Just wondering if they legalise weed and it went to say $15.00 a 1/4 ounce but they put a 15.00 tax on it would you buy? Now without saying it would need to be something like hash cross with g13 or a little ol skunk #1 miked in. Give me indica or give me death.:)

yeah i agree with stinkyattic, of course these taxes need to be paid, id much rather be able to legally smoke and not have to worry bout it and pay a lil tax then the other option...and chances are if it were legal prices would drop to the point evn with a tax itll be much cheaper than what street prices are
So now the question becomes: If all of us here actualy smoked this "weed" just by using the "mans" own numbers (1 in 4) we could extrapolate the amount of tax revenue created, never mind the fact that more peopl would toke if they didnt have to worry about the poke. So i guess the next question is can we get a consensus from membership of how much weed would u smoke IF it were legal? I would pay my taxes in a heartbeat... I kind of have to....I get audited every 3 years whether I need it or not....so much for being a sole propriator business owner.
Keep in mind that when its legalized, that the tobacco companies are already geared up to mass production, complete with packaging, labeling, advertising, etc. All they need is the law passed.
Personally, when its legalized, we won't have to grow, and the street prices won't be able to compete with $20 for a pack of joints.

302,629,020 people---us census bureau
times 25% equals==75,657,255 people smoking weed,ok then multiply by 4qrtrs a month(my estimate)==302,629,020 qrtrs a month smoked times 15. dollars per qrtr==4,539,435,300.00 dollars per monthtimes 12== so we could conceivably add an extra 54,473,223,600.00 dollars to the us economy!!!!! Talk about FLOWER POWER!! cigs would go out of vouge and weed would spread like well weeds.

I would definately pay taxes on weed to smoke it legally.
As for hypothetic terms, there would definately be an age requirement, probably 18 or 21, but still it would be sweet. And for the minors, if ya can get somebody to buy you alcohol, then you can find someone to buy your weed.

If it's legal, i'd pay tax - it'd still be cheaper than it is now, but if it was legal i'd be growing my own in very large amounts [only a few at a time for now] and i wouldnt pay those wankers in Government a penny.

Yeah but the tobacco company weed would probably be shitty. There would probably be the mass produced brand name weed, which would be sold everywhere, but only special stores would have real, natural, good weed.

i know this is kinda off topic on the taxes thing...but if it was legal i think that it would have to be monitored by the city, or somthing. I just cant see everybody going to work high n stuff being very well for the economy i would love to see it happen but will it?

I would happily pay taxes on weed purchased from conventional businesses, but I wouldn't pay taxes on any other transactions (buying from friends, etc). Tax evasion is not so much a problem if you are not a business owner and don't keep records. If you were living in a really expensive home or a high scale apartment, and driving a BMW, and there's no way your regular job could afford you such lavish lifestyle, then maybe that would bring on the scrutiny.
If it's needed to get high, then I would suck it up and pay the taxes. As a grower I wouldn't be worried about such things anyhow. They would probally have some sort of tax system for growers as well so if it becomes legal a lot of people will still grow illegally if it was taxed im sure.

Another problem the government would have with legalized weed is the fact that it's so easy for anybody to grow it in their own house. The government can't tax you on plants you're growing in your basement or on your windowsill, so my guess is a lot of people would go that route, especially if they already have a set-up.
I'd pay them, in the end the legalized price plus taxes would most likely be significantly less than what one pays now (when its illegal).
I would gladly pay taxes on it to eleminate the risk of it, legality wise.
no because the U. S. was always against Marijuana. why let them benifit from it pluss then they would try to arrest the growers for tax evasion or sum dumb shit like that. Let them keep taxing thier holy tobbacco and see how much profit they make from it once weeds legal.

paying the taxes is not really the problem it is getting it legalized. dont build the roof before the foundation.
I think we would see much the same set up as the ABC stores. Though not necessarily ON the shelf, but Top shelf is the best and great for smoking. bottom shelf would be for butter and hash maybe....(sort of a grade of smoke system) hmmm That could work.
