I couldn't agree more. He's a horrible person. He deserves to go to jail for much longer than he will.
And as I heard when they were talking about it on CourTV. If he was breeding dogs, then where are the people who adopted those dogs?
-

that is the case, but ur never going to be able to convince people this...because in any issue there is going to be racial tension because we live in a diverse society

Why does everyone care about Michael Vick?
-

Because he plays football. He's a fucking moron.

That too. Another sports star proving that sports starts aren't good role models.

If anything, its reverse racism. He deserves a way longer sentence. I hope he gets raped and internally bleeds to death.
I could have totally predicted that DMX would one day get arrested for dogfighting, I knew he didn't love pits just because he is an animal lover.
People everywhere in the world need to stop viewing celebrities as gods in their own right. You don't here about the people that get harsh sentences for petty crimes that are normal citizens, but it happens. A celebrity doesn't have to follow that same set of rules because they are a celebrity. I just think the short sentences some people get are outrageous.
FUCK THE WAR ON DRUGS.

Dude, I completely agree with you. EVERYTHING a white person does or says about a black person is considered racist these days.

The irony here is that Vic will get crucified for killing dogs while OJ virtually skated on killing people...
I don't think people should raise and own any animal just to have them fight to the death for their own amusement and profit, but in my opinion people are more valuable than animals.
Personally I think PETA has it's head up it's ass bassackwards if it thinks it can make humans care more about their pets than they do their fellow humans.
Oh wait, we do. Darfur, anyone?

Dude, its humanity, theyll never learn, i was here in atlanta and my school campus is right next to the georgia dome. they still had vick supporters out there today yelling at PETA people. They had signs that said vick didnt do it and shit like that. The NAACP is such a racist organization, is sickening.

I doubt the case is due to racism, but you can't rule out racism in general when it comes to law enforcement and "justice." Racism is still very prevalent in America, whether you want to believe it or not. Well, I should say prejudice in general is very prevalent. I think most people are prejudice in some way. Except me, because I'm perfect.

He's only being sent to jail coz he's black.

I think one reason people get inflamed over abusing dogs and other animals is that, as the 'superpower' species, we are supposed to be the stewards of the land and the creatures. They don't have much in the way of free will or any real ability to determine their own destiny, or if they do, we don't allow them to exercise it much. In that way, animals are like babies. We're supposed to help them, protect them, not abuse them, not strap them in cages to be brutally raped.
At least human beings, including the ones in Darfur, do have some free will. They could pack up and leave. They could get some guns and shoot back at their oppressors. They could set traps or mines for those that oppress them. Human beings have *many* more choices than dogs or other animals do. It's not as much a matter of what species is more important, but rather, which species is more *helpless* in the face of human brutality.

i say we put the dogs in recovery and beef em back up..put vick on a tredmill with a shock collar so when he falls behind we shock him..then starve him for a week or so, then pit him against all his healthy back to normal pitbulls in a dogs vs vick fight...i'd pay good money to see that

a good slave owner?:wtf:
thats the most contradicting statement i have heard in my live. its a complete contradiction. how in the world can there be a good slave owner. what he feeds the slave well and shit but at the end of the day he is forcing someone to work hard labor and stips them of their freedom. oh thats a good slave owner.
and wtf does slavery have to do with the whole issue.

As a white guy born and raised in Mississippi I can agree that the charges are not racist, but the past has seen the process of applying and prosecuting such charges heavily influenced by both race and money (white is better, white and rich is best).
When folks shout 'racism', it is not so much about the charges as it is they want the process to be the same for all, regardless of skin color, bank balance, fame, etc.
Things are better today than when I was young (I remember segregation), but to think Georgia is free of prejudices (on both sides) would be naive.
Peace.
p.s. No place is immune to these corruption factors.

I am pissed off at the fact that the Falcons aren't kicking him off the team. That is bullshit.
And speaking of racism in the courthouse, I totally agree. It isn't a racism issue. If you wanna go deep about it, Rodney King was made into a race issue which it shouldn't been. There is the video of the LAPD beating the shit out of him, but maybe if King wasn't on PCP and lifting cops over his head and throwing them that then the LAPD wouldn't have had to beat him in the first place. For real.

I believe the reason the Falcons haven't kicked him out yet is due to Money issues.

I just want to point out that it took 18 posts before anyone addressed this line. Despicable. I want to comment further but I don't know where to even start. I'll just say to everyone that reads this and to those that have commented above, that if you sincerely see racial issues in these kinds of "us vs. them" terms, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.
Now about Michael Vick, the thing I'm most struck by is how unbelievably stupid he was. He's a national celebrity with a $130 million contract and $40-$50 mil in endorsements, and he essentially financed a small organized crime operation and left all the evidence on his property. Plus, the dogfighting betting was apparently for like a maximum of 10 grand a fight, which is literally pocket change for him.
Lets compare this to Pete Rose, who bet on baseball with a bookie and did a mediocre job of hiding it, made MUCH MUCH less money than Michael Vick and bet like up to $100,000 a week. What Michael Vick did was basically the same as if Pete Rose ran is own illegal bookmaking operation, kept extensive records that he left carelessly strewn around his vacation house, and wouldn't accept bets over $10. Ridiculous. Stupidity that is truly awesome in quality and magnitude.
I'll also say that a big part of the racial aspect of this is because of Atlanta. Literally EVERYTHING that happens in Atlanta is a racial issue. You can't cross the street without it having some sort of racial aspect to it. I only lived there about 6 months and the racial tension was suffocating.
Though to be fair to Atlanta, its racial situation has its good sides to. Mainly that because there are so many of both white and black people, and neither is really in a minority position (blacks because of population, whites because of power and influence), that you get a whole lot of white and black people just being cool and treating each other like normal people, which is really badass to experience.

This is some of the most ignorant shit I've ever read. Open up any history book and you'd realize that this kind of bullshit is what the majority of slave owners used to rationalize their barbarism. "Oh,well we feed em and house em and don't beat em too much, so who gives a fuck about liberty or freewill"
The fact that you brought this shit just proves that racism still exists. People are just better at being politically correct these days.
That said, the people saying that the Vick case is race based are mostly just soapboxing. They're taking advantage of a high profile case involving a black man and using it to espouse their own political or social agenda. Vick fucked up and that's pretty much it. If a good ole boy like Jeremy Shockey was doing the same thing, I don't doubt that he'd be booked and crucified my animal lovers just the same.
People who are calling it a racial agenda only make it harder to have any rational discourse about any actual racism thats going on. Same shit happened during the Imus incident. Is Imus a douchebag? Mos def, but being a senile old douchebag with a lame sense of humor doesn't make you worthy of being a focal point on a debate on race issues.
Of course if this thread is any proof, you'll tend to gain a pretty good insight into what people really believe anytime the concept of 'racism' is brought up. "We're not racist but these damn <insert race> need to stop being so uppity!"

Fuckin' A Lankan Lion! You speak nothing but the truth. That there is five paragraphs of solid gold.
This thread disgusts me. There's such unbelieveable bullshit in some of these posts, I can't even start seriously commenting without feeling like I have to write a whole discourse on race. People need to get there fucking minds right.
But what do you think reader?

It's funny, the guy who started this thread basically (inadvertently) did a pretty good job of how unable/unwilling the general white public is to recognize how much racism still runs rampant. I mean, how can anybody possibly read the original post without their very first reaction being outrage at the original poster's description of slavery. I honestly wish I had thought of posting something like this just to prove how much racism and lack of recognition of racism still exists, but this guy beat me to it.
This actually reminds me a lot of something Sasha Baron Cohen would do in a Borat skit. I could totally see Borat going up to some white people and saying something along the lines of "This Michael Vick is scum of earth, we should hang him from tree with rope around neck and let every citizen come and beat him with stick. Then we should attach him to cross and burn him at stake in the middle of Atlanta. Then we should go around and kill every chocolate-face we can find so we can be rid of the stupid animals." The same people who failed to speak out against the blatantly racist comments made by the thread starter would probably go along with Borat in such a situation. The bottom line is that if Distortion's post and the subsequent (lack of) reactions doesn't show you that racism most definitely exists to an extremely disturbing degree in this society, I don't know what would.
