Yes, but be careful.
You can ruin perfectly good bud by leaving it in too long.
Take it out BEFORE IT'S COMPLETELY DRY, and finish drying it naturally.
You'll be glad you did.
This is much much better than a microwave but not near as good as month-cured buds.... Cured bud will get to 2 or 3 times as high. If you've put all this time into growing it why not cure it right?
i agree that you need to cure it for a month, but why not knock a few days off the process by drying it a little faster. Not totally dried out
but mostly dry. just wondering, im a month away before harvest
but this shit crosses my mind and i gotta ask!
Thanks peeples
Dry and curing are two different things. When you cure buds you are basically just letting the buds age. All the green in the fresh buds is chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is what give it it's grassy taste. Also, by the end of the cure, any remaining inactive THC will be converted to active THC (that increases potency). You can do an experiment... Try a couple of buds a week off the plant. Then wait 4 weeks and try it again. The cured buds will taste twice as good and the high will be much more developed, long-lasting and intense. When i grew my first couple grows i smoked alot of it early.. like 1 or 2 weeks after harvest. And its still good.. but once i started getting to the end of the stash it was sooooooo much better and it made me feel like an ass for slashing my own buds potential. I mean i spent a whole year taking care of this plant only to semi-waste it because i was impatient. Trust me... learn from my mistake. give it AT LEAST 3 weeks. I always buy like 2 ounces of mids and conserve on that... That way when i switch to smokin CURED dro i get completely wasted. And the taste..(sigh)
Right on EarthyDank, i WILL take your advice and learn from other peoples mistakes, i'm old enough now, to listen to people and their
advice on things i have never done before! I just wish that I could
smoke some of these huge pine and lemon smelling buds with all
the people on this site that have given me great advice!!!!
So i will be patient and dry and cure this bitch the right way!!!!!
THanks man!
well i wouldnt drying pot is smoother tasting if u dry it ever so slowly
u should dry a bud or 2 in ur dehydrater n the rest the right way n u can share ur finding with us
but not a big hit ur hill billy green bud maybe harsh
a se tenn local shared his 'hill billy green bud' with me n with only 1 big ass hit i puked up my lunct coughed for awhile n went in to die in my bed
I too believe that a slow dry is better...think good wine; it takes time to be a quality product, that is why the process has not changed very much in hundreds of years.
BTW, be sure the dehydrator does not have a heating element. The heat will ruin the THC.
It is important to not let it get too dry... Which if you do it right and dry for about 4 -7 days.. then the buds should be crispy on the outside but kinda moist on the inside. Then you put them in jars and this pulls the moisture out and makes the whole contents of the jar consistently moist. The level of moisture is preference but if you keep it too moist it may mold. If you keep it too dry, i won't have alot of weigh to it. It wil turn into dust when you break it up and it doesn't look quite as good as fresh-looking buts that have the slightly moist consistency. A little moisture make it seem alot stickier. The curing process is what gives it the smooth taste. All the chlorophyll and fertilizer compounds that are in the buds is what makes it harsh and will give you a sore throat. This is why you cure. Over time the fertilizer breaks down. You can actually see the chlorophyll breaking down because the buds will be green at first then they fade to a greyish-green-brown color. The key to smooth tasty buds are: 1, using organics, 2 Flushing the soil 1 or 2 weeks before harvest and, 3 Curing it for as long as your patience permitts (After 6 months it doesn't get much better). I think 2 to 3 months is the best for most people(who aren't rediculously obsessed with having the best bud in the world. But for the beginner I would suggest a month.Quote:

I think this is a far cry from shwag! what makes you say hill billy
weed??? Its some kind of indica strain and from what i hear pine and lemon smelling big sticky hairy buds sounds like trainwreck ive
never smoked trainwreck but i hear its powerful shit!!! i sure hope
it doesnt turn out to be shwaag or hill billy shit, that would suck
after all the wor ive put into this bitch!
unless you are growing hemp or ruderalis it will be good. Genetics are a huge role but so is the method in which you grow. If you give it all the nutrients it needs, give it good soil and plenty of air, water and sun then that plant will grow to the full extent of its potential. And most bagseeds will turn out much much better than the bud that it was in because most weed is grown for profit with little integrity. I've noticed (especially with mids) that alot of growers let the plant go longer than it needs to. The long the plant flowers the bigger the buds get, so the more money they can make. But the THC will start degrading after it reaches peak potency and turn into a lethargic "i wanna take a shower and sleep for a day" stone. So if you grow/harvest right, it will be clean, smooth, longer-lasting high than most buds you'll find.Quote:

colas! the smallest one is a foot long, but they havnt filled out yet
i dont want lethargic weed though ! im so confused on what to do?
i thought it was supposed to flower for at least 60 days! why are the
trics already cloudy???????????
Wait until they start turning amber.
The thichs may look cloudy but if it is 30 day then they definatly aren't ready. If you growing outside you'll still have about 1week for indicas and up to 3 weeks for sativas. I think you said it was indica so I'd say wait about a week. Get it when you just start to see amber trichs on the top buds (be sure to check a few). The trichs will turn cloudy when the buds are filled.Quote:

I think he is sating its been 30 days since he started seeing buds. Which the buds usually form around 3 weeks into flowering. And Most plant outside... at least in my area are finishing in a few weeks so i figure its probably similar photoperiod where 1sttimer lives. BTW generally when are u located 1st?Quote:

i loosened up up ground three feet deep and mixed perlite with the
regular dirt and planted it. I used a 175 watt metal halide light to
lengthen the days to 16 hrs i fed it age old grow 12-6-6 and 2 tsp
of molassas it grew 4 ft tall and really bushy and dark green.
i took the light off of it august 15th because my buddys plant started to flower naturally and he planted his the same time i did it showed its first sign of flowering august 20 when the Y pattern turned to offset y pattern and they took off bigtime stretching. i waited two weeks and gave it age old bloom formula .01-.10-.01
and guano budswell and tsp of molassas ive done that for two weeks the buds are getting huge already. the center cola is 23 inches tall from where the y pattern changed and the rest of the buds are 12 - 18 inches each. (his baby has grown amazngly
compared to all my friends ( who planted at the same time.
anyway my trichomes are already cloudy WHATSUP?????????
i thought you were gonna try to help me figure this out???
I'll help you if you get some pictures... unless it sativa it should be close to finishing... You don't live but maybe a couple hundred miles from me so the photoperiod is the same. The trich's will turn white then amber when the time is right. when you start seeing amber trichs that means its time to harvest. Get a camera and I can tell you exactly how long you have.Quote:
