Pics - Trichs & Cola - Comments on Harvest?

Here are some new pics. One is of the trichs forming on one of the colas, one is of the top of the plant showing bud growth along the stem, and another is of the apical (top) cola. I am just curious how much longer you all think it should be flowered until harvest. I am guessing 7-14 days based on the trichomes and bud size along the stem. Anyone have any suggestions? It is now about 6-7 weeks in to flower, which would put a harvest two weeks from now at about 9 weeks in to flowering. Any suggestions or comments are much appreciated! :jointsmile:

Definitely 10-14 days. I can see your trichs are turning cloudy already so you're almost there.

What strain is it? (cant remember)

Thanks for the comments :). These are Kali Mist. The flowering time is *supposed* to be 8-12 weeks, so I say 9-10 at least. Either way I know they won't get harvested seriously early if they are given 9 weeks minimum since that is in their harvest window (but hell just about everything flowers in "8-12 weeks" other than fast flowering strains). I doubt it will be a single harvest though. Most likely it will be a continuous harvest over a few weeks to get the best yield... I'll keep this thread as the final harvest thread for any future pics...

Here are a few images captured through jewelers' loupes. The first is at 10X, the second is at 30X. On the latter, you can really see the cloudy coloration forming in the trichs. This is from a very small bud which was again clipped from the proximal aspect of one of the lower branches (done about every 14 days to inspect the maturity of the less visible buds - in total about 4-5 before full harvest is started).

That has a ways to go still. Not long, maybe a week? Stunning pics though. You are very thorough. I like that.

Pics below: 4 hits = several bowls of anything out there that isn't beautifully homegrown. It is so potent that I would almost swear I wasn't even good enough (yet) to have had a hand in it at all. Even though not perfectly timed for harvest (about 5-7 days early), and only enough for 4 hits (about 0.15g on the scale), this early test was absolutely mind blowing. Wish there was a way to share the love :jointsmile:.

You take some amazing pictures! But, I didn't see the milky clouding you were seeing. So I think you still have a little to go. Also aren't the pistils supposed to be turning too?

I'm on my first grow and I'm not in flowering yet, so I wouldn't know for sure.

These were germinated from a stock of Serious Seeds Kali Mist which happened to come via freebie with some Haze, NL5, Jack Herer, and a few other strains in an order. I have to say that after seeing this strain in action, it is no doubt one of my top 5 picks. It grows fairly fast and tall, especially after about the 4'th week of veg. Although it is a little (and I do mean only a very little) bushier (wider) than some of the other heavy sativa strains, it is still a much taller growing plant than an indica dominant strain. One of the interesting things that I found to be true is the (vendor's) claim that it produces fewer (fan) leaves than other strains, allowing light to pass through to lower branches. With very minimal (2-3 weeks) LSTing in mid veg, colas ended up forming on the majority of the secondary growing tips comparable to the apical cola. This in turn produced many bushy and full buds. After a 3 week germination indoor under CFLs, all of them were moved outside and have stayed there through harvest (upcoming). This is not a hard strain to grow at all, and produces very respectable results without much intervention. A+ in my book!

High output custom hydroponic CFL germination tray (indoor) for the first 3-4 weeks, then moved outdoors to natural light (about 12-14 cm tall at that time). Literally grew like a weed (no pun intended) as soon as it hit the sunlight.

Yes, the pistils will continue to turn amber (as will the trichs) as the actual harvest date draws near. The trichomes are just now clouding over (about 30-50% are cloudy, the rest are clear). The pics don't show the flowers in a mature harvest state. The cutting that was used to acquire these images was taken from the mother a few weeks early just to test her potency a week or two before the planned harvest (a food/veg dehydrator was used to dry the bud rapidly for quick testing). As mentioned by a few people, they are about 5-10 days (now) from entering their primary harvest window. More pics to come when that date arrives of course :thumbsup:. I hope everyone is having a fantastic season and as much fun as I have been having :jointsmile:...

Here is an update with some new images. The trichs on most buds are much more cloudy than they have been (about 80-90% cloudy), however very few (if any) have begun to turn amber. I would say this puts the prime harvest window at about 5 days from now on most of the buds. The harvest may, however, be delayed to allow for a little extra bud maturation. Some of the more immature buds will be allowed to flower out after the initial harvest to allow for maximum yield, which will probably extend the harvest for several weeks (I would guess a second round in about 14-20 days). Two small buds were clipped at the time these images were taken, and an image of them on a scale (accurate to a hundredth of a gram) is also included (exactly 3g *WET* combined - all but the smallest flower leaves were removed). I am estimating a little under 1g dry weight from these two buds (the smaller one is currently being rapidly dehydrated to check potency and effect). Should there be a stronger body stone than would be expected at this point, the harvest may instead be moved ahead a few days (aiming for 80% heady, 20% body) - but this is less likely than allowing for more bud maturation by extending the harvest date. In addition, going by the wet to dry ratio of the few buds that have been tested (and dried), they retain about 30% of their weight once dry. The total yield (wet) is estimated to be from 60-80g (based on number of full colas and large buds), which would put the dry weight around 18-27g total - not too bad considering the potency of the previously tested buds. By dry weight, about 1/3g (0.3g) has been enough in testing to produce competely profound experiences (near dissociative - similar to Ketamine, Dextromethorphan, or Nitrous - but without much sensory distortion; mainly dissolution of ego and depersonalization/derealization), while 1/6g (0.15g) has shown to be enough to cause a very strong high.
