Anyone Practice Wicca?
i have been for the past 2 years,
could you please tell me what "wicca" is ive never heard of it??!!
I used to practice Wicca, but I've learned so much, and as a result changed so much that I can't really call it Wicca any longer. I'd still say it's a Pagan religion, but I don't follow any particular teachings, I just do what feels right.
wicca??...
okay witch craft I prefer to stay away.. some people I knew practiced that stuff and they both ended up slashing their thrists... pretty sad really
have loads of books and stuff on the subject am also ( suppossed ) to be a spritual healer , also do alot with crysals and crystal healing !!
Each to there own huh ... !
Peace xx
I practice santeria and have been reading about wicca. Its the study of earth, and spirituality, and loving nature, and a lot more. Its not bad. Though some people use it for the wrong reasons. Which puts a bad name on it.

namebaran, i know htis is tupid, but do you like that sublime song?
I never heard of it. what is it about?
It's called Santeria, I've always been too stoned to hear past hte first few lyrics
"I don't practice Santeria....."
It, like Sublime, is Sublimely awesome!
I'm Pagan. Blessed Be! :D Wicca is the same as Paganism pretty much. Instead of worshiping one god. We worship the gods of the elements. We worship nature and mother earth. Most of us believe in reincarnation. Some practice spells. We are "witches". Except we don't do black magic.
Mm, y'all!
I'm Wiccan, too, mostly eclectic with a big pull toward Inana right now. It's awesome! Does anybody here incorperate weed and smoking into any of their practices? If so, how? I'd like to meditate stoned, but I'm not sure how ell that would work. Any suggesstions? Thanks.
Amanda
I make up my own meditation rituals. Go outside and get stoned at midnight while you are conducting a ritual. It helps to get you in touch with the spiritual side. Native Americans used it for that purpose plus other things.
Most people who say they are Pagen or practice Wicca are not. It seems to be a trendy thing now days to do that stuff. And while im just guessing here, I don't think any TRUE Wicca or Pagen people would have an Internet connection or be registered to a stoner web site.
I think you are confused. Haven't you ever heard of conventional witchcraft? Everyone "upgrades" lol. I mean would a true farmer be out milking cows by hand if he could use a machine and milk more than one at a time? Same goes for pagan/wicca. We don't need to turn into amish people to worship nature. Some of have lives. We run businsses. Some of us just like to be as normal as anyone else. And why wouldn't a pagan be registered to a marijuana message board? Marijuana is a natural herb. It was here long before we were. Nothing wrong with smoking weed.
The US government has done it's brainwashing very well. It's called cannabis.
witch craft.....was a collection of natural remedies and so called spells which on the hole were just a way to focus energy the spells that is,, to achieve a desired result handed down through the generations I have seen 1st hand as my grandfathers mother was a known wise women her name was Charolette Rose she originated from Northern India emigrated to Romania where her family along with other gypsies as they became known were hounded and persecuted when germany invaded..prior to that they were shunned for being different and constantly moved we have tried to traslate her books of remedies without success the books were written using signs and symbols that possibly only made sense to her or her immediate family
Being Pagan is as good as any other belief, better in the aspect that to my knowledge we don't feel the need to push our beliefs on others. If you would like to come along, sweet, if not your not shunned or sentenced to eternal damnation. To think there is only one way to spirituality and communion with a God is not healthy.
[FONT=Book Antiqua][SIZE=6][COLOR=Indigo]Wiccans actually are not suppose to ever involve alchohol or drugs with meditation and workings. "spell casting". We are suppose to be content with the nateral high our Lady offers us through meditation and focus.Quote:

7 posts in a row? Damn, Saveme. Anyway, it's really annoying when people of any religion go around pointing saying "He's not wiccan because a wiccan wouldn't do that. I however do everything BY THE BOOK and therefore am a TRUE wiccan" Im not wiccan. Im too religiously confused to make up my mind right now. But that's one of the things that pisses me off about almost all religions, the fact that if you go outside the lines a bit, you are no longer considered "a true member of that religion". Take all the christians who have sex before marriage. Does this truly mean they're not christian? No, it means they have slightly varying belifs then the typical christian. If you really were wiccan, I believe you would realize that people can have slightly varying beliefs and still be wiccan. -points- You are just one of those wiccan wannabes. Only you're the worse then most because you're elitist about it. As little as I know about wiccan, I do know it is an open-minded religion, and elitism involves being very much closed-minded.
Just my two dollars,
- Encatuse
PS.. You said doing what you feel is right makes you a true wiccan, why then are those who decide to make variations to the typical wiccan philosophy.. such as getting stoned for rituals.. make them a trendy non-wiccan? Shouldn't that make them MORE wiccan... they are doing what they feel is right and it surely isn't hurting anyone.
Ah, I apologize. I didn't mean to come off as a dick, which, upon re-reading my post, I realize I did. It's just you contradicted yourself. You called TheSanityAssassin a "True Wiccan" merely because he does what he feels is right as long as it's not harmful. Well... what if he's going out at midnight practicing his rituals whilst stoned just as NancyRenee, the not real wiccan girl is? Just wondering. Enlighten me, maybe I've got the wrong idea here. ^.^
Encatuse
naw encatuse i was thinking that too when i read those posts. you just said it how it is yo.
the term is "eclecetic" i think. the great thing about wicca is that there really isnt one concrete way of doing it by the book because there is no book! :)
Thanks. ^.^ Glad I didn't come off as a dick.
i suppose the rede would be the basic guideline. outside of that there is really no basis to critisize peoples methods.
You said so much about that SaveMe that I felt I had to until I got to your post. Bravo you were so right on the money with your assessment.
SaveMe420, why don't you leave the judgements to the conservatives? We have enough of them running around right now. Pagans(of which wiccans are a part) are supposed to be a little more open minded. BTW, the word Wicca is Latin and it means male witch, and the word Pagan is basically the same as our Redneck or Hick. You see when the Catholic church first started growing it could only afford to build churchs in the more densely populated areas, leaving the farmers and other rural people to continue worshiping their Gods and Spirits they had always known.
Pagan is a broad term, but Wiccan is a specific belief structure with foundations in Paganism. While Wiccans have of late been diversifying the structure of their covens and such, that doesn't mean that witchcraft is not still a part of wicca. Wicca means witch, and craft kinda goes with the territory. I think You need to open your heart up to greater possibilities in life and in spirit.
Whatever is true for you is true for you
Whatever is true for me is true for me
Doesn't mean that our beliefs must contradict each other
Please think of that next time you tell people what their religon is.
nancyrenee got it right. I live in the woods and have a sacred circle there where I recognize the four elements or directions and have a spiritual ceremony, well maybe ceremony is too strong a word, but I am peaceful person, love nature and the earth as all pagans do. Did you ever wonder what the hell Christmas tress and lights had to do with the birth of Christ? Well, all of that is adopted from paganism. Pagans used to decorate with flowers lights and colorful things to celebrate the winter solistice. Most christianity celebrations came from pagans. It would be a better place if people forgot the dogma of religion and practiced true love of all things on this earth.
Pray for peace.
maybe ritual was a better word? what is your spiritual ceremony if you care to share it itd be most interesting! maybe i can incorporate something new. right now i just do a lot of candle magick theres not a lot of ritual involved besides focusing and connecting... i know thats just being lazy but hey its better than nothing. does that even "count" as praticing the craft
You got it, ritual is the word. You can make your own ritual with candle magic. That's what is part of being pagan, if you aren't hurting any living thing, you are accepted by all who believe in pagan. I am a solitary pagan and when I go to some pagan events, which are few, I am still accepted be everyone even tho I do not attend their places of rituals. One of my simple rituals that I will share. I walk down a long path into the woods to my sacred circle. I look straight up and give thanks for the beautiful day and for basically being alive to enjoy another day. I then face east, which is the element air, the season spring, then south, fire and summer, west, water and fall, north, earth and winter. Recognizing the four directions helps me to remember my connection on this earth. Before I leave my circle, I remind myself to strive to channel love and light from my being.
Hope I haven't rambled on.
hi willow..that sounds like a simple yet effective ritual. (simple + effective being the best combination)
so are you solitary by choice or would you prefer others? for me, its so much easier to do spells and rituals alone, without people trying to judge me ya know? but on the other hand, a coven can probably cast some powerful magick, depending on how adept the members...and how potent the pot? hehe
tip: a good place to try and start/join a coven is actually www.meetup.com do a search in your home town for witchcraft or witches or pagans. you get the idea. i tried it and i met about 10 witches in my area. unfortunately they werent very knowledgable. oh well :)
hi euphoric, I actually prefer to be alone. I do know several witches in my area and have only invited one to my circle. She is trying to get me to open up to other people but I am taking it slow. I have always been a loner all my life so it's hard to open up. I live near a small logging town and most of the people are not open to witchchcraft so I have to keep it quiet (along with my smoking habits.) I did a spell for good fortune and luck the other night and an owl landed in a tree near my circle. Is that a good omen or what. He is living now in my woods and I have named him Hagrid. I think I get along better with nature and wildlife and my dogs than I do with people. But I try to keep love in my heart for all - for you too. Thanks for your interest, it does make me feel like I am a part of something. Willow PS I will check out that website.
oh an owl! thats one of my main animal spirits guides i do believe (shamanism) so thats kind of a coincidence. sorta... (i also have a lil hagrid "action figure" it lives on our kitchen table)
aah i'd hate to live in a logging community. gotta love those trees :)
yesh you should find that link helpful i hope... its one of the best i do believe...lots of spells and a particularly interesting resource on faeries and the ilk.
any way, back to the owl...according to native american shamans the owl represents
Stealth,Secrecy,Silent and swift movement,Seeing behind masks,Keen sight,Messenger of secrets and omens,Shape-shifting,Link between the dark, unseen world and the world of light,Comfort with shadow self and Moon magick
heres where i get that kinda info..

Living in a logging community is kind of awful. I sometimes pass places that once had trees and then ond day they are all gone. I am fortunate to have 10 acres in the woods and no one can touch my trees. I even have some second growth growing. I feed the deer apples, they actually come to me when I call them. I also have elk roaming around but they are so big so I haven't tried to make good friends with them. they are more frightened of me than the deer are. Have lots of other wild life too, coyotes, lots of birds. I am trying to make a refuge for them so no one will harm them. Lots of hunters up here too. I don't eat any kind of animals and I think that the deer know that because during hunting season my deer population grows. When I see Hagrid, I will think of you. Thanks for all the info on those websites. I'll look at them tonight or tomorrow morning. Peace be with you, thanks for "talking" with me. Willow
