ok plain and simple I used 2 smoke marijuana and I started getting really bad anxiety attacks from it so I stopped but I started taking lexapro which took the anxiety away so that being said would it be ok for me to start smoking marijuana again and be anxiety free this time around since im on the lexapro? all comments will be greatly appreciated
theirs only one way to find out how long have you been on the lexapro ? give enough time for the meds to come to the proper level in your system and the roll up a big fatty and find out i hope all works out for ya

i have anxiety and was on lexapro.. and you know what i don't really know if it makes a difference. I think it all depends on you and how your body reacts to it. I never had attacks while high until i started other drugs... been clean now for 3 years and they went away.. this is all when on lexapro.. so like smokinbomb said only one way to find out.. toke up ! give it about 3 months to be entirely in your system. My doc said a month.. but it seemed longer then that.

ok thanks but yea ill be sure 2 let yall kno what happens if I decide to. I've been off about 7-8 months and ive been on the lexapro about 3 and I think im gonna be ok but, I just gotta see how I react to it this time
I feel ur pain 'cause I have suffered from anxiety problems most of my life. Weed seems to mellow me out so I feel less anxiety. But I'm also on meds from my doctor that seems to work pretty good.
I have had anxiety problems my whole life too and was on celexa for a while (worked great, but made me feel fuzzy and apathetic). So I went off and discovered that the weed I was smoking at the time seemed to help- it was all heavy stony indicas- and started experimenting with smoking right before bed. What I found what that with some combination of getting a good rest EVERY night and the weed, I no longer get panic attacks, and my anxiety is pretty well under control, meaning it's at a level I can live wiht.
I have OCD, and since I've STOPPED taking Paxil, which I took and smoked on for like four years, I've gotten panic attacks like...twice. It sucks, it kinda takes the fun out of weed, but I'm pretty sure it can be controlled through strength of will. For me at least, I think it comes about because pot raises my blood pressure, which is a physical signal to my brain to start freaking out, and because the emotions are so much stronger when I'm high. Just remember as hopeless as it can seem, you are in control, and that they're just really strong feeling and there is no way you are just going to suddenly die or anything. If you can do that and one starts to happen, it'll just go away in a minute or two. Ironically, I never had a panic attack on weed until I started that Paxil, first time I smoked on it I freaked out, had to go sit in the back yard wrapped up in a blanket wondering if I was gonna drop dead...lol true story. And it took a while but then I started blazing everyday on it for like, a few years. Now I quit it and it's causing a reaction, so medicines like that DO effect itoking at least somehow.
Best of luck. Anxiety sucks, it can ruin a lot of awesome things like smoking. But remember, it's all in you head, seriously, thats it, end of story, no exceptions. You can control anxety cause like that with work and time, you just have to retrain your brain to not start freaking out when some silly, anxious thoughts or feelings happen. When it starts to happen, you just have to learn to derail the whole mechanism of the panic attack, so you CAN beat it :)
Same with me. I have been on tons of psychotropic drugs for anxiety, none of which did anything positive. then i started smoking a strong indica every night before bed. I used to get insomnia which would lead to psychosis, but one joint before bed every night has kept me stable for half a year now.Quote:

Ive managed to come off of 4 2mg xanax plus 4 2mg clonazepam (a day!)
that I was on from age 12-22.
The key to my success w weed anxiety was to make sure I take @least 1 puff of indica when I wake, then take roughly 3-4 puffs 10 more times throughout the day. Small steady doses seems to regulate my anxiety to a more pleasent, exciteable sensation.

Its beyond me, why some bud greatly increases anxiety and some greatly decreases it but like you said, careful and consistent!
That's an easy one, it's the ratios of THC to the other psychoactive compunds. One of my breeding goals has always included 'weeding out' hahaha any prospective breeder plants that don't have a strong relaxing aspect to the high.
Well, hopefully you can teach me more about this, I'd love to be able to "engineer" a strain and call it "St.Attic" or "stattic" after the smartest girl I dont know! ;)

I've been working on one for 3 years now that is finally close enough to where I want it to be to deserve a name: Foxy's Dream, both for it's calming anti-anxiety, anti-insomnia effect, for the Afghani Dream in its heritage, and for the simple fact that it's a dream to grow- hardy, beautiful, vigorous, and clones like a charm. It's also sweet smelling and has a nice flavor.
Seriously, give yourself some time and if you do crosses, select males for vigor and structure, and save seeds from ONLY the females who were good plants that produced the style of bud you prefer. Be consistent and in a few generations you will have something suited to your needs and growing style.

This is not scientific and is only from my own observations.
My left brain had a habit of freaking my right brain out. The left language part of my brain would go "OMG! what if this shit happens!!!". My right brain would then freak out by sending my emotions intensely negative. This in turn would make me think more of the worst happening.
My solution was to act like I was in total control of my emotions. I would shut up my left brain and feel feelings that were appropriate for the situation. Feeling centered is a good one. I do that by thinking of something that I have no emotional attachment to like a paper cup or paperclip. I focus on that object and ask myself how I feel about it. This puts me in a chilled out shrug of the shoulders mood.
Personally if I had to put up with that crap all the time I would just bail from taking it.
Chron, if you want to breed for relaxation, start with stony indicas. I sent you a message too. I found that Afghanis are incomparable as breeding stock if that is your goal. Go to the seedboutique strain pages and just read read read, focusing on the comments that were left about the high of different strains.

Set and setting is always good when ingesting psychoactive drugs. Time and dose are also a big factor.
Take ur time. Take a couple small hits see how you feel. Take more hits if needed to reach your level of high.
I always do "tester hits" when trying out new strains. You never know how strong it may be.
I like weed where u get a little goofy and eat alot and be able to carry on with life. Not weed that makes you sit there stearing straight at the fridge for hours on end.
I take Lexapro every day... and have been for almost 4 years now. I have panic disorder and social anxiety..... basically, i'm a mess. ;) lexapro has helped me SO much... (oh..and the xanax when I feel panic rising). Still, I have to admit that I only started smoking marijuana about 3 months ago or so...and my anxiety and panic as INCREASED significantly. :( It's a major bummer. I also drink alcohol.....probably too often....but I've done that for years and never had an increase in panic attacks.
I'm beginning to worry if pot just isn't for me. :(
