I've read, i think it was in red eye express that the first Skunk strains where bred in between 1979 and 1982, apparently no ones sure if it was in the US or Holland, but some people doubt this - not smokers mid you. When was the first time you smoked Skunk? for me it was 1994, but i'm sure there are a lot earlier accounts....any knowledge anyone?

2006. (I'm only 19, lol) I wasn't that impressed by skunk, although 4 weeks later i got some haze....which impresssed fairly well!
I don't think I've ever smoked a variety of the Skunk strain but if we're talking about the name Skunk to describe very good bud I first bought "skunk" like 4 years ago. Shortly after I started smokin I got literally smacked by my dealer (very very good friend) when I showed him some schwagg I bought from this guy that was ripping me off hard. Note that I was just getting started with this whole smoking thing. He finally showed me what good weed actually looks like lol.
I've had super skunk last year, and this winter I had the fortune to buy Rene, which is the strongest smelling weed I've ever smelled, but in a good rotting fruit way. You have no idea. You would grind some up, and you'd open your grinder and literally the whole room would smell. It must have had some strong terpenes.

You have no idea how bad I want a clone of Rene, as it's clone only. But, Highend is Rene crossed with Blueberry I believe. I thought about getting it, for the Rene factor, but I'm hesitant to grow anything with Blueberry in it, as I've heard it's hard to grow, doesn't like that much nutrients (I don't want to accidentally give them too much and kill them), and has abnormal leaf growth. To me, that's undesirable. I'm hoping they make a Rene IBL as they did with Sour Diesel. After I grow out Lowryder, Master Low, and Powerstout, I'm going to try to find a strain, probably some sort of Afghani with a very skunky smell, as I enjoy that smell, and odor control isn't really a problem, since my room smells like MJ as it is, lol.Quote:

umm probably 2002, it was the first shit i ever bought split between 4 of us. Then we made a bong out of a plastic bottle and went to the field and proceeded to smoke. I was high as fuck and my mate was visually tripping, he said he saw a severed hand which turned out to be a branch and when we went to buy munch at the supermarket he said he saw my head just expanding to fill all of his view.
surely there must be some older guys who smoked the skunk (by which i mean a Sativa/Indica cross, be it Red Beard, Orange Bud, you know the old ones) I remember my mates older brother smoking it in 1991, anyone earlier than this, I'm looking for some 1980's dates. Or any knowledge on when it was first bred.

I first somked it 1995 on the Mississippi in Maastricht while in the Army.. which eventually led to my BCD..But it was worth it!
Skunk #1 was created in the USA by Sam the Skunkman in the 70's.
2006 ,we got a very hearty, musky skunk bag for £20 it was 2.8g and stunk like skunk and I will never forget that smoke it made so thick and skunky the smell stayed for ages...
The term Skunk was first heard of when Sam the Skunk man (one of the founders of Sacred Seeds) first bought these genetics from the States.
This was late seventies.
Eddie, former owner of the Flying Dutchmen, subsequently worked on these genetics to produce what we all know as Skunk in the very early eighties.
