can somebody sensible please help quick!

hi every 1, so here goes...a few days ago I started gettin some rust/silver and black spots,only on 1 plant and now its startin to spread.On further investigation,i found a black cocoon about 1.7mm long.So today i do a res change,(to add boost `cos im 3 weeks away from harvest)And i found a few dead hairy grub things?! about 2mm long in the roots,so now im worried.carried on emptying my res,and noticed some bastard worm things in my res!,these thing are alive! and can stretch about 6mm some of them.they seem to live there as they have a hook on their tail end to hold the bottom of the res,just like bloodworm in a river.And finally...a while back i had 2 plants die in the same tray as the plants mentioned above,due to pump failure.i safely removed as much as i could of the 2 dead plants root system,but now what was left is starting to rot,i dont think its too much of a problem at the moment tho as my roots are still white and are not slimey...yet here the pics.thanks for lookin.[attachment=o158845]

come on xxxhazexxx boy,giz a hand,these things might as well be aliens as i haven`t got a clue wtf they are!! wheres all the biologists at!!!!

I've got no idea what kind of bugs those are, but I'll bump your thread so maybe someone who knows will read it. :thumbsup:

nah,looked like a mini moth.looked grey in colour.What i meant by sensible was some one who know what they`re talkin about and some one who was`nt gonna be sarcastic,or take the mickey about the situation.i can do without it man,i got problems.

luckily there was a lot(20-30) of these dead grubs,which means they`re not loving it in there,and are not completing a life cycle.1 or 2 must of hatched tho `cos i found 2 empty cases,but i have not seen the flying thing(2.4mm long, greyish,mini moth-like) since,checked plants,thrips may still be present from last time,but could`nt find any of them either.Ive still no clue as to what those worms are?might crop a week early and beat the bastards to it.

Sounds like a psycoda sp.- the " moth like fly" is a dead give-away. These don't usually cause too many problems ( except that they'll fly right up your nose- first time I saw them, they were being referred to as "nose flys").

There's about a bazillion sub-specia.

Pyrethrins will kill the adults as they emerge. The larval stages are pretty damned indestructible, as they're well insconced in the root zone.

Just put up with them for now- when you harvest, dispose of all root tissue outside of your dwelling and pyre-bomb the room.

If it is a psychodid,( google "psychoda" for images), suggests that you may have something else going on- food source is decaying organic material.

Do you have a sewage treatment plant nearby? Psychodids are considered to be beneficial in that trade, and may be endemic.

Seriously, look @ on-line images- if you have a match, don't worry about it- they're annoying as all get out, but do little actual damage. Do figure out why you have root zone decay- if they're psychoda, then that's what they're feeding on. Adults do not feed ( at least in any of the specia that I've encountered), so eliminating the food source should take care of the problem.

Oh, and if the images do match, have a look at your sink and shower drains ...ya may have more.

Yes i do have a sewage plant near by,approx 1 mile.can i use hydrogen peroxide out of a hair bleacing kit and dilute it to sort my roots out as the decay is from two old roots systems of 2 plants that died in the same tray(i removed as much as i could,safely at the time)I think ive just found out what the worms are aswell....crane fly larvae,whats the damage with these little beasts? Will psychoda leave my heathy roots alone? and will hydrogen kill the above mentioned?Nice 1,guys.Thanks,RM.

when i said crane fly,i meant ormosia larvae(im not sure if we get them in the uk,but description and photo look the same)not tipulidae,know as leather jackets in the uk- i find them all the time in lawns and turf.what will these worms do? I thought i had 3 weeks left of flower but now could be 2,maybe just even flush for the next week as they`re looking ready any way.Roll on snow white.... thanks for the help.Peace,RM.

nah man,i dont think its a ph problem,my water is 6.8 straight out of the tap,I leave it to stand for at least 24hrs b4 adding nutes(canna range)then ph it to 5.5-5.6. 24 hours later it`ll be up somewhere between 6.0 and 6.4.then i`ll add 2-4 litres of ph`d water to bring it back to 5.5.This is`nt too much fluctuation is it? I think my problem is a mag def coupled with bugs...Of all descriptions!!!!!! im gonna crop early and beat them to it.Disinfect, hoover and bug bomb before i start again.Oh well, thanks guys,peace,RM.
