2 weeks old, how do they look to you?
2 weeks old in a mix of miracle grow, perlite, and vermiculite. been watering every few days (when pots feel light (i have an empty pot to gauge :))) and misting the tops and bottoms of the leaves for the past few days daily.
I noticed 1 or 2 leaves curling under at the tips. I doubt it is nute burn from just miracle grow, and the lights are a few inches up (and it is really like 2 leaves, not enough for it to be the light I think). This is all under 2 26w CFLs right now.
Also in the one pic do I see yellow spots?!
I will upgrade to 1 gallon pots soonish, and I plan to upgrade my PC fans this weekend to a bigger fan.
The pic of all 3 was from a day or 2 ago, the others are from today.

When you transplant, bring the soil level closer to the rim of the pot. Looking nice

they look very good ... that tip-burn probably IS from the MG soil, but since you made it thru the seedling stage, they should be fine ... young, tender seedlings usually don't tolerate ANY amount of fertilizing, very well ... photos look like some green specks of algae on top of your soil ... true ?? ... if so, spray with some diluted hydrogen peroxide ... can't give you any ratios, I just splash some into water, not real critical ... be careful you're not over-watering ... spraying the leaves in un-necessary, unless you are foliar-feeding (possibly the reason for your algae) ...

that algae seems to wax and wane over days. Sometimes it is really visible, other times it is hardly there at all. I thought about some peroxide to snuff it out, but I also heard it shouldn't be bad as long as it stays like it is. My humidity I have at 60-65% and temps running 72-78, I kinda thought that is why I had it.
I been misting everyday just to prevent bugs and the plants seem to like it. Nothing heavy, just tops and bottoms of the leaves. That probably added to why I have algae lol.
When I transplant should I use less MG in the mix? This time I did 2/1/1 MG/perlite/verm. Next time should I go like 1/1/1? or even like 1/1/1/1 with something like coir to help "dilute" the MG?
The plants are looking hot as hell. I left my camera in the grow room and don't feel like getting it right now. I will post more pics tonight!

Well I have some new pics. They aren't looking as good now as they were 2 days ago, some drooping and a little more prevalent nute burn in some yellows. They were very dry and I didn't mist them yesterday. I watered them and upgraded their home.
They are now under 4 26w CFLs and I have a big box fan blowing on them now. Enough to make the leaves flutter so I will get nice strong stems.
Anyway, onto the pics!

btw, 19 days since I planted the seeds.

Ok, last night I transplanted my babies into much larger pots. I think they are 3 gal. I was going to go with 1 gal, then move up to 3 gal later, but I got some free pots and said fuck it. Anyway, I went with a mix of roughly 25% each miracle grow, plain soil, vermiculite, and perlite. I wanted to cut back the MG since I have some nute burn, and next grow I will not use an MG!
As you can see there was some root constriction, I should have transplanted earlier, but I will live and learn.
Any thoughts on trimming the nute burned leaves? I mean a few of them are kind bad on the tips and I don't see them coming back. Should I just trim the burned part, or take the whole leave?

edit: btw, they are 24 days old since the seeds went into the ground.

They look very nice! How many lights you got now? Ever think of the 42 watters?

u got humidity man in the first weeks excesive humidity is something rather more essential , as the plant continues to grow need lower lvls so to get fast growing new and thiner leaves as it will continue to grow it will get more and more stressed , u gotta AERATE ! ull see the differense in just the first nobe that will apear slimer than the excisting ones
If u just cant do aerate the room at least u can put the pots as higher as u can , the humidity in a room with a source of heat(light) tends to accumulate at the bottom if thats dificult too just grab some packages of any kind of rice and apply it to the room as natuaral dehumidifier ( try it 1st then judge it plz ;) )
Algae is an indicator and check again the humidity lvls on the plants location ( unless u got a fan blowing around )

right now im on 4x42W CFLS. I read that about humidity, they need less as they grow. I have a friend with a dehumidifier I been trying to get off him, but he keeps forgetting. My humidity right now usually stays at 65-75%. I should shoot for about 60% correct?
I know rice does work for sure. It is a trick to save cell phones that fall in water (or any small electronic device). You bury them in rice for a few days, and sometimes it saves them!
-
2 weeks old, how do they look to you?
well i may sound like the sphinx right now without giving a precise answer but the needed humidity is judged by the plant its self , a general rule to MY knowledge is less than 60% to any phase of the plant except sprouting/seeding , this way u may have np about molds , oh btw , once u have algae why not to have mold ...
go to the super market and get 5 packages of rice and place em in 5 bowls in the room ( gfrom the pics i can see its not a big room or some kind of underground structure , in second case u need dehumidifier)

when i was using miricale grow i was only using it in the water I would suggest not putting any in the soil!!!... i found some nice veg grow stuff at wal-mart for 3 bucks .... use something like 5-6-3 it seems to work best then miracle grow which is 5-15-5 i believe , so try to maybe water wit just rain water the next to times , or distilled ... it will help ur vegalil ....Im not sayin miracle grow doesnt help * BUT USE IT IN SMALL QUANTITY*, since its not the best!!.

S-Style-S, You know, people can come on this forum and write "fuck" in great letters or talk about their love affair with their sister, and pretty much no one is going to censor them.
However, people who come on this forum and then give bogus grow advice, soon find themselves banned.
You don't know much about growing and what you have written above is pure bullshit. Simply stated, you will not be allowed to continue to offer bogus advice on this forum. Someone could follow your "advice" and fuck up their grow and that simply can't be allowed.
You seem like a pretty decent person and I can understand how you just want to help. But leave the advice to the pros who know what they they are talking about.

LOL , personly non of the advice was bogus! , i have read almost every post on here for a month or more , and i told him what i thought. What was wrong with what i said?... im prety sure 25% miracle grow in with soil and verm , is way to much , is it not??... ive read other posts that say that it is , why not go back to those an tell others thats wack to ??.
sorry , dont listen to me it is true i am newb to the game ,
ill just sit back an watch :P.

Miracle grow makes a number of products. You are talking about a nutritional product - fertilizer.
...eggrole1 is talking about Miracle Gro potting soil.
In that context, can you see how ridiculous your advice sounds? Anyway, stick to things you know because you have actually done them yourself, successfully, and you'll be ok, and you'll learn, and some day you will be the experienced grower.

I had problems with MG potting soil.
Nitrogen deficiency made the lower leaves yellow and I was using only RO water with no nutes.
Stinkyattic suggested an orchid formula which seems to have fixed the problem.
Next time, I won't use MG soil.
Just my newb experience. Thought I would share.

2 weeks old, how do they look to you?
I too am having the yellowing of the lower leaves a bit. I trimmed the tips of a few, and took 2 whole leaves off. I was thinking it was more nute burn than N deficiency. What is this orchid formula that helped you out?
I know next grow I will be going with nute free soil mix and adding my own nutes so I can know exactly what goes in.
You can see a few yellow/burnt leaves in these pics I think, this was before I trimmed them.

LOL, MG soil caused my friend's lower leaves to turn yellow or even white like a sheet, and some leaves STILL looked burnt! How can it burn your plants AND be deficient at the same time? Who knows, but my friend's gonna start with just plain soil next time.

Wel it has been a few more days (day 32 today) and my babies are looking pretty good. I didn't get any nutes for them (the potential N deficiency) but I am not seeing very much yellowing now. Maybe the lame time release MG soil is starting to release more?!
Anyway, here are some new pics!

those are really nice looking. if you were to overfertilize then happen to cause a lockout of some of the nutes you could get a defficency because of to many ferts. causing lots of different problems. at least thats how i understood it.

sounds like your friend was over-watering his plant ... that could explain the yellowing, etc., while still being over-nuted ... just a guess ... :smokin:

just a quick update and more pics. Day 36 and they are looking SEXY! Been watering about every 2-3 days, trimming a leave here and there, and misting almost daily. I am going to upgrade my lights this week hopefully to 6 26W CFLs (2 per plant in a "hood" each).
