I love Hendrix and you can't go wrong with Bob. You should get some Thin Lizzy. I'd say he's kinda like an Irish Hendrix.
ive become comfortably numb
just think on that line
hahahaah
peace
Besided the Usual suspects Hendrix, Marley, Floyd
My fav is Radiohead (Ok Computer and later) For some it's an aquired taste, but once your hooked there is no going back.
Ok Computer and Hail To the Thief are the best CDs so far.
A song list...
Fake Plastic Trees, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Lucky, Everyhing In It's Right Place, How to Dissapear Completely, Punchup At A wedding, The Gloaming are good songs to start.
you may want to try some Portidhead. A nice trippy hip hop R&B sound.
Songs...Strangers, Glory Box, Mourning Air, Undenied... to start
Bjork is a blast as well
anybody listen to METALLICA, cannibal corpse or some harder material?
its a real trip.
what everyone said sums it up.
I do listen to the metel bands such, craddle of filth, rammstien, korn and more.
I like listenin to Techno, Korn, System of a Down, ICP, Cotton Mouth Kings,
Blink 182, Eminem, Dre, Snoop, G-unit, Jay-Z and the best is Notorious B.I.G.

i know yaw a younger crowd into the limp biskits and chili peppers
but take a listen to classic now,but what i grew up on and still love to this day
here is one prime example.
All I Can Do Is Write About It
(Allen Collins -- Ronnie VanZant)
Well this life that I've lead has took me everywhere
There ain't no place I ain't never gone
But its kind of like the saying that you heard so many times
Well there just ain't no plae like home
Did you ever see a she-gator protect her young
Or a fish in a river swimming free
Did you ever see the beauty of the hills of Carolina
Or the sweetness of the grass in Tennessee
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
Do you like to see a mountain stream a-flowin'
Do you like to see a youngun with his dog
Did you ever stop to think about, well, the air your breathin'
Well you better listen to my song
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
I'm not tryin' to put down no big cities
But the things they write about us is just a bore
Well you can take a boy out of ol' Dixieland
But you'll never take ol' Dixie from a boy
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
'Cause I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
or from "Nuthin' Fancy
On The Hunt
(Allen Collins - Ronnie VanZant)
I said baby mama, I don't know your name
But I said baby, sugar I can play your game
Every night when we leave the hall
I see you hanging around
You wanna ride in my big black car baby
Wanna go uptown
(Chorus)
I know who you are baby
I know what they call you girl
Never put you down baby
I'm just like you baby, I'm on the hunt
I know lady
People gonna talk about you and me
Let me say one thing mama, sugar I do as I please
And if you wanna love me baby, I'm your man
And all those high-falutin' society people
I don't care if they don't undertand
(Chorus)
My daddy told me a long time ago
Said there's two things son
Two things you should know
And in these two things you must take pride
That's a horse and woman, yeah
Well both of them you ride
i think you would realy like the sound they made beating them strings
dam they were loss to the world
the NEW lynyrd skynyrd band playing now is ok too
anyway smoke on and turn it up LOUD
but man i hooked on all the old ones
i listen mostly to some Soulfly, Sepultura, Nailbomb, pantera, metallica, and sometimes a bit bob marley or jimy hendrix
Get hold of some Neil Young discs give them a spin
As good as listening to other people's music is - to really get the full meal deal you have to make some of your own. What kind? Well, if you are like me, you want to play guitars. It doesn't even have to be expensive, as if you can at least get your hands on a cheap electric guitar (who doesn't have an aunt or a cousin with an old instrument languishing in the attic?) then the world is your oyster as you can plug into anything that amplifies. Old tape decks, abandoned stereo equipment, line in jack on your soundcard - you can make cheap noise. Or if that's too physical and brutal, then get a friend to give you a copy of Steinberg's Rebirth 338. Trancing out to loops of your own creation is very gratifying. Sonic Foundry Acid is very good also.
But if you really want to listen to some prefab stoner-friendly tunes then the happy album would be "Days of Future Past" by the Moody Blues and the sad, dark album would be "Superunknown" by Soundgarden.
old school baby.floyd,skynyrd,hendrix.i like limp bizkit an icp to. :)
Rock(1950 -2004),Psychobilly,1970s punk and almost anything except boybands and shit like that.
Give these a try as well
Mystic Roots
Perry Farrell's solo work
Hooverphonic
Tabla Beat Science
...And for stoner's sake You have to Try Radiohead (albums Ok Computer and later)
Zepplin/Skynyrd/Floyd/Radiohead/Elvis Costello (man he can make me cry!) Old Bowie stuff/Could listen to Jon Jorgenson play guitar till I die. Some stuff really wrecks my buzz like Snoop Dog, man he creeps me out! A lot of rap is too woman negative and makes me very uncomfortable - it's prob my age! I grew up with Dead Kennedys/Clash/UK Subs and my alltime fav The Late Great IAN DURY, one of the great poets of our time. All you kids should check him out!
Tried everyone but Ian Dury. I thought this was standard stuff for people my age! Will have to hear some Ian Dury! Try some Radiohead while you are at it (Ok Computer and Later though "The Bends" has Planex Telex And Plastic Little Trees). They are a currnt band but you will hear Influences of Pink Floyd and even some Dead in there plus stuff thats almost too trippy.Quote:

Good call - The Blend is the dogs bollocks.Quote:

'Nother good call, Ian Dury was a genius, & much missed. DKs rock too - if you like old skool punk try Sub Hum Ans, Crass & Conflict (from a UK perspective) & Black Flag, Attitude Adjustment, Fugazi from US.Quote:

As for my addition to the thread, try Mr Scruff, Groove Armada, David Holmes, Jurassic 5, The Beastie Boys, Eat Static, Leftfield, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Ozric Tentacles, LTJ Bukem, DJ Shadow, DJ Hype, The Ganja Kru, Massive Attack, The Beatles, UNKLE, The Orb, Banco De Gaia, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, The Stone Roses, Aphex Twin, Underworld, The Kinks & The Small Faces.
Umm, I think that's pretty much my winamp stoned playlist lol
Hey errbody,
My music collection is mainly house, trance, and electronic - such as Sasha, John Digweed, BT, some older Tiesto, Oakenfold, a few Global Underground, etc.. (Collection is pretty large)
I also listen to rock - stuff like Def Leppard, Aersomith, some U2, Guns n Roses, Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, blah blah... (not too much of this)
Only 'rap' I listen to is outkast. 50 cent is dope too, as is some OLDSCHOOL snoop dogg, THAT'S IT. (I used to be into rap like a fiend back in the day, so I got A LOT of this)
Down with the Clown 'til I'm dead in the ground. Psychopathic for life. Massive.
Yo Boojum, I see you like the sounds of UNKLE, so as your attorney I advise you to roll up a cannon and use SS and download (er, sample) their track In a State (Sasha Mix).
But yeah regardless, when I'm high most of the time I'll toss in a global CD and trip.
try spacin out with some ~orthentic tenticals~....mad, trippy, round ya head kinda stuffQuote:

Pink floyd - great gig in the sky and comfortably numb
Jimi Hendrix - hey joe and purple haze
The Doors - light my fire and the end
Gram Parsons
The rolling stones - paint black and give me shelter
Bob Marley - smoke two joint's, waiting in vain and jammin
The Eagles - Hotel california
And of course you cant do without the entire works of Alanis Morissette
Love all
Dokowitz and Carbowski
hendrix, zeppelin and bob marley are beautiful!!
i'm really in a trip hop/electronica phase right now!
nothin' beats chillin' with a spliff and a glass of red wine, in a room lit only by candles, with a good Massive Attack CD (like "mezzanine"), and being consumed by the haunting beauty of their beats.
i loved enigma before i ever started smokin', however have developed a whole new appreciation
the compilation "ultra chill out 01" is also groovy
Belle and Sebastian, Nirvana, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Kinks, the Thrills, Cake, Marley, the Fu, Badly Drawn Boy.......
The list goes on and on and on.....
I like to listen to Floyd, of course. I had an ex boyfriend who would only listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd when he was stoned and that kind of rubbed off on me, too. My personal favorites are Tool and A Perfect Circle (both fronted by Maynard James Kienan- a genius). The music and effect is similar to Pink Floyd. The sound just opens up and sucks you in and consumes you! Lots of times it starts out slow and then just crashs down on you. It's like being hit over the head with drums, bass, and guitar, and leaves you with a smile, just like a joint. One of my favorites right now is "The Nurse Who Loved Me" on Thirteenth Step by A Perfect Circle.
ILL LISTEN TO ANYTHING, JUST ABOUT ALL MUSIC LISTED ABOVE KICKS ASS. IF U WANT SOMETHING NEW TRY: TECH 9Quote:
