Is Now The time To Change Nutirents?
Hi,
My two plants just started showing their preflowers. Should I continue feeding them the nutrients high in nitrogen a little longer or should I switch to the flowering ones? I have been feeding them Foxfarm's Grow Big for two months. I also have Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom.

A pro could tell you better,
but I'd wait until 2 weeks prior to harvest to cut them off. I think its to force the plant to use the shit stored in the cloraphyll??? Anyone?...lill help here?

i would start decreseaing your veg ferts while adding a little flower ferts to each nutrient feeding. then start upping your flower ferts. :twocents:

personally i've always switched to my bloom ferts after signs of preflowering...i usually wait til i see the first male and begin bloom ferts...always had great success with Miracle Grows Bloom Booster 15-30-15 once every one to two weeks depending upon the strain

yup, if you're seeing pre-flowers, switch to your Tiger Bloom now (from now on, your nitrogen levels should be low, as nitrogen stalls flowering) ... you can also add a tablespoon of blackstrap (unsulphured) molasses every few waterings, it serves as a 'carb loader' to the plant :smokin:

Hrmm I have the same Question as the OP.
I have plants that are in a Pre Flower stage right now that are not showing signs of the start of Flower.
Ive been feeding them a high Nitrogen Diet still because I have not seen them start the all over full flower.
But "the image reaper" says that Nitrogen stalls Full Flower ?
I think of the plant still being in a Vegetative state right now in Pre Flower. Am I wrong in thinking that ?
I still see new growth shoots coming off the plant daily. They are about 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Stalks are nice and big and strong so they can eat alot.
My plan was to wait until I saw hairs on the tops of branches before switching to high Phosphorus food.

it will make it an easier transition for the plant to bring in flower ferts after you have switched your light cycle? your plants need certain horomones to flower and the flower ferts help produce those horomes............how many days have you been in 12/12.

Well it gets light at about 7 or 8 and gets dark around 9. And its getting Shorter each day. So iam at about 13 to 14 hours of light still.
And it has been a full moon lol

would just continue feeding you higher nitrogen fertilizer till you plant shows signs of starting to flower and then switch, its probably going to be very soon.
have never really seen nitrogen levels so high that it would stall flowering and suspect most fertilizers would not slow flowering at all, but the biggest reason to cut back on nitrogen would be so you dont affect the taste of the buds but you should have plenty of time to reduce the nitrogen levels once the plant shows signs of flowering by switching fertilizers to one with very little nitrogen and possible just use nothing but water the last couple of weeks.

I've seen N stunt flowering INDOORS but outdoors I am not certain.
Where I'm at at the 45th parallel, the outdoor people are definitely switching into finish mode, killing males and hitting their plants with bloom ferts.
The countdown to harvest is on; we just had the 2nd full moon before the harvest moon... time to switch. 8 weeks to go, woot!

My outdoor clones are already starting to show buds... It seems early, they have already stretched and everything... They look like they are about 2-3 weeks into it...

the moon this last week was beautifull wasnt it? if you have fed another dose of veg ferts it shouldnt hurt any thing but if you havnt than it is gettin really close to the time when you should start your flowering ferts. normally mid august here, i think a little earlier this year. yes the 8week countdown is on.

I started them on Big Bloom/Tiger Bloom for the next few weeks. Once they start budding, I plan on switching to AN's Big Bud for the remainder.

I fed mine some fish fertilizer cause it was all I had on hand. After the feeding, the already flowering Early Misty flowers got much bigger. There was one I wasn't sure and after the fish feeding, it clearly showed its female flowers. I also discovered another female immediately following the fish. It definately did not stall flowering in my garden, but then again, fish overall is probably not that strong in Nitrogen.

Fish is quite high in nitrogen... And it will not always stall a flowering plant but it will encourage the plant to make more leaves and less flowers... Which means more trimming and less buds. Try to get some high in p and k and something with very low or no nitrogen.

Have you found your early misty to be very tall? Mine is very tall and allready has popcorn buds. You got any pics?

Check out the link below to my current grow. I also have a pic of Misty flowering in there.
They are growing taller than I expected but much shorter than my White Widows. I've had to top my others but not Misty.
I used fish emulsion fertilizer which is 5-1-1. I didn't want to use the bone meal I have cause I didn't want to risk attracting animals. Instead of going out and getting some flowering nutes, I mulched them from my compost pile today. We are supposed to get alot of rain.
