looks like they've still got some filling in to do...are you checking the trichomes with a pocket microscope to find out maturity?
Now you see that is what I need you lot for. We jsut threw some seeds in fabulous rich fertilised soil in our garden and hey presto 6 plants but we threw the two that were deffo males.
these 4 are so strong we have had to plant other smelly plants around to cover it.
We have never used anything but water and they are nice and sticky and the best smell in the world.
We live in a very hot country and the temp is 40's everday now. The moon is bright and I did read on here that I should block the moonlight from them but can't remember at what time in their progress I should do this.
So if you have the time would you explain trichomes and what to look for in laymans language for me. I am blonde by the way.

You would be better having a look in the cultivation or basic growing section, lots of information there.

Ok I have read up on trichomes in last half hour but still would like advice on plants. Is it something I have said as everyone else on here seems to get loads of advice.
They are grown outside with no extra help but fresh water and hot sun. they are 3 months old but only 1 metre high.
What I want to know is do they look like decent plants so far? Or should I scrap them?
they deffintly are all very nice looking. ESPECIALLY for your first grow. they look like they've got maybe a few more weeks to fill in until their ready, but i cant tell for certain. get a magnifying glass and look at the small crystals. when about 50% or even more have turned from clear to murkey/amber that's when you should think about cutting them down.
definitly read up more on the method of checking trichomes though becuase im not an expert either.
i realy like your plants thought, theyre all fine looking, and definitly please post pics of the harvest. but yea, the only real way to know when to harvest is by reading the trichomes. get a high powered magnifying glass or a jewelers loop if you dont have one yet. they look close, but definitly can fill in some more.

Thank you so much for some feedback chaps. I have read up on the trichomes but what do I put under the microscope?Is it the leaves, as nowhere says which bit I have t look at? I know I sound dumb but it is my first time.
Your plants look great! Don't scrap them though. Let them finish as premature/unfinished cannabis is an absolute waste of time.Quote:

You can buy them The Source, what used to be called Radio Shack. I got a nice 50-80x zoom on mine for $12.
You look through that scope, on your plant, and look at the trichs/crystals through the scope. It gives you a very close up view and the trichs look like little mushroom heads, or raindrops.
So wherever trichs are, you look at them. On the leaves and the buds, and you don't remove anything at all to look at them. Just leave the bud/leaves on the plant, let it grow, and look through using the scope.
When trichs are about 15% red/amber, 85% cloudy, you'll want to harvest. When the trichs start turning reddish, the THC is starting to break down.
If you cut when they are clear, you will lose potency and yeild.

Thank you for that I'll borrow a loop from my local jeweller as I don't think I'll find a scope where we are living.
It all started as a bit of a joke with these plants and all we have done is watered them but the smell is overpowering and we are eagerly awaiting a big fat smoke.
