That is a kick ass ring
Any of you play Lotro?
Melkane reminds me of Melkor...
Any serious Tolkien book nerds?
To answer both of your questions
I'm currently reading Lord of the Rings and plan to tackle Silmarillion afterwards and continue from there.
I'm currently playing LotRO, I have a lv 21 Dwarf Guardian.
I have been reading J. R. R. Tolkiens books since I was 8. I have read the trilogy at least 30 times. Your nerdiness is echoed greatly by a good number of people! I, for one, am envious of such an awesome gift. Oddly enough... I just watched the Fellowship of the Ring a few nights ago before my power was cut off. In fact... its still stuck in my computer lol...
Oooh, the Sil's a good read- I suggest taking notes, though. Seriously. I was 9 when I began the Sil, and ended when I was 12. It can get really complicated, but it's AMAZING.
My favorite Sil tale is definately Earendil the Mariner, or maybe Feanor and Melkor with the whole Silmarils ordeal. The descripitive nature of EVERYTHING just makes the book stand out on it's own.
No! Melkane you fool, get rid of before it consumes you!
What's that? Give it to me you say?
The power is too great, you mustn't tempt me!!!
LOL that brought tears of laughter and joy to my eyes.Quote:

I've read some of the first book and some of the Sil, but I couldn't get into them. To thick, and I'm not a big fan of that style of fantasy.
youll be a pretty pretty princess in that
i suggest you use the power of that gift to take control of cancom. i'm certain that sundance uses one of the lesser rings to run things around here and with yours you could easily bend him to your will.
maybe you could get me a pony, too.:D
An update..
My cat Raziel...wants the precious. I can't sleep at night any more because his eyes are always watching...watching...
The other day I was sitting here on my futon and he came up acting like he wanted me to pet him, then he started looking at the precious dangling from my neck...and HE TRIED TO TAKE THE PRECIOUS...
yo dude, not at all. i have one myself. i wear it all the time. its cool
A big Tolkien fan, bought all the special edition LOTR DVD's, but Pratchett's Discworld is my real passion.
NCM

Oh man, one of the best times of my life was the opening of RotK. Our local theater had a triple header of the first two extended movies before RotK at midnight, so I spent a month beforehand making an exact replica of not only the Witch-King's cloak, but also his armor (excluding the breastplate and helmet) out of sheets of foam. The gauntlets had all the individual plates as well, every plate was painstakingly measured for scale and fit. I got in trouble for carrying around the wooden sword I made though... but I did get into the newspaper, grinning like a complete idiot. We also got three frames of the original film reels in a sweet display stand. Twelve hours in a theater is a really long time to be sitting down. I'll try and find some pictures of it.
Precious you say? It's been called that before, but not by you....Quote:

Cool ring. Throw it in the fire and see if it reveals the elvish! Actually... I'd think twice before throwing it in the fire.
