Dude Ron Paul is a fuckin awesome dude! Even though he is a Republican and i've never voted Republican I would definitly vote for this guy cause I agree with everything he talks about from getting out of Iraq, to the reasons why terrorists hate us, to the marijuana legalization. Anyone on this board who doesn't vote for Ron Paul doesn't really love weed that much. Or value freedom for that matter.
The Only USA Presidential Candidate In Favor Of Legalization
Sorry, I'm not voting for a conservative Republican, regardless of his or her stance on marijuana legalization. There's more to life than smoking pot...like health care, education access for the less-than-wealthy, helping the poor with a leg up on improving their lives, fixing our crumbling electrical and road infrastructure, protecting the environment, the right to choose, gay rights, protection of civil liberties, division of church and state, and so on.
But okay, if I had to choose a Republican, he'd probably be my choice. I'm not even sure of what his stance is on all the issues I listed, but it doesn't matter: if he supports those then he won't get the Republican nomination, and if he doesn't he won't get my vote. So either way, he won't be getting my vote, and it's highly unlikely that he will be the Republican nominee and thus won't get any votes at all.

I mentioned Ron Paul's stance on Legalization because it is something that may interest people here. His stance on other topic's like the economy, civil liberties, education, gay rights, and personal liberties is right on the money and worth taking the time to learn about. There are a lot of good video clips on You Tube or check out his website. Oh and by the way he only joined the Republican Party because the system is so biased against third party candidates.
Thanks for the comments :)

But the question is, would you vote for him if he was nominated?

Having said that, Paul really does seem to be the only possible GOP nom worth a damn. He's not one of these current repugs who puts party ahead of country, and sold out to big business and the religious right. It speaks volumes that fellow conservatives tried to shut him out of debates. He's pragmatic and intelligent, and I have yet to see him try to pander to the emotions of the FAUX "News" crowd. He's pro-small government and quite focused on liberty.
He can think on his feet and is a successful person in life, unlike the current muppet we have in the White House. I'd vote for him, and that's saying something as I've sworn off supporting the right-side of the isle ever since these neoconservatives took over and shot this country in the foot.
Hell, as long as Hillary and Giuliani both aren't EVER in the White House I'll be happy.

The only candidate? What about Mike Gravel? And he's a Dem.
He wants to legalize marijuana altogether. Bottom line: Paul Vs. Gravel - It doesn't matter who wins. America wins regardless.

I do, and consider it a bit of a "red herring" in that it's almost expected given the man's profession, but also in that a presidents position on abortion is largely symbolic. An offered litmus test to the voters if you will. Roe v Wade isn't going anywhere, the religious right needs it as a motivator as much as the left wants it as a woman's freedom. Be that as it may, one doesn't have to sport any kind of religious affiliation to be uncomfortable with abortion. I would hope the women in my life wouldn't opt for that path, but should they be in that position and deem it necessary they're entitled to safe medical procedures just like the rest of us. Her body, her choice. Don't like abortions? Don't get one - it's that simple. The male who 'plowed the field' should really be the only other relevant voice in the affair, that's my one caveat.
Anyway, he isn't the ideal libertarian candidate, just better than the others in the mix. The GOP is rotten, with a few exceptions. I feel Paul is one of them.
I dunno, I'd like to believe that the last 7 years have been a wakeup call to everyone, but it seems I'm always being amazed by the short-term memories and political polarization of my fellow countrymen.
I'm sorry, I just have a hard time taking the "pro-life" movement seriously. If reducing abortions is their goal, fighting sex education and poverty assistance tooth and nail is a funny way to do it. And that's saying nothing of the same crowd being largely pro-war and pro-capital punishment. (Don't take that to mean I'm not pro-war, I believe war is a necessary evil. I'm just not pro-stupid war. I'm pro-security ;) )

I really like Ron Paul's view on abortion.

My bad, I was unaware Mike Gravel was for legalization when I made this thread. After researching Gravel I think he would make a great president, but Ron Paul would bring about more positive changes.

I forgot to mention an important distinction concerning Paul's view. While he himself considers it immoral, from his political standpoint he is against the funding of abortion.
That's a lot different than actively going after Roe v. Wade via loading the USSC with like minded conservative judges.
Which is why the far-right are petrified of his running and will do whatever they can to discredit and impede his campaign.

Well, I'm a liberal, so whoever they toss out there, I'm apt to vote for. I won't mind an 'Obillary' either - Clinton/Obama. I'm all for breaking glass ceilings, and that ticket would break two: a woman as president, and a black(ish) man as vice president. Or vice versa, that'd be better, because I like Obama's health care plans better so far.
Mainly, I don't want a conservative picking Supreme Court justices for a while, as the scales have tipped too far to the right there. I think I read that out of like 9 decisions they've made recently, all of them swung right, including the freedom of speech issue with the guy with the 'bonghits4jesus' banner off school grounds (but visible from school grounds).
Plus, heck, the last Democrat in the White House, blow jobs aside, did a pretty good job in my opinion. He actually *accomplished* what Republicans always *say* they want to do: balance the budget. He had a surplus going instead of a massive generation-crippling deficit. Clinton used his veto powers to kill a whole lotta Congressional pork. If the price for those good years was him getting blown a couple of times by a chubby intern, well, that's an acceptable price so far as I'm concerned.
And knowing how badly Bill wanted a third term (which he surely would have won were it legal), having Hillary as president would be a cool way for him to sneak in through the back door. I mean, c'mon, he was one of the more entertaining presidents we've had - I just can't pass up the chance to see him become the first First Dude! If Hillary is thinking about doing something idiotic as president, I'm sure Bill would say something. Maybe Hillary doesn't have huge gobs of experience, but she'll have that experience in bed with her at night.
Oh, and thanks for the welcome back, BlueDevil! ;)

I used to think i was a liberal as well but now it turns out that I am moderate. I have liberal views on some things such as the war on terror and the war in Iraq. I also hold conservative views on things such as taxes, gun control, and the death penalty.
