Plant Problems For First Time Grower
Can anyone help me diagnose my plant problems? One of my plants has some yellow spots on its lower leaves. I transplanted the seedlings about one month ago using Miracle-Gro Moisture Control soil. The plants have been under 24x7 light since seedlings. I have only used Miracle Gro's All Purpose Plant (24-8-16) Food once about 3 weeks ago. I would gladly appreciate any replies. Thanks my fellow growers.
I have:
2-plants
1-Fluoro light fixture
2-45watt cool white bulbs
24x7 lighting

Could we get a shot of the underside of a damaged area?
I'm thinking either a soil pH problem, or mites.

This is the only pic I could get of the underside. Thanks.

Check the pH- MG soils can bottom a little sometimes. Don't think that's your problem- seems very localized.
Tough to see, but there seem to be dark specks on the underside of the leaf, suggesting a pest problem- my first guess would be mites. Have a look at the underside of an affected leaf w/ a scope- you're looking for bugs, little pearl-looking things which are eggs, or feces

I didn't see any critters trying to take over my plant. There are 2 leaves on one set, and 3 leaves on another (all lower leaves) that have the same yellow spot. Could this still be mg deficiency? Thanks again.

You know my plants had some little spots like that and it was white flys.

I know I'm a rookie when it comes to growing, however, I strongly believe that there are no bugs or insects trying to take over my plant. If this happens to be a mg, or any other nutrient deficiency problem, what could I do to determine this?

Well you could add some mg and see if it helps or hurts. I think it's bugs. They're not on your plants 24 hours a day....especially white flies which come and go. You say you are seeing one thing but the symptoms are showing another. You have to go by what "the evidence" is as they say in the forensics world.....just because you personally haven't seen bugs doesn't mean they aren't there.
Here's a guide so you can look through different symptoms and perhaps it will help you decide.

The fact that the damage is SO localized makes me say bugs, not deficiency. It's not a damage pattern I'm familiar with- whiteflies are certainly a possibility! A yellow sticky trap will give you an answer in just a few hours.

A sticky trap.....DAMN she's good.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your help. I'll take your advice by putting up a sticky trap, then I'll try some mg if I find that critters are not the problem. I'll get back to you with the results. Thanks again.

It sort of looks like mite damage, but it's very localized. Spider mites can be hard to see. If it continues, and none of the above advice helps, try hosing the leaves off, top and bottom. That can get rid of most of your mites. If it doesn't get worse, I really don't see a problem.

After you kick around here for a while, you will find that Mg deficiency is like, the default deficiency that people will say when they don't know what they are looking at but know it isn't N... lol
Rhizome was referring to MG as in Miracle Gro, which isn't a great soil. The MG organic is ...okay... but the regular sucks boo-tay.
