it also won't turn on unless I hold the button down for long time,
until it finally makes this screeching noise, then it turns on
lol that reminds me of an ex!

hit it with a random object..always works for me! lol..uhm seriously tho idk..
Do you keep it on when you go to sleep and such? Sounds like some hardware is failing, is it really old or anything like that? Try getting some compressed air and spraying in the fan areas.
Yikes! That doesn't sound good. I'm the last person who could diagnose a technical or equipment problem, sadly. But if it helps you feel like you're in good company, the big refrigerator in our kitchen is whirring ominously during the cycles while its compressor is on. This must not be a good day for vital equipment.
you know, sometimes I think machine energy and human energy don't mix well:DQuote:

Look on the back on it, somewhere there'll be a little fan if you listen close you can probably hear it, or feel the wind coming out of one of the holes. You can just spray it where ever there's a slot that isn't used for connecting something. I'm not really sure if that'll work though, sorry.
Maybe your laptop is pissed you can smoke and he can't.
Hissing is probably a fan getting dirty or maybe the bearings wearing out. I'd be more worried about the power button though. If your motherboard fails that's not good.
If it still has warranty you should call them.
It kinda sux that after a laptop's warranty runs out, there's really no efficient way to fix it.
definately take it in to get looked at, it could either be a problem with the fan (loose, dirty jammed, stripped) or a problem with the motherboard (not as familliar with problems there but i can tell you... thats bad, really bad)
My laptop was getting random bad pixels all over once, and they'd disappear and come back all the time.
Since it had warranty I sent it in. The motherfuckers sent it back without fixing it. So I took a screwdriver and tried to fix it myself. My laptop wouldn't even turn on later. I sent it back and just told them it's the same problem but got worse. Then they fixed it lol.
Stupid sevicemen need something to be dead before they'll take a look at it lol.
i could piss for england after a couple of pints, SORRY you said hissing.
Sorry i can't be of any help i dont know nothing about comps but hope you get it sorted without no cost and hassel.
hiss back at it !
make sure there's not like a snake in it or something.
I used to work in a notebook repair centre, when they make a lot of noise its normally because something is rubbing against the CPU fan, some wires or a screw than has become loose. Open it up and have a look inside, unless you risk invalidating your warranty.
I wish I could help you, I hate computers so much! My computer makes me restart it every few hours or the internet won't work. Not only that but when the internet does work it hardly works at all(that has been happening ever since I let a certain someone use my computer). Everyone is like "your computer sucks!" I'm like....well it wouldn't suck if I didn't let fuckers like you touch it! Seriously, some people.
Dude, theres a snake in it. Get a sledgehammer and show that shit whos boss!
Hmmm, we have cute little striped snakes in the backyard, maybe one snuck in?
Anyway, my little macbook is quieter today, so go figure. But now my hubby's computer just cut out TWICE as I was trying to order a little shirt online- hey, is it possible he has set it up so that as soon as I type in a catalog number, it cuts out????
just kidding, but it is an odd coincidence, no?
