I will like to be the 1st (if not the 1st then one of the users) to acknowledge what has happened to me from the previous couple of days that I would like to share with everyone because a few users has asked with concerns on asthma and smoking cannabis and the health consequences. I was hospitalized the other day due to an asthma attack that I got during my weekend with my girl and had to be admitted to the hospital. I spent almost 1 week in there and damn was it booooorrriinnggggg!!!! I do not smoke cigs or do any other drugs in particular, only smoke marijuana. My lungs were not damaged (thank god for that too) but there was a lot of inflammation in my lungs due to a lot of cannabis smoking. My lungs capacity was really low for my age that I was on a oxygen mask for a couple of days and taking all these pills. This hasnt been the 1st time either. I got out today and would like to let everyone know that smoking cannabis is not for asthma. My asthma attack was really bad it taught me a valuable lesson. My days of rolling spliffs is officially over as well as the use of bongs, pipes, blunts etc. I do blame the smoke cause I dont get an asthma attack from drinking and I was didnt do anything besides smoke to trigger the attack. My use of a volcano vaporizer is going to increase but Im still in a lil doubt right now of even touching cannabis right now. The moderator birdgirl is right people..... smoking cannabis does not help your asthma.

I can second this: Eat or vaporize. No sh!t smoking doesn't help asthma.

It clearly doesn't help, but my asthma is not affected too much by smoking, as long as I take my singulair. The thing it really aggravates is my acid reflux and inflamed esophagus. :< But I still smoke all day!

I'm asthmatic, too, and smoking did a number on my lungs as well. I could tell it personally long before I read in medical literature that it was harmful. You'll still find plenty of uninformed people who'll try to tell you the opposite is true--and certainly there are lucky people who don't experience trouble from cannabis--but for most of us wheezers, it's not good to add further irritation to those airways. If and when I ever return to cannabis, I'm going to vape it.
Gosh, Mseerob, so sorry you were an "inmate" for nearly a week! Glad you survived your asthma attack. Did they send you home with a nebulizer if you didn't already have one at home? Are you giving your lungs some exercise now with your incentive spirometer? Hospitals are very boring. I had to spend three and a half days in one about 8 weeks ago and was ready to jump out the window by the end of the first evening. Glad you're back with us!

I have really mild asthma, I've never even really had an attack but technically i have asthma. Anyway, when i first smoked i noticed it seemed like it was way easier to breathe. And i noticed that if i smoke at least once every couple of weeks that effect remains. Cannabis has not negatively affected me so far.

But, what about Peter Tosh?
Smoking in adolescents with asthma is a public health problem. Smoking prevention efforts directed towards young people should pay attention to young people with asthma and the curative sector should increase their efforts to motivate asthmatic adolescents not to smoke.

Another thing is that Sativa and Indica will affect your lungs differently. Purple Haze will create more phlegm than Jamaican outdoor grown or pure Sativa.

yea I have a lung problem and have just recently Drastically changed my smoking habits. I'm so sorry to hear about your hospital stay mate but its good to see you made it out ok. Well maybe a bit less sane but ok none the less. If I were you I' d start cooking with it. I make a decent size batch and then store it for consumption in an air tight jar. What ever you do I wish you nothing but success.

I hope someone on here has heard of the pill called Uniphyl. If yes thats what Im currently on. It is in fact a risk for me to even touch cannabis at this time now anyways. I have to abstain from it from 1 month which is not hard. Even tho I own a volcano vaporizer I just dont think its safe cause when I take the pill it causes my heart to beat harder and when I inhale cannabis my heart rate increases more. I wish I could get high but it doesnt look like it wont happen for a while. Its good anyways for me, keep my body free from the THC for awhile.....

I know an older lady with high blood pressure, diabetes, emphysema, but, the high blood pressure took a toll on her when she held in a hit.
That's what you want to avoid.

Strange the consensus in this topic is that herb exacerbates asthma. I have BAD asthma (read my post titled Asthma in this forum), and I can tell you for sure marijuana has treated it. Before using weed regularly i would get severe asthma attacks that would lead me to the clinic and often the ER about 3-6 times a year. Almost always it would be labeled by a doctor as "asthmatic bronchitis"
Ever since I started smoking a lot of weed my asthma has almost completely vanished.

Your very lucky if that's the case. It aggravates mines and I wish it was the opposite.
