THQ ordered to remove Chris Benoit from Smackdown vs. Raw 2008
-- The latest WWE video game was almost complete when it was ordered to extract Chris Benoit from it. There were a lot of problems in this because they can't just so easily delete him from the game, especially considering that game so far in the process. Nonetheless, the feeling was that it would be a p.r. disaster if they released the game with Benoit as one of the star characters. The video game's team pretty much had no choice but to remove Benoit from the game.

Hopefully they leave his signature moves in the game so we can at least create CAWs of him. It's awful what the guy did the last days of his life but it doesn't change his influence in wrestling over 20 years of career. I don't think it's right to completely act like he doesn't exist and the media has already made WWE so paranoid they blur out his name and image....

Funny how slaughtering a bunch of innocent people has those kind of consequences.

I just don't understand the logic behind this.
I mean seriously if the last minutes, days of someones life they have a mental breakdown, go crazy and do bad things that suddenly everything the rest of their life that they accomplished..all the good they did should be forgotten or nulled?
As far as I'm concerned, the crazy psycho that murdered the Benoit family is not the same man mentally that we wrestling fans knew and admired. A Benoit without a mental breakdown most likely would have never commited such horrid acts. None of us were there that weekend, none of us knows exactly what happened. Therefore instead of erasing Benoit from history we should remember him for the good things he did.

Atually....if that is what had happened I would be more sympathetic. The fact is the man took drugs, cheated at his work and did all sorts of other thing morally shitty......killing his family was the last. It's like saying Charlie Manson is a great guy.....sometimes. It just doesn't cut it imo..... a littbit of good does not cancel out that kind of bad.

The majority of wrestlers do some amount of steroids, Benoit had only a medicinal amount of testosterone in his system along with some pain killers. Pain killers are also highly common among Pro Wrestlers as well due to having to work while injured a lot.
Cheated at work? Never heard anything in that regard, the man prided himself in his work with wrestling it was his life. I've only heard on how hard he worked all the time throughout his career to be one of the best. The only bad thing I heard of him doing was reports of him and his wife having marriage trouble/getting into fights over the years.

i used to be a benoit fan and im gonna have to agree with weedhound on this all the respect i ever had for benoit is completely gone. from what ive read benoit has been a lil off in the head for quite some time hes been abusing these performance enhancing drugs for a long time and other drugs like xanax and hyrdocodone his wife tried to divorce him in 2002 for abusive treatment but for some reason she dropped the case? sounds kinda like she was scared for her life then 2. benoit was a great wrestler but thats just his in the ring persona because all this time he really was a bad guy.

Taking STEROIDS forbidden in his sport (or any sport) makes him a cheater. Period. I would imagine at some point someone asked him if he took steroids and I'm guessing he said no.....wow.....that would make him a liar. His wife (and apparently the children as well) had xanax found in their systems at autopsy.....the theory is that he drugged them before he killed them. Sorry but that doesn't sound like a spur of the moment thing to me. And now you're mentioning domestic violence which I didn't even know about.
Everyone remembers what they want about people. In my view "because everyone else does it" is one of the poorest excuses ever. I'm sure that you and I both will remember him in our own way and the entire thing is extremely tragic. I think if he had avoided the steroids alot of his problems would not have occurred. Therefore....in my view.....he chose his own path and hurt many innocent people along the way. His family aside.....how many honest wrestlers did he fight and win against while on steroids? Why should they lose to someone who cheats?
I'm sorry....but I just don't see it the same way as you.

it was bound to happen. imo WWE is just a place for all rednecks to enjoy some bullshit then go home and kill their families.
no offense to anyone.
i fucking hate wwe.
EDIT: I dont see how taking steroids gives anyone in wwe an advantage...i mean....all the fights are pre determined and planned out. They're pretty much actors. emirite?

thats gotta be the worse stereotype for a wrestling fan ive ever seen infact most fans of pro wrestling probably wouldnt be what you consider redneck. wrestling fans come from everywhere they are diverse and they arent all a bunch of idiots who think its real most of them know its all just for entertainment but thats the fun in it you know its all just a show but you still go cause its fun and a good time.

1. You do realize Pro-Wrestling is Sports Entertainment. There is no real matches in Pro Wrestling. All the outcomes are pre-determine there is no real competition there. The storyline writers write out how conflicts go and how matches and special happenings occur. The wrestlers then put on a a very athletic performance in the ring, depending on the wrestlers it's either done spontaneously to match crowd response (best way) or as many newer guys like its coreographed and practiced beforehand. It's like watching any other fictional TV show except the cast is also highly trained, highly athletic stunt men.
2. Small therapeutic amounts of steroids have always been allowed. Vince McMahon has a thing for big wrestlers and many wrestlers didn't reach main event status untill they got highly built. WWE doesn't support the use of other drugs have fired and suspended many people for it (RVD and Sabu got caught by the police with marijuana right when RVD won the WWE title. As punishment Vince stripped him of the title and suspended him. and they are forced to have policy against steroids, even though you can look at Vince McMahon himself and see that even Vince juices...
1&2 Combined: There was no cheating or lying at work with Benoit. He did just as many many wrestlers have done before. And again all they found in his system was extra testosterone which is technically grouped together with steroids but is not really a steroid and there was only small amounts of in his system. The media likes to twist things around and they love to sensationalize things.

I'm afraid you are trying to change the rules around.
1. Against the rules. Check
2. Used performance enhancing drugs.... check
3. Any performance done by him with drugs that are illegal make him a cheater. That's all. Out in life....those are the real rules no matter what kind of spin you try to put on it. He paid the price. So did a bunch of people who didn't deserve it. .....check
And that's aside from this thought.....DId he hit his wife? Was he another oj? I don't know....but I could certainly believe it after the rest of this. If it were true....what kind of "man" is that?
AND..... I honestly had NO idea that the fights were staged...I've thought they were real (although I've heard that but I always thought it was sour apples talking) so I will give on that one. :D Guess you can tell I've never watched the sport. ;)
However, When the part of the job is specifically.....don't do this.....and you...SPECIFICALLY......do it AGAINST THE RULES then you cheat in my book and your "work" is contaminated.
-
THQ ordered to remove Chris Benoit from Smackdown vs. Raw 2008
Out in the real world it's "against the rules" to smoke weed....think about that for awhile. Just like we argue and support marijuana even considering it's illegal many Pro Wrestlers feel there is a difference from using steroids and abusing them.
Again its against WWE policy to have large amounts of steroids, Benoit had amounts that wouldn't have gotten him in trouble. So that eliminates #1 and #3 for the most part.

i can't believe this has stirred up some argument between the two of you....
shit, the dude killed his family... he's taboo in the media right now... this doesn't suprise me...
however one fucked up thing DOES NOT merit erasing every last thing he's ever done in the world, good or bad... should anyone look past what he did in his last momments? fuck no... should everyone forget his influence in entertainment just becuase of what he did at the end of his career? again, hell no....
as someone mentioned he was a major influence in wrestling.. you can't just erase him... do i believe what's going on right now is 'right'? yeah, i sorta do.... he kinda deserves the years of disgust he's bound to receive for what he did.... can use the drugs as an excuse all you want.... but it's not... seriously....
you are always in control of your actions... the drugs don't possess you and make you do anything... you let yourself make such actions....

Really i dont understand why people idolize pro wrestling so much, and this chris benoit issue really puzzles me. He was some crazy motherfucker that killed his family, and just cuz he pretended to wrestle he gets all the news coverage in the world... just a psycho strung out dickhead. Accomplishments? I thought you actually had to accomplish something to have "accomplishments"...

Umm he entertained people and not just like some stuck up overpaid movie star. He put his body on the line day in and day out, he endured the hardship of traveling constantly and having long periods of time away from family an friends to go across the world to entertain people. Thats what he accomplished. Professional Wrestling is very much like watching a show of Super Heroes and Super Villians battle eachother. It combines Fictional TV with Sports and athletics. People especially children idolize wrestling stars, look up to them like they do to Superman or Batman. For older people it's like watching any other show on TV, there's drama and action, and comedy. There is also an admiration of skill and techincal ability like watching figure skating or dancing. Being able to perform stunts and work with other wrestlers in putting on a match. Every move, every toss every slam tells a story in the match without words and older, experience wrestling viewers can appreciate that as much as all the other things in wrestling.
That's why people watching wrestling, that's why we look up to wrestlers. They are more than just actors on a stage, they put their bodies, their very lives on the line to give us every day people the chance to let our imaginations run wild to have heroes to look up to.

:wtf: WWE sucks because the results are scripted? Even though most other sports stars probably couldn't do have the stunts many of the professional wrestlers do during every show? Sucks because it's fake....I hope you only watch "real" sports and reality TV because if you watch any fictional show that would make you a hypocrite wouldn't it? I mean based on that logic X-Files must suck because it's fake, That 70s show must suck because it's fake...

lol your going a bit far into what i said.
ok lets try this.. im my opinion world wrestling entertainment isn't entertainment in my eye's because it doesn't entertain me.
btw an apology is in order from you for the "fanboy bad rep bullshit":)
-

This isn't really the topic for that, but I don't "owe" you anything. Even after I stated that I take care of my consoles you still insinuated that I'm either lying or treat them like shit (which is common fanboy traits to assume that no way your precious console of choice could have such a problem) and when I rightfully got pissed off about it you proceeded to tell me to "stop acting like a bitch" You rightfully got negative rep for that post and I'd do it again.
I'm not going to tell you sorry, because that would be a lie.

THQ ordered to remove Chris Benoit from Smackdown vs. Raw 2008
well melkane the reason it seems more fake than t.v shows. is because t/v shows like the 70's show and anything else for that matter. is not out there acting like it's real. u know going into it that a t/v show is just that a show. and for years wwe wwf wcw all of them acted as if they were really wrestling. and for years people thought it was fake but know body knew for sure. cause they wanted u to think and believe it was real.
thats why wrestling has the bad rap that it does. i mean i don't know how old u are but i grew up watching bam bam the for horse men andre the giant hulk. and for years they lead u to believe it was real when it never was.the blood all that yea they can (really get hurt)but not cause they were really wrestling

they all do in every sport. even boxing and even ufc. most like the hgh it works wonders. the prob is over doing it. if u take roids like ur supposed to most of the side effects will not be there. like roid rage and small testies and such but these guys are taking 5 to 10 times the amount ur supposed to. when the dose calls for 100mgs a week and there doing 900 to 1500 mgs a week i think that'll do something to ya.
