I read somewhere that said curing is not needed for sensimilla. Is this true? I have 5 plants that will be harvested soon and if I dont have to cure it I could be smoking a week after harvest which would be lovely. Could someone with some experience help me out here? Another thing I need to know about is flushing. How do I go about that process. The plants are in the ground and not in pots, if that makes a difference.
You CAN smoke your buds, sensi or not, as soon as they are dry, but the smoke will be many times more pleasant if you allow a couple weeks' cure first.

i didnt last year and it pretty much ruined my harvest, all of it smoked like crap.

flushing i think is where u the grower would give ur plants extra water by pouring gallons of water through the soil to fluh-out harmful salts n chemical nutes mostly used in container growing look in indoor growing threads

Flushing is when u totally wash out all the left over salts in your soil using a lot of water (use search function to find out exactly how much - something like 1 gallon for each foot of main stem, but dont quote me on that ;)), however, since your plants are in the ground i think you would just end up overwatering them especially since the ground isnt exactly renowned for its drainage properties - water logging is very bad... very very bad.
Then again i'm not exactly an authority on the subject, just something i encountered early on with my other veggies. Take from it what you will.

Yea, that would be my angle on it since i dont know of and havent read/seen/heard of any way to successfully flush your plants if theyre in the ground without getting screwed in one way or another.
And flushing is something you want to do while your plant is still in a stage of growth, one week from harvest, its hardly gonna make a difference.
P.S. Im hoping you get a 2nd 3rd and even 4th opinion from other more informed/experienced growers before taking any action.

1 gallon per foot of main stem is the measure of how large your pot should be.
Flush volume is 3x the pot volume.
Outdoors, flushing is not commonly done, unless you are growing in a container.
Simply stop feeding your plants 2-3 weeks before the harvest date.
so far that is what works, stop feeding a couple of weeks before the harvest. a little here and there if they need it, but sea bird seems to cary it through till harvest. mixed in the soil. we will see.
Curing your harvest is an important step in the cultivation process. Many new growers are so eager to try the product they don't even wait for it to mature. They cut off buds that aren't ripe and dry them out fast. I've heard of people putting buds in the microwave because they couldn't wait for them to dry. If taste, aroma and maximum potency is important to you then you want to cure your buds and not just dry them. There are many ways to do this and I'm just going to go over a few basic things. You can find whole books on the subject if you are interested.
The First Steps.
Preparations must be made well before curing begins. The experienced grower harvests his crop when 50 to 80% of the pistles have turned color. If you have grown out the strain before you have a good idea when they will be ready. You will need to clear the plants of nutrients (fertilizer) right before you harvest. The growing medium and the plants themselves store some of the nutes you have given them. This will give a nasty taste if you harvest without clearing it out. Excessive nutes will also make the buds hard to burn. Plants need fertilizer to grow and mature so you want to wait right before you are going to harvest and give them plain water. They will use up the ferts they have stored and will not slow down noticeably. If you are using hydro start clearing 3 to 7 days before harvest. This can be done by changing the solution and using only plain water. Some growers will change the solution twice because the rockwool or grow rocks may hold a little. With soil you need to change to plain water at least a week and preferably two weeks before harvest depending on how much soil in each pot. Don't use slow release ferts because they are very hard to clear out. Outdoor farmers who need to use slow release can time it and use just liquid ferts toward the end. So now you have harvested right at the peak. You cleared out the nutes beforehand and you have fragrant, spicy highly potent buds you want to preserve. The most important thing is that they must be dried. Mold is your biggest enemy once you harvest. If you have excessive moisture in the grow room you may have battled mold well before harvest and afterwards it's even more difficult. The trick is to dry them slowly so that certain biochemical processes can go on but not so slowly that mold can get a foot hold. The key is to control humidity. A good cure can last up to 8 weeks or more and will leave you with a stash that's tasty and fragrant and which has lost none of it's potency. A poor cure will leave you with nasty tasting bud that's harsh on the throat. A poor cure can even cost you your harvest.

hey i have a question. if theres nutes in my soil already, wont they keep feeding the plant even after flushing? i never use liquid ferts so is flushing not nessicary then? i use bone meal, and thats it. well i used this 15-15-15 plant food (the little time release balls) but that was like 2 months ago now
turtle, both of those are slow release so yes they would keep fertilizing untill the nutrients are used up. who knows how long that is? how much did you put in and how long were the plants feeding off it? if you didnt add too much then the plants should have optimumly(sp) used up their nutrients before harvesting.
