Bubble Gum in cabinet. When to flower? Pics!

OK, I am posting pics here to show what I got going on.
I have 4 Bubble Gum (Serious) growing currently in a converted Phototron that has 5 CFLs hanging. They are vegging beautifully! Really, really compact with small nodes. My question is, when SHOULD I start to flower -I have a cabinet with 1 sq. ft. of space and a 70w HPS light where I can SCROG.
Also, do the preflowers on these inidcate whether it is male or female or is it still too hard to tell. The seedlings were started on July 8th, 4 weeks ago.
One of the BG's is being trained (LST), one is being just fimmed (Fuck, I Missed!) and one is having nothing done to it. The last one is a retard that got dropped on its head several times, and it remains to be seen if it will even survive.
Any and all comments and observations welcome. This is my first grow and I just threw out my 2 biggest plants which were bagseed hermies that I grew cause I wanted to get at least some experience before I went to the BGs.

I really would appreciate some help from someone. I desperately want to smoke this bubble gum but don't want to be too hasty.

1. When should I start flowering?
2. If you get a close up on the first pic (tall plant), can you tell if those preflowers are of a boy or girl?

OK, PLEEEEEEASE! Someone with some experience SCROGGING in a small cabinet, please give me some advice!
I want to know when to go to flower and I want to know if I can tell from the pre-flowers if it is a girl or boy, because I need to replant soon I think.

They are not old enough to flower, they are only a month old from being sprouted? or did I read that wrong? sorry little stoned. But anyways I would wait for alternating nodes(sexually mature) before I put them into flower because force flowering could cause them to turn hermi.

I am no expert grower thou.

Alternating nodes is a good sign to look for then? When I see that, it means that it is sexually mature?

Make sure you are not mistaking preflowers for stipules, I think thatâ??s there name. Female flowers will have pistils coming out of a calyx. When I looked at your photos I did not see any preflowers visible, but yet that could be me just being blind. Some strains donâ??t go alternating nodes, and I am not familiar with the growth pattern of bubble gum so this could be a possibility. Someone with way more experience should chime in sometime to help. I would personally veg for longer to get more growth to it. Some more branches. And possible bud sites.

I may indeed be making a mistake. Could you please look at the last of the 5 photos above (the tallest of the plants). If you zoom in, you will see what I am referring to.

I circled in read what I think you are mistaking for preflowers, if so these grow at every node and are actually not preflowers. Just give it some time it is still pretty young maybe another 2 to 3 weeks to show sex but maybe sooner or longer.

Yeah, those are the suckers that I thought were preflowers! What are they anyway?

By the way, does sex show itself even BEFORE you go to 12/12?

I can't really see but at those circled nodes you should see spurs and secondary growth.
They CAN show preflowers before 12/12 but not all strains do this, and even the ones that do will want 18/6.

Spurs? What are those? It's definitely not secondary growth, so I guess it is the spurs then.
If you have been following, can you comment on how long I should keep vegging for these Bubble Gums? Should I go to 18/6 soon?

They are far enough along that now your concern is space limitations. Say your plant is a foot high. And you only have 3 feet of space to work with. Then you would flower now. Or you would train more.
If you have just topped, wait 3 weeks, then flower. Wait 2-3 weeks from any point you pinch or top the plant before flowering.
When you go to 12/12, just go directly, without any intermediate steps.

I've been growing BG outdoors for 5-6 years now. Check out my last winter's indoor grow here.

Eight weeks of veg, more or less depending on conditions and space. Eight to ten weeks to finish budding. I love bubblegum and so do most around here. I'll definetly grow one or two next crop.

OK, Stinky, I got the picture. I will turn them onto 12/12 in a couple of days after first transplanting them into a larger container. I have a 4 gallon square bucket that is the largest thing I can fit in my 15"x15" cab. Should I stick all 3 plants in there, wait for sex info and then go from there? Or should I do 2 and keep one as a slower growing mother?

That's one way to do it, if you have 2 grow areas so that you can keep a female alive at all times. Otherwise, you have to either grow from seed, or find another local grower who can house a clone mother for you. I know people who do that. Heck, I've got a strain backup agreement wiht a few of my grow buddies. It works out okay!
I would not really want to put multiple plants in one bucket. If one shows male, it's hard to get him out without damaging the roots of the others.
I have always sexed first and transplanted as soon as they show female. As the BOG says, "why waste work on a male?" lol.
If that big bucket is all that will fit, then after tehy show sex would be the time to stuff them in there. Angle the main stems away form one another to make trining easier if you have to do that.

Current situation is that I have
A: 1 Bubble Gum in a 70W HPS cabinet
B: 2 Bubble Gums in a Phototron Shell packed 6 with CFLs.
All were grown from Seed (Serious)
This is my first grow since failing with 2 hermies from bagseed.

They are on Day 13 and Day 10 of flowering, respectively.
The HPS has been LSTed fairly well and SCROGGED.
1 Phototron lady was FIMMED and 1 was untouched. The FIMMED one was recently bent over cause it was gettting too big! This stretch thing is new to me!

Fuck! I found out that #2, the tall, Fimmed beauty in the phototron, was a boy!

I think I got him early, but... does anyone know? It was 10 days into flowering and I just saw the 3 club look on a couple of the budding sites and they were quite small, no pre-seeds anywhere to be seen... Anyone know if I am cool?

So I am down to 1 under HPS and 1 under CFL. This will be good to see how it goes. I know the HPS is a girl, but I still have crossed fingers about the 1 remaining in the phototron chamber (she was so near to that B, B, Boy!) :(

i would change to a 400watt hps and you can flower them now if you want to thats one of the things about indoor growing you control everything evan when they flower so its up to you ive seen people flower at 4 inches and there plants get about 1 1/2 eet tall with just a main cola a flower tower lol

Cab was made for that 70W light and I got it from him.

A 400 would be too big for it and I want to see how this works out. He also has a 100 W HPS in a larger cab... will try that next.
Well, maybe I will try a 250 in my closet instead next... a 400 still scares me a bit. So big...

Hay. I've been using the same type of setup. I have a Phototron 6 which has 6 - 55 watt cfls and I drop in another bulb that came with the system durring veg. I've gone through 3 cycles and have finally (barely) got it right. My first and second tries I let them get WAY TOO BIG before going to 12/12 and they both yielded zero usable anything. By "WAY TOO BIG" I mean 1 foot tall. This last time I only went 3 weeks, yes only 3 weeks before going 12/12 and they still needed to be bent...alot of bending, but the buds are looking good. I've got pictures in my profile images. I'm going with a Lowryder cross next which I'm thinking will be perfect for the Phototron. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hey Steelwool! Nice to hear from you! Those plants that you said went 3 weeks, did you mean cloned or from seed?
How did you find the CFLs working for flowering? I find them great for vegging so far only and have not tried for flowering.

Hay. That was three weeks from seed, they were literally on only their 2nd or third set of leaves. I'm just about to harvest the one female (out of 4) and I would say the buds are a little light but not too bad, looking at over an OZ. . I'm actually pleasantly surprized. I am excited to try these Lowryder seeds I got from "Rino Seeds". I'm trying the Lowryder X Soma NYC. I have heard some good things about them in terms of performance under CFLs. The main problem besides height in the Phototron that I'm having is that any pert of the plant that comes into contact with the lights browns and shrivels, it doesn't burn but comes pretty close so even with bending and topping there is a serious limit to what you can expect from a regular indoor strain. We'll see how the Lowryder does.:jointsmile:

Currently, in my phototron, I have 2 Hindu Kush clones that are growing like crazy. I switched them 2 12/12 about 4 days ago and threw a little square of chicken wire on top of them to keep them low. I will take it off when the time comes, I guess. Maybe we should just cut the tops of the phototrons off so we can fully raise our lights up?
Anyway, my Bubble Gum in the 70 HPS cab is doing well. I can't wait to harvest. Maybe 1 week to go I guess. Meanwhile I have been "nibbling" on it like a motherfucker. Yumm. Even better when it is cured properly. I think I will get maybe one half oz. off it?
Anyway, the Hindu Kush is also a very nice low plant BTW. Keep me informed about your Lowryder. OK?

I've thought about taking the top off my phototron but the containment factor is why I got it in the first place. I'll let you know about the Lowryder in a few weeks. Good luck!

I've got some Hindu Kush in the Phototron that has lots of bud sites but, as reported, CFLs are great for vegging I think, but really don't get much in the way of light penetration.

They are nice because of the ease of purchase and flexible -a good way to learn how to grow in retrospect, but I'm gonna definintely go to a bigger HPS soon. I have a nice large cabinet about 6 feet high and 2 feet wide, 2 feet deep. It's a big outdoor aluminum tool shed of some kind. I think I will put a 250 HPS in there. Anyway, I have about 3-4 weeks left to go on the Kush I guess. Meanwhile I have Bubblegum grow number 2 in the 70W hps minicab. This time I have 2 plants, so will have more buds I guess, I got about 1/2 oz I think with the 1 plant on my first grow and I gotta say it was delicious. I smoked the fuck out of it! Like a kid in a candy store!

I haven't started the lowryders yet. I'm going to be gone for a couple of weeks next month which won't work for just budding plant. I went 12/12 on a 400W HPS set up I got in a 8x4x3 foot closet with some shit called Dutch Nebula a couple of weeks ago and I got to say it blows the CFLs away. I just finished cureing what I got from my White Widdow in the Phototron and it's well over an oz. but the buds are not very compact. Still and oz. is an oz. and it is the cripto. If you got the room I would veg in the phototron and bud with the HPS. Cycle that through and you'll have mass killer buds all the time.
