also do you wish to stay were you are in life or do you have higher ambitions?
My job is easy, I sit on my ass and watch boxes go by on a conveyor belt, and make sure there are no jams in the movement, I make $14 an hour right now, and am due for a raise anytime.
I work at a small restaurant and make minimum wage ($7.50/hr) + tips ($60-$150 per shift)
And yes i want to get out of here as fast as I can.. But do not know where else to go yet.. :(

oh yea and Iam also a vicking, and you know what we do......................Bad ass lol.
singer songwriter eh i know alot of them. Is it just pipe dream or do you actually earn your living off it?
It's a pipedream until you realise it's your life's greatest ambition. I've unfortunately lost a fraction of interest in it at the moment....hence why I'm going to Trades School right now :S At least I'll have made $3000 between Sept-Nov just to learn how to fix things around my house....then God knows if I'll be back to my musical endevours again. I find when I focus on something I tend to hate it so I have to trick myself into thinking I don't want to be a singer/songwriter as much :S yeah life's weird
come on people this would actually be interesting to see how many stoners can lead a succesful life along with a smoking habit.
:jointsmile:i'm a nurse...I'm currently making $20/hr. I love what I do and couldn't picture myself in any other endeavours....
I work at McDonalds and make min wage but i plan to go to UW platteville in wisconsin for a teaching degree for history
I'm a freshman at college right now double majoring in athletic training and a doctorate in physical therapy. If and yeah it is an "if" I make it out of this program I expect to start anywhere in excess of 60,000-65,000 / year with benefits and all that nonsense. And yes, I burn every single day!
Oh and as for ambitions, I'd like to get a job with a sports team or in a hospital or out patient clinic while I'm younger and eventually open my own practice where my income can be limitless.
Stay high
I'm a Marine Engineer making 3,500 a week for a suthern state and I smoke whenever I get the chance
Life is good
I depend on my husband and savings from my job in past years for a living because I go to medical school and earn zero dollars.
Before I returned to school a little over a year ago, I worked as an executive speechwriter/marketing communications consultant for a Fortune 100 company and earned about $113,000 per year working part time. More in years when there were lots of bonuses. Stay in school, kids!
Im doing a 3 year course in vehicle mechanics at the moment by the time I leave i will be on a minimum of £30,000 per year but If i decide to go to uni which I might then It will increase a hell of a lot depending on how far I take it, but it goes up and up the higher you get.
I am a singer songwriter, but I do it more for fun, right now iam not working because of back surgery, so just for fun I tell peopleQuote:

Well not everyone defines success by how much money they make. Personally, that's a rather sad way to live life.Quote:

If I'm happy in 20 years, then I'd say I'm a success. As long as I can afford to pay my bills and get by, that's fine by me. Life wasn't meant to be spent grubbing for money doing some job you in which you despise everything about it besides for the paycheck.
"Money isn't real. It doesn't matter. People only think it does."
It was never said that success was defined by how much money you make. I know it's nice and pretty to think that money doesn't matter and happiness is all that's needed. Well I hate that rationale. It's simply cannot exist that way and making other people feel bad about trying to make as much money as possible is foolish. Money is all that matters. Those who do not realize this simply have not made it then. Or are just straight up bull shitting to prove some kinda moral point..Quote:

Money is ALL that matters eh? Wow...you sound like you'd fit right in down on Wall Street. Realistically, you need money to survive, but to the excessive heights that you seem to crave seem a bit pointless. Well, I hate that rationale. The green monster may just be the death of you, no? :D
Just how do you know you're really alive? ~
Out of curiosity, what did you have your degree in before going to medical school?Quote:

im most likely gonna graduate with a masters in applied economics with the ability to start off making 50k a year right out of school
but yet, if you asked me right now what i want to do id answer that i wanna be a full time groundskeeper for the town i used to live in....id probbaly start off at 11bucks an hour
hell, id be doing it now, if my parents didnt demand i have a college degree even if i dont end up using it right away
i guess my point is, 11 bucks an hour sure is no 50k a year starting off but i would be way happier working outdoors, doing stuff i love, with people i enjoy
sure, some money is needed to survive and all of that, but after that, it doesnt matter at all
Associate professor, 73K - Teaching is certainly not the highest paid profession, but it's the greatest job in the world!
I'm just in college right now but I intend to be a math teacher. Teachers make good money especially considering they only work about 9 months out of the year. I expect to make at least 40k when I start. Not much compared to some of the posts but it sounds like more than enough to retire with and smoke everyday!
im in the pharmaceutical industry ;)
Right now, I work at Starbucks, and earn $9/hour. For where I am in life right now, it's decent, but in no way do I plan on working this job for more than a year, simply because I deal with way too many unappreciative asshole customers.
I'm going to be joining the military in May.
Very good benefits too. At least if you teach at a public school.Quote:

I worked for many years with some large companies making about the same amount of money for years..ya know 40k-70k a year and fucking pretty much hated all of them...cause they sucked up all my time, quotas to hit..blah.blah..
I had been thinking for years about getting out and starting my own business doing something that no one else does..so that is what I am doing..I am surviving, my customers are very happy with the service that I provide..I write my own schedule and I dont have a boss micromanaging everything by numbers..
WELL SAID.:thumbsup:Quote:

If I had a choice, of course I would rather have than have not...but, and this may come as a shock to some, the more money you have...the more disconnected you are to people and the crazier you get. There comes a point where you start to question if people are really your friends or if they're just there hoping for a handout no matter who they are. Find your passion and make it work for you. Yes, money makes things easier, but at the end of the day, all the things don't matter if you've killed your spirit to get them...
