Move to Vancouver?
I've got a bad driving record and I have to go to court-ordered rehab. But it lasts 6 months, includes Bible study, and I don't believe in God sometimes. Maybe I could make it if it was just 3 or 4 months, but 6 seems impossible.
I know that a small amount of bud is legal within the city of Vancouver. I would like to live near the Pacific Ocean anyway, plus it's a beautiful city.
Right now, I want to go into rehab and just get it done. But there's a very real possibility that I might get kicked out. If that happens, my parents probably wouldn't let me make a pit-stop at home to pick up my furniture to bring along to Vancouver. So I'd basically just have my suitcases of clothing and hygiene products, etc. to bring with me.
I guess I could pay for a Vancouver community college with a student loan, and get a career that way...such as being a dental assistant, criminal justice worker, etc.
Do you think I should move to Vancouver right now, or just white-knuckle it through rehab?

I dunno man it just seems impossible to me to just pack up and move somewhere without a plan.

I've found some apartments...one at $500 per month. So I'd basically just get off the bus and head to my new home.

Court-ordered Bible study? I've never understood how that works.... is it Teen Challenge by any chance?

WTF damn court can't order u to Bible study! Isn't that against the separation of church and state!

Well, I had to choose one rehab program, or else spend 3 months in jail. I chose the Salvation Army. It's free. It's a 6-month rehab with Bible study. But they tell me that their program doesn't follow God too closely. It's supposed to be about getting back into the 9-5 work lifestyle, with the spiritual component on the side.
My other rehab choices would've either cost $10,000-$30,000. And one rehab costs just $2,000 but only goes for two months. And another choice lasts a whole year and is completely about Jesus. Yikes.
So, the Salvation Army seems to be my best choice.

Man! Wouldn't that be a violation of rights? To order someone to a religious event that doesn't necessarily coincide with your religious beliefs? Come onnnn !
that's messed up, i'd be taking that shit straight to the supreme court.
It's a violation of human rights! A government (in the western hemisphere anyway) shouldn't be able to force a religious opinion on anyone

It's bad enough that the judge violated my constitutional right to a fair and speedy trial. So I really have contemplated a visit to the supreme court. Like I said, bobbong, I chose the Salvation Army because it's the rehab that best fit my needs. The Bible study component just comes along with their program.

Okay, there are choices here, sure, it was the only free one. But there's some good stuff in the Bible, you can take some good stuff from it and take the rest with a grain of salt if you want. Actually, if you have enough faith against it I really don't see the harm except for the annoyance factor. I think the Salvation Army is an excellent organization, and they help so many people out asking for nothing in return except to listen to them talk for a little while about something very important to them. Unbiased perspectives should be maintained if possible, especially if you tend towards mistheism. Remember that the Evangelical Christians are not the only ones who have irrational prejudices.

If you are court ordered to go to rehab and you skip the country won't you be violating a court order as well as other charges that they will throw at you? Are you prepared to never return to the US? And as I understand it, Canada will turn you away if you are a felon or fleeing from the law. 6 months is not that long considering the alternative. Do the rehab and quit fucking around when your driving.

what substance are you trying to kick in rehab?
i'd think twice about moving to van if you have a weak resolve to stay sober, we have a rampant hard drug problem downtown.
b.c. is the most beautiful place in the world to live, but dont waste your time on the mainland, come to vancouver island
we've got all the tolerance of van city (minus the mecca-status) and it's clean and quiet
either way, make sure it's what you want to do.
if your looking for weed-heaven, go to amsterdam

I'd just play the game. It'll be over soon enough. If they bring up god just wip out your pecker, start beating off and say I love god,I love god. That should impress the shit out of them.Really though it makes this shit go a lot easier if you just make a game out of it.

You should try to put your life together here. Don't run away. I don't know many details of your situation, but leaving everything behind is usually a bad decision. I was born in Hungary, and I was brought here to the US when I was little.
Still, I believe a part of me was left back there.
