or muscles, whatever you call it, how NICE are they!? I love them! Has anyone got any good recipes or methods what they cook it or eat it with that they have tried before? I tried it just now with garlic sauce and that was beau-ti-ful! mm :stoned:

Cannabis Campbell, in America shellfish is usually used to denote the whole group of marine animals with a shell like shrimp, scallops, crabs, lobsters, clams, oysters, and mussels. Most mussel recipes involve steaming them in a pot with white wine, garlic, shallots, lemon, and some herbs. Foodnetwork's website has some good recipes and here is a basic recipe from Bonefish Grill, which has these as an appetizer and I love it, soak up the sauce with some of their bread, yummy yummy.
4 cups mussels
Steam mussels in skillet over high heat until shells open up
Combine the following ingredients to taste:
Chopped red onion
Chopped tomatoes
Kosher salt
Minced garlic
Basil cut in strips
Annissette (licorice-flavored cooking liquor)
Lemon butter sauce
Combine all ingredients to create a sauce, pour over mussels in large bowl.

^^^Well that's pretty much it, snail of the sea. I love conch fritters as many restaurants here in Florida sell them.

you know i never thought i'd ever consider trying snails... as i think of them like bugs...
but, if i ever get the chance i'll try 'em.. i love clams..
Yeah theres no point being afraid of anything I would try "anything" once.. ive tried ostrich before and that was quite good and for some reason I tried pigeon lol It looked like crap kind of like mussles do but it tastes a lot nicer than I expected it sort of tasted like chicken a bit.
One of few things I would be wary about trying though is things like cows tongue or liver or frog legs :wtf:, apparently cows tongue is really nice but seeing all the taste buds and everything and the thought of it being a tongue really puts me off.
I live in South Florida so we get shellfish all year round. I love it all! For some great recipes check out the Food Network site or Cooks.com
i'll try frog legs if i get the chance... cow tounge is a hell no.. i just can't get my head around the idea of eating tounge...Quote:

Mussels are my favorite shellfish. Try making Paella Valenciana sometime- it's amazing!!!
I like oysters battered and raw and soft shell crab those are some good eattin. and every other fish too I even like long johns and captain dees I know their suck compared to real fish. But here we catch lots a bass, catfish, trout, crawdads we have snagging season here so fish frys are happin all the time. We dont have oysters or to many big fish in our waters but their good non the less. I do miss lobster and King Crab and all of that. Sushi here is of the hook thogh but expensive.
I'm jonesing for some abalone, and fresh dungeness crab. I gotta wait until I go on vacation to northern Cali in February. The imitation crab meat is ok for salads and stuff, and I don't have to buy it an airplane ticket. I could handle cioppino too..... Now... thats some really good eatin...with some sourdough french bread, and a nice bottle of wine.....yeah...thats the ticket
It sounds delicious too im actually going to try making this sometime in the next few weeks thanks stinky:)!Quote:
