anyone know of any really good science fiction books?
ANYTHING by Phillip K Dick. Also, try William S Burroughs.
Douglas Adams, Arthur C Clarke
I'll second the Philip K. Dick recommendation. Find some place to spawl out, smoke a bowl, and read A Scanner Darkly.
Some good authors (in no particular order):
Philip K. Dick
Douglas Adams
Arthur C. Clarke
Alastair Reynolds
Isaac Asimov
Larry Niven
Jerry Pournelle
William Gibson
Michael Flynn
Ben Bova
Greg Bear
Richard K. Morgan
All of the authors already mentioned plus Cordwainer Smith (some trippy far out stuff., e.g., "The Game of Rat & Dragon"
Iain M Banks
Enders Game Series by Orson Scott Card
simply amazing stuff.
Yep, Philip K. Dick. Read Flow My Tears The Policeman Said
Man you can't forget Frank Herbert or James Tiptree Jr
Everyone's forgotten Robert A. Heinlein, not only the best sci-fi writer in history, but possibly the most important writer of anything in history.
i recomend orson s card's books, TREASON is a great one
well i ddn't know Heinlein, ill buy some of his books! thanks!
ursula k. le guin
Heinlein's great, Card's great, Dick IS A MAD GENIUS, Hebert's good (though Dune is really the only "must read" by him), Zelazny is certainly worth reading, and Le Guin's sci-fi is alright (her fantasy is better).
"The Stars My Destination" by Alfred Bester.
"Enders Game"
That book is beyond amazing, it will change your life.
The Martian Chronicles--Ray Bradbury
Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy--Douglas Adams
Cheers

Note: Author names may be spelled incorrectly, I don't fell like checking them all with my bookshelf or google.
Time Machine- Michael Chricton
Enders Game- Orson Scott Card (the whole Ender and Bean series are real good)
Enchantment- Orson Scott Card
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series- Douglas Adams
The Dune books
Anything from Raymond E. Fiest
If you have not read any of the following do so immediately:
1984-George Orwell
Fahrenheit 451-Ray Bradbury
A Clockwork Orange-Anthony Burgess
A couple more for the list,
Poul Anderson
Ira Levin
Grant-Naylor
I think the rest of my favorites are already listed.
Currently reading Robert Heinlein's Beyond this Horizon
Helstrom's Hive by Frank Herbert
The Forever War by Halderman
Hammer's Slammers David Drake.
Body Armor 2000 is a really great compilation of sci fi writers:rastasmoke:
Harry Harrison is a really good author. My personal favorite is his Stainless Steel Rat series about a super criminal in the future. Sort of a reverse James Bond in space. :D
I'm a big Michael Crichton fan. MichaelCrichton.com | Books & Movies
Check him out, (RIP) He was a great author of our time.
I once drove across Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado while listening to Sphere on tape. Made a boring drive go by in no time. :DQuote:

House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds in a spectacular science fiction book. If you like science fiction full of crazy ideas and technology read this book.
