My hope right now is for this Dem ticket, having voted Rep all my life I find no one there who inspires me. I can't stand Hillary, and Gore is old news.
Of them all I like Obama the most, with Edwards in a distant second. They both favor medical marijuana, and Obama is a very bright man with good ideas. I hope he can make some real changes in DC, we've needed it for a very long time.
Sounds good to me. That is a shock, for me though, to hear someone who states they have always voted for a republican to be supporting an Obama/Edwards ticket. Good shock though, not bad, by any means.
Remember though, the only real power a President has is being in charge of all military forces. For a REAL change of government you have to have the same mind set in the Senate and Congress. With Obama being so far to the left I really can't see him being elected not to mention getting working his agenda though with the houses. As far as being electable....I think that between only having 2 years in the Senate combined with his name, "Barack Hussein Obama", will be his downfall. Just one terrorist attack anytime close to elections and that name will be a turn off to many voters.
Edwards.....I HATE that dude! His claim to fame is robbing people of settlement money in high stake law suits. If somebody suffers I personally don't think these dudes are entitled to 33% or more of the proceeds when your talking in the million dollar + range. I see him as a whole lot more of what most voters despise.
I think in the end you're going to see a Hillary/? ticket........Good ol' boy Billy has alot of power with the DNC and I think he'll be pulling as many strings as possible.

I have to speak up for Mr. Edwards, as I am from NC, and democrats here are few and far between. I don't necessarily agree with the large sums of money that attorneys receive from cases, but to me, that's a "don't hate the player, hate the game" type of issue. And the victim does usually receive a substanital amount. (like in a $5,000,000 award, if the attorney receives $1,650,000, the victim is still left with $3,350,000) Law school is expensive, and unless you work for legal aide or are a public defender, most lawyers are very well paid. And I think that Tort Law is worse, by far, as the attorneys in those cases gain so much income from the cases and the victims often receive money not even worth mentioning.
Ron Paul is awesome. Although he is a republican, meany democrats including myself love him.

When the average Joe voter is looking at candidates this is the type of thing that is really going to turn him off completely. The average annual income in the U.S. is $45,000 and this dude is spending more than a weeks wage before taxes on one haircut......isn't part of his platform to help the poor?
If he EVER wants to be in the Whitehouse even as a V.P. he needs a reality check.

So now we're on the haircut again. You can still help the poor and get an expensive haircut. Him and his wife claim 8.6% of their income as charitable contributions. My mother gets expensive haircuts and is by no means wealthy. She states "that's the only person she's found that can do it right". She also donates all her used clothing to Goodwill. Oprah is very wealthy, and I'm sure has an expensive hairstylist (among other things) but she does much for the under-priviliged of the world. To me, you can't equate one with the other.
I like "some" of what Ron Paul has to say but by no means is he following the partys principles in regards to foriegn relations. Like others, I believe that he should be running as a Libertarian......he holds pretty much true to their format.Quote:

I respect the heck out of both John Edwards and Barack Obama, and they'd be my dream Dem ticket team, too. I think they'd be more electable than Hillary up against the Repubs. Edwards is wickedly smart and articulate. And he grew up poor, then worked hard to get his education, and got wealthy the way all plaintiff's attorneys do. He has knowledge, understanding and sympathies of poor folks in way that many educated, well-to-do folks who come from very modest backgrounds do.
I think the actual ticket is going to end up being Hillary/Obama, judging from the Obama fund-raising and the fact that she's hardly made a misstep so far in this campaign. I increasingly am beginning to believe they're going to be electable, too. Bush keeps helping them along.
I dont like edwards but come one. Does the cost of somebodies haircut have any affect on how they can run the country? I dont care if he fucks goats or anything else, if he can run America the way wanted him to (which he couldnt) i would vote for him anyway. We need to stay out of the personal lives f polititians. The only things we should look at is their stances on issues.

The problem with Kucinich or Gravel is a practical and very prohibitive one. They aren't going to be able raise the money or votes to win, and they're certainly not going to be able to win a party nomination. So their only choice will be to run as independents, and of course that means they won't win. Reality is reality. And history is very clear on how that works for candidates like those two. Idealism is great, but folks who know how politics in this country works need to go ahead and begin narrowing their candidates from the field of really viable nominees.

Exactly. The only reason we know this is because the press sucks. The press in France or another European country would never report on something like this. (I'm not a big fan of france but for some reason i just know the the frech media doesnt report on their polititian that way. I think ron paul has a pretty good chance of being voted. The buzz is huge and he's getting more and more supporters every day. If hes not elected im moving to Canada before the stick an RFID chip in me. But then theres all that Amero buissiness so i might even be forced into Europe.Quote:

Even though i'm a democrat i'm willing to root for Ron Paul because he believes so firmly in the constitution and he will prevent america from turning into something much worse than anything Orwell can ever imagine. he first step is getting rid of the federal reserve which he will do if he was elected. If people only knew the dangers of the federal reserve, i'm sure that Ron Paul would be in office by tommorow.
Ron Paul is the only candidate that actually believes in same principles that this country was founded upon. He wants to get rid of the private banks that control our money supply (The Federal Reserve) as well as abolish the income tax. Plus, he supports state's rights and wants to secure our borders unlike our current president. And he is for ending the Drug war. He also wants to get out of Iraq and end our policing of the world. He supports a non-interventionist foreign policy. I mean really, what is there not to like about this guy?

Doesn't sound like he's out to get rid of income taxes. If anything, he's following the Republican platform for lower taxes for all INCLUDING businesses.
As far as his foriegn policy....this isn't 1776 where it takes 53 days to sail over the pond in order to attack us. Ya just can't use 200 year old guidelines in a new age.

No, he is out to get rid of the federal reserve and income taxes because its unconstitutional. He talks about it all the time.
