it doesn't make any differance to me i'm totally mental anyway:woohoo::yippee::bigsmoke:
scientifically, there was only one test ever done that suggests pot does kill brain cells, but this test was done in mice that were INJECTED with almost pure thc nearly 6 times a day. This test was part of the "Reefer Madness" movement and was paid for by goverment.
Pot does not kill fry brain cells and even if it did I think there have been new studies that show that humans can make new brain cells so its all good.
dude,, i have been smokeing for 17 years, and i still outsmart genius motherfuckers,,, its all about your own intelligence... and your own confidence
Now, I've been smoking for awhile now, and if pot really did kill braincells, I'd be one STUPID ass motherfucker. But I'm not. Quite the contrary.
I have been smokin pot for 18 yrs and I function no problem ... :S5:
As a matter of fact I think I am smarter! :S2:
Blaze on :joint1::)
i also hear this shit all the time from people who are closed mind idiots who don't give a shit about anybody who doesint think the same way they do,
i actualy got into an arguement about this exact subject last night with this close minded bitch, i told her all the facts and how everyday you kill hunderates of thousands of brains just from everday life and that your brain generates more brain cells once old ones die, and she still said that weed kills like millions of brain cells and that if you smoke it eventualy you will be come brain dead, so i asked her to give me some proof to back up the bullshit she was saying and she said this "i dont have to prove you they tought me all about it in d.a.r.e and in school and they tell you about it on t.v" :wtf::eek::jawdropper::S4::rolleyes::rolleyes:, im never talking to another highschool kid again, o wait that would meen i would have to stop talking to almost everyone here :D
Here's what I say in response to being told it kills brain cells:
I tell them, well, it kills glioma cells, but glioma cells cause brain cancer so that's not really a bad thing. As for any other brain cell, the only study I've seen was the glioma one and that was on rats, so unless you can show me your proof I'm not interested.
<_< That last part generally ticks a few people off
Actually THC, cannabidiol, and most of the other cannabiniods in cannabis, if not all, are neuroprotective antioxidants. The National Institutes of Health states this in a 2007 research paper, as do various other research papers. Alcohol will kill brain cells, and cannabis can help to protect your brain cells from such damage. If anything in cannabis kills brain cells, it would be the carbon monoxide from burning it, but most people don't burn much, and cigarette smoking will of course produce much more carbon monoxide, as tobacco smokers need to smoke a lot more. Car engine exhaust is probably much more dangerous as well.

That's not true. Your brain keeps growing until late adolescence or early adulthood. One it reaches that point, brain cells quit reproducing. When they die, they're gone for good. They can form new neurological pathways, but not new cells. This is coming from my dad, an anatomy and physiology professor who literally wrote the book.Quote:

I do take the cannabis smokers' side on the issue. But I do also know from personal experience you can smoke yourself stupid. Smoke at least a quarter a day for a few months, and you will not be as smart as you were a few months ago. You may not notice dramatic IQ changes or anything, but you won't be as smart. Now I am an every day smoker and don't believe I'm getting any dumber by the day. I pace myself now and enjoy smoking just as much. But I believe smoking mass quantities every day for long periods of time will make you dumb. But if you like smoking that much and ain't got nothing better to do, f*#@ it, smoke.
the chemicals in marijuana attach to something in our brains called cannabinoid receptors, they do not attach to brain cells because there's places in our bodies for them to goQuote:

If marijuana killed a significant number of brain cells, doctors would not be prescribing it to their patients without mentioning it. Luckily, the medical community knows this myth is a bunch of horseshit.
Drug Policy Alliance: Myths and Facts About Marijuana
Quote:
Myth: Marijuana Kills Brain Cells. Used over time, marijuana permanently alters brain structure and function, causing memory loss, cognitive impairment, personality deterioration, and reduced productivity.
Fact: None of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term high-dose use. An early study reported brain damage in rhesus monkeys after six months exposure to high concentrations of marijuana smoke. In a recent, more carefully conducted study, researchers found no evidence of brain abnormality in monkeys that were forced to inhale the equivalent of four to five marijuana cigarettes every day for a year. The claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never been supported by any scientific study.
If your classmate brings this up again, mention the doctors. In several states and foreign countries, marijuana is legal for medical purposes, and nowhere do doctors warn their patients that they could lose brain function or become brain dead. Why? Because no responsible doctor would ever prescribe something that did that, and if they absolutely had to they would inform their patient about the risk. The overwhelming consensus among the medical community is that marijuana does not cause brain damage. School educators, police officers and government-sponsored TV ads do disagree, but they're not the experts on how chemicals react with the human body.Quote:

Key Marijuana Compound Beats Current Alzheimer's Drugs in Test-Tube Study

Oct. 6, 2006 -- THC, the key compound in marijuana, may also be the key to new drugs for Alzheimer's disease.
That's because the marijuana compound blocks the formation of brain-clogging Alzheimer's plaques better than current Alzheimer's drugs.
The finding -- in test-tube studies -- comes from the lab of Kim Janda, PhD, director of the Worm Institute of Research and Medicine at Scripps Research Institute.
"While we are certainly not advocating the use of illegal drugs, these findings offer convincing evidence that THC possesses remarkable inhibitory qualities, especially when compared to [Alzheimer's drugs] currently available to patients," Janda says in a news release.
This is my brain

twentE, i dont mean to question u or your dad or anything but i have been reading allot of research papers online about how brains actualy never stop reproducing, they just slow down once adulthood is reached i will see if i can find the site where i read those, i have allot to do today so i might not get around to it but if i have a lil spare time ill see if i can find um,
my thought on the whole brain cell frying is this, i am 23 i have been smoking the holy herb since i was 12 and i smoke quite allot, i continue to learn and i love to learn i am no dumb fuck who just smokes weed all day and has no ambition, i want to go to college to become an organic chemist if i ever have the money and a steady job, i read all the time and i like to read im definately not stupid i am actualy qite bright if i do say so myself (not when it comes to spelling but hey that what god made spellchecker for right :D)
all in all im smart and very ambitious and weed is a big part of my life and does not affect me in any negative way that i can think of,
peace out TjM
Actually this isn't entirely true. Scientists believe that there is one area in the brain that reproduces brain cells after the adolescent stage that you're talking about. I think it's the hippocampus but I'm not entirely sure. I know we discussed it in my AP psychology class though and read some article on it. But it's just this one area of the brain.Quote:

So, as I've learned, sticking a syringe full of heroin in my arm and pushing the plunger down always helps take away that feeling. Heroin is great! Thanks to pot's gateway aspect, I can now enjoy the pleasures of the strongest synthetic opiate!
If you looked at your braincells after a hit of Marihuana, you will notice that they actually get set on fire! And now you wonder why you get baked. Haha!
