I understand what psteve is saying. This emotion is typical among dead-heads particularly in August.( jerry died in aug., last shows were in aug., summer tours, etc.) Unfortunatley I got on the train late compared 2 others,(I was 16 & saw the last show, I lived nearby). Im assuming you had the luxury of seeing the Dead (with Jerry) a lot more than others. And for that fact alone, your more fortunate than someone like me (since I've seen GD with jerry only once). I had to do the whole phish thing for like 8 years.(poor me-j.k.) At least we have the old tapes
Who?
jerry!
TRUE STORY- both my electriciy bill & phone bill are sent to my address in the name of August West. Funny how he's always late on the bill payments (he spends alot of time drinking around the San Fran bay area). Hell of a guy though!!
Ghosty, Definitely check out the Grateful Dead. They are the most amazing band ever.
If you've never listened to them, start out with some studio CDs like
-Terrapin Station
-American Beauty
-Shakedown Street
The best Dead however is on live CDs
Check out:
-Europe 72
-Without a Net
-Live at the fillmore April 71
-Closing on Winterland
You won't regret it.
I miss Jerry also guys, check out my sig.
Yea, I used to collect shows.

Not an updated list, but gives you an idea of what I was after. I haven't had time for years though because of school.
Yea, I was really a huuuuuge Deadhead back then. I collected shows only in 10th grade. I didn't get into Phish really until my senior year. I wish I would have gotten some DMB also, but I was really only focused on the dead back then.
Yea, I agree that DMB is extremely overrated NOW. However, they didn't use to be. Also in my mind any band that freely allows the distribution of their concerts is not very overrated and we're lucky to have bands like that these days.
My first Dead show was July 25th 1974. I stopped countung after 75 shows. I know I've seen well over 100.Quote:

I ran down to the levy but the devil caught me there, took my 20 dollar bill and it vanished in the air.
Got two reasons why i cry away each lonely night
The firsts ones' name's sweet Anne Marie and she's my hearts delight
The seconds one is prison babe, the sherrifs on my trail
And if he catches up with me i'll spend my life in jail
Just might get some sleep to niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ght.
