I'm not sure if I could use the branches that stick out to the sides,the ones with the leaves,for cloning or a part that shows it's got new groth forming,"the top".Iv'e read that you clould get several clones from one plant so I'm geussing that you can use those side branches.Can some one confirm wich is it and roughly how many clones can you get from one plant?

I think the most simple answer for your question would be.......use the top few inches of any branch.I could confuse you by explaining the whole thing...but lets start here :)

The top 4-5 inches of the most vigorous growing shoots.
Don't cut into a main stem that is too thick for risk of exposing the hollow center.
It's better to pinch young so you have several growing tips from which to take clones.
before you take any clippings, make sure you have your clone medium ready either rockwool, or peat pellets, and also your choice of root hormone. There are several threads here about what to use and what luck others have had. So depending on if your going hydro you will want rockwool, if your in soil then peat, others have just put the clippings with root hormone directly in the the medium they use (when using soil). I wouldnt take any clippings unless your mother plant is about 6 weeks into veg, i'm sure people have taken them earlier but its mostly a personal choice.

take a side branch that has a couple leaf/growth sites on it (preferably)
Cut from the lower branches.. the lower on the plant you go the closer to the roots you get and the more rooting hormones there are in the plant.
Usually the lower growth is the smaller growth because of penetration issues with the canopy... so use the small growth...
As a matter of fact, the low branches' growth is suppressed by the apical dominance of the upper branches, which contain more auxin and grow more vigorously.
I've worked extensively with cuttings from both upper and lower growth and find that low growth is slow to root and VERY slow to 'take off' after doing so.
The reason you use a rooting hormone like dip-n-grow is to make up for the low concentration of naturally occurring rooting hormone in the more desirable upper branches.
Also the low branches tend to have a woodier, almost bark-like covereing, that new roots can't penetrate without the grower scraping it off.
