changed nutes today and now wilting???help?

ok if u look there, it will tell u what kindda nutes im using.the only thing i changed was adding the koolbloom, bud blood, and bigbud. ok i switched to 12/12 last nite, so this morning i changed nutes in 2 of my set ups 6 plants each, the one with the biggest plants 2ft tall i added a lil more nutes than the other bin, and the ppm on both were around 580ppm b4. then i changed nutes and in one the ppm went up to 1050, and the smaller plants the ppm is now 850, now the one that has 1050 after 5 mins all wilted, at the tips about 2 inches down and layed over a lil. the one that the ppm is at 850 stayed fine so after i saw them wilt, i added plain water to lower the ppm to 800 so was that extra 200ppm to much to fast???

p.s. oh i forgot to add, that i added ph down to as the ph after nute change was 6.5. so i add sum ph down, and after i let it mix in it went to 3.0 so after they started wilting i checked to find that the ph was that low, as well so thats when i added water to bring up the ph, and dilute the nutes down to 800.i know that ph can mess up stuff i.e nute lock and such but could it happen that fast????

pH of 3.0 ? What are you using to check pH with ? Thats like sitting your plants in vinegar. Also, I do not add nutes when I switch to 12/12. I flush for 3 or so days, then I use R.O. water with Cal Mag and Superthrive for about 4 days, then I start with my bloom nutes at about 60%. Work up from there in 10% increments until I notice problem, then I know what they like.

Keep good notes for this strain/strains, next grow you wont have to guess shit. You'll know exactly what they want, and when they want it if you have taken clones from these plants.

I am not saying my method is the best, its just what works for me and I get excellent results.

And yes, if in fact your pH was 3.0, that would cause a problem, quickly. Do you have calibration solution for your pH tester ? If so, check to make sure your meter is correct.

yea i have a tri meter from nutradip and it works great i think what happened was the ph was to high and i put way to much ph down in it ..so u say b4 u go to 12/12 u use just plain water ph'd?? and then u add the bloom bud boost??do u still use ur m,g,b,cycle mixed in there too?? so should i drain all my nutes out and start over??

Yes, I'd drain everything and go with straight pH'd water for a few days. As I said in previous post d00d, you had yer plants sittin in vinegar.

I use the latewood 3 part recipe for the most part. Its a sticky here, and you can check it out if ya want. I dont use anything else except ST and Cal Mag, and Flora Kleen to flush with.

And Roger on the plain pH'd water with just Superthrive and Cal Mag for about a week under the 12/12 light schedule prior to switching to bloom recipe.

Ya need to let them plants get their legs back under 'em. That pH being 3.0 was like someone smashing you in the forhead with a baseball bat, seriously. I'd keep a real close eye on the pH as well. Maybe check every 2 hours or so until it levels back out and your plants get their breath back.

i will drain and do what u said,i have noticed they have perked up a lil bit but the ends are still wilted a lil and sum of the leafs got sum spots on them i did'nt know it would effect them that quick though man and they were doin so good i hope they bounce back i'll get sum pics on here tonite

Never had plants in water with a pH of 3.0 before. So, I do not have a clue how long it would take to mess 'em up in water like that. I am going to guess it would not take long.

Anyways, I'd do straight pH'd water for a few until they get back to normal. Thats not going to hurt them.

Remember, that plant is alive same as we are, so to speak. It has defense mechanisms to protect it same as we have an immune system. Therefore, when conditions become something they are unable to tolerate they shut themselves down to try and survive.

So what if you add a week to the grow? You made the boo-boo, not your plants. So, you gotta deal with it. Next time you'll know not to do what ya did this time. This hobby is all about learning anyways.

Hydro is not real forgiving, at least in my opinion. Thats why you keep excellent notes and you learn to dial it in on the fly with as little stress to your plants as possible. We are not mother nature, but inside we need to be as close to her as possible.

lol 10-4, and yes everything u said i know it's just one of those things. well what happened was every other time i changed nutes, i would have to put about 20ml of phdown per 20gal res to bring down to 5.5 ph. well this time i just added 5 gals to top off the res, and went ahead and put the 20ml of phdown as if i was doin a whole nute change. i know, i fucked up, but i did'nt think they would up take that quick. like i said i caught it in about 5 mins, cause i was adding the nutes 1 at a time. and i checked the ph and it went up to 6.9, and thats what it does when i change out the nutes from b4.

but now i know i should have did alil at a time as i was only adding 5gals. and i don't think i waited long enough for the nutes to dilute into the res, and i went ahead and added the down. but now i know not to do that again, i just hope they come back. i just checked and all looks well, but i noticed 3 fan leafs are still wilted and has spots now, but the rest seems fine im just wondering why only the 3 fan leafs and no others???

If my plants sat in PH 3 for 10 minutes I wouldnt be suprised if they didn't make it. Not only is that real bad, but fluctuations by themselves are bad. Get it to 5.5 or so (debatable) and keep it there. Always.

And holy crap, that sure seems like a lot of ingredients. People can easily get by with 2 nutes: Veg and Bloom. When I first went to hydro that's what I used, and in my humble opinion I achieved some amazing results. I know adding some others can help (and I do add some), but they are not nearly as important as getting the basics right first. Basics such as PH.

Enough of the lecture, this happend too me as well. Like the above suggestions suggest, I immediatly rinsed thouroghly with PH adjusted water, and let them sit in it a couple days, then swithced to 1/8th strength nutes and worked my way up. Everything has a chance of being OK if you do the same.

Hope that helps a little. Everyone remember: Dirt-6.8, Hydro-5.5, at least that's whats seemed to work the best for me.

Almost forgot: PH creeps up through time, enough to worry about it and to check it regularly.

yea my res is 20 gals and after the first ph adjustments it stays there for atleast 2 weeks i still keep a close eye on it though i noticed that the plant i have in the 5 gal buckets seems to do what ur saying i have to keep a closer eye on those.

and i noticed the wilt about 5 mins after i ph downed them but they seem to be doin alot better now i cliped the 3 fan leafs that got spots on them and wilted now there perking back up so i'll see tomarrow but i did change out the nutes with the ph'd water.


and as far as all the nutes i have i found a link to nute recipes and i picked the one from advanced nutes as thats what i had and the carbo load and f1 and silca i just added just incase i need them but i do like an 1/8th of those not full or half dose but i have noticed that i had'nt changed out my nuts in 3 weeks and they were still going strong so i don't know why people say to change every 2weeks as mine were still going good and still holding ph and ppm as stable as when i started so who knows

well they bounced back strong and are doing great again here's a ? the white hairs that the fems have are they always white?? can they just be green??
