i'm watching a movie on tv... (golden eye on spiketv...) and it's also hosting the countdown to halo 3....
i saw someone holding up a bandana or something saying 'finish the fight'...
wtf? you've got to be a fucking idiot to think this will be the last halo... tha'ts like throwing away a winning lottery ticket....
so how many people here think this is the ending? cuz if you do, you are probably oen of the biggest idiots i have ever met LOL
IDK I think that a dignified death is always best but hey thats just me and that their pesky honor code. I'd like it to continue but I strongly doubt their going to make another Halo for XBOX 360. You take from that what you want but if you look no one has truly denied a new console in the works thats all I'm saying.
i ain't saying shit about 360.... halo didn't even start on 360, so that really has nothing to do with the series continuation, period.
i'm asking if anyoen here is honestly stupid enough to think this is the end of the halo series... although honestly, id' love it to be... because personally the game is far overated imo....

erm.... that it's the same game since the first (and of course for obvious reasons i haven't played the third) but i've played them, extensively when i visit certain people cuz there is NOTHING to do... the missions are crap, the game is overrated, and it's nothing that any other system COULDN'T do yet, xbox fans act like it's god, and anytime you try ot get in an honest debate about any system ti's the first and only comeback anyone has....
my problem with it is, that it is entirely overrated.... but i wasn't trying to bring it to this particular thread.. i just wanted to know if anyone (xbox fan/hater alike) was stupid enough to think it was the end (As i said, i saw some dude on tv sporting something showing he thought it was...)

I mean thats the beauty of conversation it spills into what we couldn't even imagine......hmm the missions are shit but its simple fun that is more so dependent on the multilayer action. You have to at least give it that much credit and before you say "You say that bc you play" I suck absolutely suck at the online aspects of halo.
I think you're seeing the end of the Master Chief storyline, but then they are working on Halo Wars RTS and I imagine they won't stop playing in the Halo Universe, they can branch off from "Halo" itself, and use another game title to replace it, but I think Master Chief is done with Halo 3 and it'll be another world from the same Universe they use, ie no more Halo's...
And I concur after playing Halo, I was intrigued at first, but with Halo 2 my interest waned, and Halo 3, I'll rent it.
We shall see. Can't say a thing until this game comes out.

halo wars is coming out soon so halo 3 oviously isnt the last one, but the ending was leaked and they supposedly wrapped it up pretty good this time.
Whether its the end of master chief or not this has been a really fun series IMO.
don't get me wrong i'll buy it only to play when my friends want to play it, but we all think the same way. that for 1 not even the first one was all that great i thought, or the 2nd and since they like to run the game into the ground making the same exact game, i mean look at all 3 there all the same weak ass story line short offline game, and run&gun online. same weapons same everything, and people act as if it's a whole new game. i see guys on my friends list on 360 thats played halo2 every day from launch. how wtf lol theres no way i could play that lame ass game that long sosdd i say...but i will get it u know when u know a game is gonna be lame but u still buy it in hopes that the makers grew a brain this time and made a good "new" game and not the sos recycled game and then u get it and after about 5mins u remember why u did't really want to buy it.lol thats halo lmao
I find it hilarious that the two most outspoken anti-360/Pro-PS3 posters on the board are the most out spoken anti Halo (Slip and Blunt) Not surprised in the slightest though.
A game can't really be "overrated" if someone thinks Halo is the best game ever they aren't wrong, it is the best game ever to them. I think the Halo series is one of best FPS series out there, not my personal all time favorite (That spot now belongs to Bioshock, it was Doom 3)
This is the end of THIS storyline arc. It's not the end of the Halo franchise. We have Halo Wars coming out in the future (strategy game) and I imagine there will be other Halo FPS games in the future but I do believe it will be a whole new storyline arc, a whole new adventure for Master Chief.
So yes this is the end of Halo as we know it, but not Halo in general.
counter strike to me is the greatest...1.6 or source on the PC

if you want my honest opinion, most ALL games are over rated... including my beloved ps3 games.... every game has a large ammount of fans walking around and talking as if it's the most godly game and the best thing to happen to video games since pong....
the three greatest games ever created, imo are: legend of zelda : ocarina of time, 007 golden eye, and battlefield 2 (on pc) although there are alot more that come close to making that list, they don't....
if youw ant more of my opinion, one of the closest games to make that list is actually on 'my rival system' (360) which is gears of war...
i made the truce thread and i have no intention of violating it and bashing systems... i just saw some idiot on tv acting like this was the end...
now you also have to take into account i don't like the systems, nor the game... so i'v enever actually heard there were plans for it to spin off.... i was just saying "you're an idiot if you think they're gonna just end this series here and now and never pick it up again"

You can't compare GTA to Halo to see who should and should not be overrated. They are two totally different games.
People who love FPS games and love cooperative play, love Halo. It is one of the best FPS games out there. Plus you can play with a friend (or go online), making its replay value very high.
Halo is the FPS. The community makes the game great, i dunno about the story line, i only play online. It's all about clan wars.

but what bungie do so well and why so many people love it, is because the halo universe is massive.
halo wars is a prequal to the envents of the first game
and it is likely that they will create other games. probably detailing other spartans and the other missions detailed within the books and comics. (not read them just wiki)
the halo universe is equivilent to that of marvel or dc comics in that everything is thought out and has its place.
but more than anything the games are just fun as fuck to play. story mode is a wikid sort of introduction, before the hardcore of multiplayer takes place.
people complain, but look at golden eye and the replay factor of that. the story was hardly groundbreaking.

The formula is quite the same throughout the whole series, GTA III just did a miraculous job of changing it from 2D to 3D. I find it funny however that many Halo bashers bash it for being more of the same, but then turn around and praise GTA. GTA has done the EXACT same thing in each sequel, just added more to it. They gave us new storyline in the same story arc (being connected in some way or another to eachother) they kept the same gameplay and just expanded upon it. , they gave the fans more things they wanted, they added more vehicles, more weapons, made the land bigger, gave us swimming eventually, the gameplay kept the exact same formula but added a few addition in each version. Halo series has done the same thing. The storyline continued and expanded on previous they gave us more vehicles to use, more weapon variety more types of enemies.
They are true sequels. I love GTA and I find it to be a better series than Halo. I find GTA to have much more gameplay value vs the $$ spent, I find the storylines to be better as well. That's not to take anything away from Halo though. GTA is of the new sandbox genre which usually combines several genres to create a crossbreed that can appeal to many for different reasons. Halo is a FPS genre specific game and will only appeal to those that enjoy FPS titles.

here i'll show you everything new each game brought.... (Aside from the obvious of time lines and story lines)
GTA III: 3D enviroment, and open ended... and of course the now famously brutal fighting style/shoot out style that GTA is utimately famous for...
GTA VC: motorcycles, helicopters, new weapons, more expansive cities, new line of cars, highly upgraded graphics from the last, upgraded fighting style, boats, introduction of obtaining property, more brutal and graphic scenes
GTA SA: a majorly even more expanisve map, rigs, planes, the ability to buy property with money, dating/relationships (although not one of the better upgrades, if ound it quite pointless honestly) 2 player ability, gang territory, eating/excercising and other 'health care', the ability to swim, 'skydiving', an infanetly more expansive selection of cars/vheicles, even more weapons, enough more worth mentioning (not some sword and battle rifle BS) burglarly and other 'questionable' means of making money.... and yet again, even higher graphics...
we have not agreed in the past, but i'd have to agree with u on this one. and out of all the games out for the 360 now with the gaylo let down, i'd have to say i find myself playing skate alot. as it turned out to be a great game and has improved alot over the same old tony hawk games it has shown to be a great game.and not as big of a learning curve as i thought it would be compared to the button smashing on the tonyhawk games after about 30 mins u pick it up quick.Quote:

I tried to read all of this but I cant I just gotta say if you think Halo is good then you havent played the real FPS games. Halo was a knock off of Unreal and Mech warrior, its all 360 has in that genera, but the new games coming out now have to compeet with it casue of the huge following of Halo. But after an hour of playing it , I just wana play unreal or Mechwarrior. The game lacks so much and becomes borring real quick. especialy when their is so much out thier that is eather the same or better. the new COD4 is way better but lacks the fantasy which is why I say Mech warrior is a better choice for that style of game. However Unreal T. is a more sutibul game too , but then it would be the same as halo just different wepons.. Personaly if it aint real as in a Mp5 or a M60 or a AT-4 or RPG(Rocket propled gernade) then it is just lame to me. Phantasy is not one of my thangs but realisium is much more entertaining, especialy live its always gotta be online ofcoarse
