My Grow ( In case anyone cares)

Hope this works New here so thought these links might show up..

My grow this year consist of two plants growing outside in a scrog method and two plants growing side by side I have Named Stan and Ollie due to Stan being tall and skinny and Ollie being short and big/bushy All are doing fine except for one plant that has a Black Tip problem and I have yet to get it under control and may have to pluck her.

All the seed are unknown genetics and I just started a few dozen and picked the ones that were a bit different so I had a variety for the grow. Last Year I grew two plants and got 1.5lbs of bud and about a 1/4oz of hash using reflux extraction from the scrap at harvest. So I expect a 2 pound harvest from the three plants of 3 different varieties since I think the 4th one is not a gona make it..

Oh and by the way.. For Scale.. Stan the tall one stands about 6'2" at her highest point and has just started flowers and Ollie is about 4'6" and 5 foot across.. and just started flower also but Stans a bit faster on the bud... The Scrogs are very skunky so my guess they are both Sativas .. and are about 9 feet by 4 foot size of the wire top of the scrog..

wooow siik that scrog looks dank...1.5 lbs off of 2 plants damnnn ..i have 11 outside and i was only expectng like 3 pounds ne tips..wat kind of nutes and watering schedule you use... i have 6 nirvana supergirl,3 blueberrylowryder and 2 mexican sativas...

Well thanx fellers for the kind words.. Ok since ya asked.. I start out by digging a big hole in what is pretty much clay Ky dirt and it holds about 20 gal of fill. I fill each hole with a big bag of Pre nuted potting soil and a big bag of Pearlite for holding a bit of water. That Miracle Grow bagged stuff. I nute using regular Miracle Grow all purpose High N until I see flowers and switch to Miracle Bloom at that point. Nothing fancy as I figure that all the micro nutes will be available from the soil around. I also make it a point to clip tips early on and I know I've been told a doz time that clipping will hurt yield but I have found that I get smaller buds but a bunch more of em.. and in the long run clipping until flowering starts has produced about a 15% greater yield than letting it grow naturally . I'm a disabled Vet and actually use it instead of taking all the pain killers the VA keeps pushing on me. At the rate I'm seeing in Stan I think she will be about 11 feet tall at finish and Ollie will top out about 7 feet and yes I have avaraged around 3/4 lb per plant in the last 5 grows. and this one is following the same rates so far.

As for scrog I have a very limited space so I thought this year I would try it and it seems to be doing peachy. I keep spreading the limbs to fill the wire frame until it starts to flower and then start clipping the tips to force branching and get a good full flat bud mat across the wire..

I have tried many nutes from buying individual nutes and mixing to none at all and have so far found I do just as well with good old fusion Miracle grow as with all the fancy stuff. I haven't had any bug problems and that mainly due to an abundance of lady bugs and birds that pop the snails and creepy crawlies around. I had a fear that Stan was just a Fiber Hemp plant due to its tall early flowering but the other night I snipped a couple new growth buds and its not rope hemp.. Kicked my old ass.. and I did some trimming and did the Butane extraction thing and got a gram or two of hash and it was very sweet in flavor and as good as any I've had in a long time.. So other than the one plant that has a problem with what I think is a Mildew type mold forming on growing tips I have no issues.. and they are looking very purdy when I go down in the cut and sit and watch the humming birds whizzing about .

Im speachless. I wanna see some finished bud. Very nice!

Ok.. try to anwser.. The Black is not a Nute def.. Its spreadable by touch to unaffected tips. Its some kinda mold but fungicide has done nothing..I put up some shots and asked for help in the problems thread but noone has seen it before..

And Yes its just 3 plants in the scrog shots thats only a shot of two plants you see. The one nice growing one is about 4 feet by 5 feet across the wire and the one with the black tips is about 3 X3. Stan (The tall one ) its hard to tell I'll have to set my camera and take a shot with me standing beside her but shes about 6 or 7 inches taller than me .. I cut the lower branches because she started early and was pretty straight up so cut all the lower stuff to give Ollie more room for her fat ass.

And on the finish.. I cut all nutes and go with just water for the last 2 weeks and I spray em all over during water, The No Water on the buds or leaves for 3 days before harvest.
The last two grows I have had to make a Vis-Screen tent around them for the last few weeks of finish as it starts to get frosty in the mornings around here and before I started doing that I would get the occasional frost bit buds. I bought some 12 foot Re-Bar rods and just plunk them in the ground in a circle around the whole grow and wrap the vis-screen around and over .. the heat of the ground keeps them just above freezing during the cold fall nights. As they progress I'll pop in some more pics of the plants and bud and some of the final harvest and Hash , I have a Soxflet Refluxer lab setup to make hash but lately I been using Butane and made a lab glass extractor that can hold about 2 oz of fine grind and gives about 15 grams of hash per run. If anyone is interested in that setup or the Soxflet setup let me know and I'll do a write up with pics the next time I make a batch. You get more hash from the Soxflet than butane but the butane produced a much purer extraction.

Also after harvest I trim all the buds and put them in a big Brown paper bag and turn daily until cured . I find this gives the best color and texture cure , much better than hang drying. To make hash I then dry in low oven 120deg until very,very dry and grind in a morter and pestal to a fine flour then extract.

One of these days I'm a gona have to get some really good seeds but being on a fixed VA income I just can't bring myself to pay 10 bucks a seed. Guess I'll just have to wait till the Seed Fairy drops in to visit some day... Being an old gezzer way back in the sticks of KY I'm patient ... Just jump on my HD and ride the hills with a buss that makes all the pretty flowers look so much better.. If anyone is interested in photos of rides and flowers I take as I go about the mountians heres where I put all my photos and writings (Every boys gota have a hobby)

Oh By The Way... Just a thought from an old man thats been growing for some 35 years both inside and out.. I think some make it way to complicated. Its a weed.. And I've tried Hydro indoor, hydro out door, soil in and out, High tech digital control fully automated grow room using CO2 injection and a machine controler for all the feed water light stuff ( Direct Logic controlers) and have had just as good smoke if I plant a seed in good soil with simple miricle grow nute and a bag of good dirt as any thing I have tried ..and get more also.. So just from an old grower thats pretty much tried everything .. simplify your life ... Enjoy the moments of just watching plants grow and spend less time trying to find that perfect formula .. Plants do better with Less not More.. In an outdoor grow Nutes are way less important than indoor as nature will provide most of the good stuff.. Lifes to short to sweat the little shit... Enjoy every moment as each can only be lived once and can never be relived again...

Hi boys and girls..

Since I got several thoughts about Scrog and it seems a novel idea for an outside grow I thought I would detail my reason and method of the grow.

First I started 30 seeds of varied strains and picked those that seemed the fastest, closest nodes and best overall look.

I grew them indoors in a mini green house tray untill I was sure that frosts were over for the spring.

I ended up with 4 plants I chose for the scrog. I planted in a mixture of Miragrow pre ferted potting soil and Pearlite and Vermiculite in a 10/1/1 relation. I dug 20" across holes about 2 foot deep ( 2 of em) and planted the 4 plants that were about 6" tall at time of plant.

My soil is Clay based so to help in drainage as the holes just become big pots around here untill roots drive into the clay so I drove a couple of 3/4" PVC pipes into the bottom of the holes about 3 feet down and covered with broken clay pots bits before filling with my soil mix. I also buried 4 - 1/2 gal plastic milk jugs so that just the caps were above the ground with several small nail holes around the bottoms, 2 in each hole. These allow fert to be added in the jugs and slowly leach into the soil. This also helps keep them getting a drink when I miss a few days.

When the plants grew to about 2 foot tall I drove 6 8 foot pieces of ReBar into the ground around the plants in a rectangle of about 4 foot by 8 foot in size.

I planted 4 plants as I figured 1 or 2 would be males and I wanted 2 fems for the scrog set. I tipped the tips of each limb to force multi branching.

As the plants grew I used wire to GENTLY bend the major branches down and over a period of 2 weeks I had them all pretty flat.

I then cover the whole area with Chicken Wire attached to each of the Rebars around the grow. Due to the Soil Mix I did not add any Nutes as the soil is well nuted for at least 4 months.

As the plants grow they tend to poke their little tips up through the Wire and had to be pushed GENTLY back under the wire so they spread evenly under the wire as they grow. I also kept tipping the faster growing tips to force more branching ( and give me a sample of the smoke along the way) .

In this case I did find 2 males of the 4 and offed them as soon as they showed ( made Butane extraction hash with them) which left 2 fems.

Along the way one of the fems developed a Black Tip problem that to this day I have no idea what it was but nothing I tried fixed it so I off the girl and Burned her to kill of the What Ever It Was.

SO now I have 1 fem and she covers a 4 foot by 4 foot square with hundreds of buds poking out. I have continued to tip any that are growing faster than then rest of the tips to keep them fairly level across the flat.

After 4 months I fert with Miracle Grow All Purpose nutes until the start to show bud then I switch to Miracle Grow Bloom Builder and used Half the concentration as recommended on the box and fert one a week with clean water every other day between nutes. And the photos show who its looks at the moment.

I recommend this method for all you folks that are concerned about tall plants in your back yard drawing attention and getting damaged in storms as they will stay low and not look anything like a Xmas tree plant that causes lots of looks and because the wire intertwines with the plant they can stand up to gale force winds, rain and all kind of stuff that would break down unsupported plants.

Scrog works very well outdoors and you end up with a flat square with just the Buds covering the whole area where under the wire all the leaves drop off as above the wire the Buds block almost all the sun from getting below the wire.

Not sure which will produce the most finished bud but I grew two other plants , one Sativa and one Indica ( at least that how they look) so I could compare quantity after finish and will pass that along then. If quantities are close I intend to do All scrog next grow as from my view almost no one that has looked at it can tell its pot. They all think its a Veggy growing in my garden of beans,tomatoes and melons.. until they get close enough to id the individual leaves..

At this moment the Scrog is 4X4 foot and the most buds are about 5 to 8 inches across the grid if wire. And I estimate 2 to 3 Hundred individual buds in the from 1 to 8 inches tall above the wire..

I myself am of the keep it simple stupid school. I only wish I could grow outdoors like you. Beautiful work. I'm going to use some of your techniques. Thanks for the post.

I always wanted to grow outside too...but too many flyover choppers here. My neighbor got busted with 21 in his back yard, the first of August, the fool. They took a good look at my yard too, the rotor wash from the chopper, blew my obsolete TV antenna down.

KISS... I wanted 3 plants.. would have settled for 4 .. didn't see the need to go through all that changing light and stuff ... just start a bunch of plants and weed out the males and I got what I wanted .. If I had bought 10 seeds for 100 bucks I might have but when I have a few hundred mixed seeds I just Keep It Simple and Stupid.. I should get about 1.5 to 2 lbs from the 3 plants so it seems to work just fine without getting into working to hard to grow a weed... I don't know why but I have never had a problem with plants.. I got 52 full size tomatoes from 1 plant this year.. and all I ever do is water and use Miracle grow of general purpose or bloom mix.. Last year I grew 2 plants and got a bit over a pound of dry bud.. one was just over 12 feet at finish...

That Sux.. I have a bit of a different situation as I'm a disabled Vet and it was either smoke or take pain killers that have strung me out in the past. The sheriff knows I smoke and has been over to see my plants before. he knows I'm not gona grow 10 acres and sell it.. all the folks around know I grow a couple plants a year and know its the ONLY law I do not obey. And they know I'm not gona smoke 5 joints and take off in the car for a cruse through town.. I make no effort to hide except to keep it out of direct view, not because of law but because I got some relatives that would steal your false teeth if they thought they could sell em for a buck... guess theres an upside at being a Hillbilly :smokin:

Hello All again.. Just wanted to update .. as I have mentioned before Stan is finishing far earlier that Ollie or Scrog .. ( also a bit wierd at least for me.. Stan is Tall and slim and big Wide leaves and is getting close to finish While Ollie is Short, bushy with Skinny leaves and just getting buds well formed.. and will be a late finish.. All Sativas I have grown before are tall but had skinny leaves and finished late all the indicas were short, bushy with broad leaves) ...

So today I snipped a bud from one of the colas on Stan, cause shes only a couple weeks from finish by the looks of it, and Just smoked a bowl and thought I would report her status ... and the best word is Daaaaamn.... I have no idea what her genetics are but she has a sweet smell that reminds me of raw vanilla. The flavor is also a bit on the vanilla side and the most potent bowl I've smoked in a long time... more body buzz and a bit of a auditory effect.. but really nice..

I took one long hard hit from a glass bowl and let it have a few moment to hit the system and got a really good buzz from just 1 hit.. and its been a while since I tried any smoke around here that could do that. I'm still felling that hit and its been 20 or so minutes...

Well thats it..Test over.... so now lets see what the rest of the bud will do... I Gone....:thumbsup:

The girls are doing purdy good.. just about ready I just been waiting for the last passable day to harvest.. Stan.. (Tall skinny one) has really been done for about a week or so and I have been cuttin bud for use till ready for all. Ollie has become so heavy shes drooping her buds almost to the ground and I had to rope her off to keep from breaking branches due to bud weight alone.. There has to be 2 to 3 hundred buds on her .. small buds but lots and lots of em.. Stan only has a few buds but they are HUGE .. Scrog is running a bit later as shes still filling is.. She is a Skunk as the smell is very heavy, Stan is a Indica and has a bit of vanilla smell where as Ollie is a Sativa and has a sweet almost ginger smell. As for the buzzez... Ollie is Strong narco high thats a lay back and stay there buzzzz... Stan is more of a street pot head.. just a good flavor and a good buzz but not as narcotic as Ollie.... Scrog is another creature altogether.. Shes Very strong laughing dope.. more happy buzzz ... playing in the sand buzz... Screw till you can't walk buzz... shes my Fav.. Shes got small buds but there are over a 1000 of em on her and shes still about 2 weeks from finish ( unless it looks like were gona get frost and thens shes toast)

Yes its grown as a SCROG grow.. its a single skunky plant and you simply set a screen over it at about 2 feet and keep all the branches under the wire so that only the buds pop through.. you get smaller bud but many times more of em.. and you don't have to worry about plants getting trashed by weather and rain.. takes a beating out doors..
