ok i am gettin piss of with plp comin in chat and talkin about porn its not the porn thats piss me of it the fact that plp are talkin about kids, am i the only one that gets piss of about this ???? something needs to be done about it, i dont know what maybe more mods i dont know but something....

Well I never go to chat/s for that reason! If I was in a chat a people talked about kids they would hear from me! I would also be a big fat rat and tell and admin, when it comes to children, it's no joke!

Problem is there are so many children IN chat. I think Lulu's been doing all she can lately. I would also get upset and will report anything I hear like that. Sorry this happened G it's usually pretty decent people here.

There is an ignore option in chat, like Lulu said. You know what else you can do if somebody is saying something you dont like? DONT READ IT OR LEAVE! If theres something on the television that you find offensive, you change the channel. However - there are limits to free-speech and expression.
Between adults...that's fine...but children are not equipped to defend themselves, and paedophilia is something that does NOT deserve any rights WHATSOEVER!!!
I haven't seen anything in the chat-room about this, and so can't comment...that said, if it IS going on, then it should be stopped, and the ones perpetrating such things should be banned -PERIOD.
I have to disagree, RES. There should NEVER be limtis to free-speech. Free-speech is NOT restricted free-speech.
If somebody feels the need to talk about paedophilia, then thats their right. If they are threatening somebody, saying they are going to act on their comments, or something similar, then they should be dealt with, but if they are only talking about paedophilia, racism, murder, rape, potatoes, jam, etc, then they have the right to talk about it. If they believe that paedophilia is okay, then thats their opinion - they shouldnt be banned for expressing their opinion, no matter how disgusting we may think it is. THATS what freedom of speech is. I may disagree with alot of things said by certain people's opinions on this site, but I would never ask for them to be banned for expressing those opinions. Its as simple as that.
To be honest, if I had it my way, EVERYBODY would agree that things like paedophilia are unnacceptable, but unfortunately not everybody feels the same as you or I. If we start calling for people to be banned because they were discussing a taboo ubject, then where do we draw the line? Do we have to close down this site, because some people feel that smoking Cannabis and talking about it is immoral? Do we ban talking about driving, because some people feel that polluting the earth with cars is wrong? Do we ban all religious jokes, incase we offend somebody? Do we ban jokes about any particular sex/race//sexual preference, in case somebody somewhere gets offended? No, we dont. Because we live in a relatively free country, and we have the right to express our opinions - no matter who agrees or who disagrees. Damn, if we're going down this route, then why not ban all racist websites? The KKK have their own website, why not get that shutdown?
Now if somebody is actually stating that they engage in paedophilia, or similar, then they should be dealt with - on this, I agree. But people talk about things.. Is something we have to deal with. If you dont like it, then you dont listen.
As far as mods go, EVERYTIME I log into the site, it seems that Lulu is in chat, so I'd say she's pretty much spread out as far as she can be. She does have her life to live. :rolleyes: I agree that there should be more mods, only because the ones we have are doing as much as they can. This being a free site, there are always going to be ppl who need to be dealt with for not behaving themselves like adults. The number of members is constantly growing and so should the number of mods just to keep up.

when those objectional issues arise, please let us remember that making someone a victim, regardless of age (but especially children), is wrong and should be avoided if possible. we are here to share and relate. i enjoy getting to know the people on this site and hope that we can all be adults and control our urges to take advantage of kids.... at least adults are better equipped to handle the mental anguish of abuse. let's give the kids a chance to grow up before we start in on the negative treatment toward them... what do you think? can we all just get along?

Now, back to paedophilia.
When I was in Primary School (the equivelant of Junior High, I think) there was a substitute teacheer that used to occasionally work at my school when a teacher was away. I remember him being a nice guy, even though I was really young. He's the kind of teacher that everyone liked - he used to take us out to all sorts of places, when we should have been at school doing work, you know? So as far as I remember, he was a normal guy, if not unusally friendly for a teacher.
Anyway, I have three nephews and four neices, all in their early teens or younger. One of my nephews and one of my neices both went to the same primary school that I went to (i'm not going to mention the name, az666 might know what im talking about, though...), and this substitute teacher still worked there when my nephew and neice went there. He also worked at a number of schools all over the island (also at the school my other neice was going to). Then, one day, I see his face in the local paper. The report says hes being arrested for having 'indecent images and videos of his students on his personal computer'. It turned out, that while fixing his computer, somebody found thousands and thousands of indecent photos of young children on his computer, and thousands of videos and images of students that he has taught in this island. Automatically, I thought of my two nephews and neices. Had he done anything to them? Had he taken photos of them, or videoed them? My first instinct was to go out, find him (it would take 5 minutes) and kill him. Seriously, I didnt even know if he had even taught my nephew or neice, only that he worked in the same school, but I felt physically sick to my stomach, and wouldnt to find him and tear his throat out.

Chat sessions often get into personal topics, such as gossip, sex, etc - that's just the nature of chat most everywhere.
There is more than one chat room on the CANNABIS.COM Chat - folks seeking more focused discussion should try using one of the other rooms listed in the room list.
While some moderation is definitely helpful, and of course appreciated, in the chat, the focus of moderation is intended to be here on the message boards; another mod or two will likely join in the near future.
Adding more mods just to cover chat won't change much there - more likely to result in flame/ban wars ... there's no way to 100% control a chat, especially when folks can't collectively agree what is acceptable and what isn't...
Often it's best to just ignore discussion one doesn't agree with, etc in a chat unless it's creating problems for other chatters, such as flooding the chat, writing overt violent threats, etc.
Lastly, I realize this is not the answer some folks want to hear, but that's just the way chat is ... for folks seeking a more focused chat, please try using one of the rooms in the chat room list; cafe members only chat is coming soon.
