New Guy With a Question...

OK so i hope this is the right thread to post this particular question. I have friends that have moved in with people that don't smoke and am about to move in with someone that i know isn't 420 friendly... How would you feel if you lived with someone that didn't share the same mindset that you do with buddah? Cause trying to hang out with friends and not having a place to "Chillax" afterward is starting to get annoying. The reason this is a relationship question is that if i try to smoke in the house or the person smells the buddah it will hurt the friendship i have with the guy. Plus I have had enough of the secret smoking routine, it sucks.

pass to him next time, let him see what its like to fly high

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it belongs in the lounge but I guess it would pass for here. Why don't you just find a room mate that's 420 friendly?

Cause it is a college roommate... So i tried to form the questions as smoker friendly as possible. But the kid doesn't even drink.

I wouldn't care if he is gay of straight, as long as he smoked, and didn't hit on me...

Well, even when I didn't smoke I didn't care when people would do it around me, I just saw it as their life and they live with whatever comes with it. But if he's real straight edge then who knows? Who don't you ask him and see what he says.

I kinda hinted of it to him in a question on what he expected from the college party life... but he was adamant on the fact he will be studying for hours on end, and nothing else. I am still hopeful that the inner rasta in him will push him to ask one day. But that is a load of wishful thinking on my part.

Some people don't pick that king of stuff up until college. But for the sake of the situation let's just assume he never will. You could just do it at parties or something. If he's too straight edge he might report you so I wouldn't go around doing it if he doesn't want it. What about if you just come back to your dorm high? Will he be pissed?

I think that he would look down on it. Plus i can't hide being high whatsoever. What would you do in this situation? I have had to hide it for a couple years, and never got caught, so i guess i can hide it more (but i don't want to). But anyone have any ideas to get this guy to smoke?

and dude you can't expect someone to just wana smoke cuz you love it..... if he don't like it and refuses it, leave it at that... personally outta respect i'd keep it outta his face.. i mean, you ain't gotta go outta your way to hide it or anything... but outta respect don't like light up in his face/prescense or whatever...

especially cuz yal are sharing a room... you both have to respect each other far more then if you were just friends... neither of you should be subjected to stuff you have a firm stance against... both should be respectful over the other's strong disbeleifs... but that's just my opinion.

Sorry i kind of phrased that wrong. If he doesn't want to smoke then i am fine with that. I just need help with talking to the guy to get him to not worry if i toke up in the room at all. He is a nice guy, i just want to be able to smoke indoors while he is gone . I just fear that he will notice the smell(even if i vaporise it smells like a pine forest and bud.). And it would make things a lot more complicated.

oh... well in that case tell him to lighten up... about all i can offer lol...

if it's not in his face i don't see why it's any of his buisness.... i'm sure he stroke his pecker while you're not in the room....

you know about 90% of household dust is comprised solely of dead skin?

if you look in sunlight in a dusty room... you'll see crap loads of dust..

not only is it a reason to be more careful about who you invite in your home, also a very good reason to be 'clean' lol...

yeah but what you don't know don't hurt you....

there's also fecal matter floating in the air.. (kind of a given since the entire body sheds skin, and no matter how hard you wipe or with what it won't all go away 100%)

mythbusters proved this one lol.... even a toothbrush kept in another room came up with traces of fecal matter on it...

i keep mine in a case btw.. dunno bout yal, but i'd rather minimize the ammounts of pecker flakes and fecal matter on my toothbrush..

Why not be honest with him and just work out some agreement. I mean you should both respect each other equally so if he's going to be studying a lot and wants the room quiet and distraction free all the time, then thats selfish. On the same line, if you want to smoke daily and openly in your room which will get all up in his face, that's selfish of you too.

So why not respect each other and be honest. Work out a compromise. Try to smoke when he's not there (try to learn his schedule somewhat, so you know you shouldn't have to worry about him coming in and having the room all smokey and shit). And on the same lines, he should try to study a good amount at the library (your college should have one, and even if by some weird freak reason they don't, there should be somewhere quiet on campus where he can go). He should try to get his studying done the same way, learn your schedule and know what windows of time he can be left undisturbed.

Learn to compromise, you'll both be much happier and keep your friendship and respect for each other.

And TRUST ME, if you're not smoking, the smell of mj smoke DOES piss you off (cig smoke too, btw). I think if you can smoke in your room when he's not around and properly air it out so it doesn't smell at all (and try not to smoke in your room a lot, because when you're a smoker you don't notice the subtle smell, but a little can linger and be much more noticeable to a non-smoker), then you should be fine. If you can, smoke elsewhere most of the time. You should respect the time he likes to get work done, so if you know he likes to do it, say, right after class, plan not to smoke then. He should also spend some time out of the room. If you lock yourself in and complain about shit all the time, you're hogging the room which is meant to be shared.
