As far as 'believing' that there is no God, I think its more of an assumption than a belief. I mean, it is a belief, but it's not like you have 'faith' in it, its just that you dont believe in God because the facts suggest that he doesnt exist.. i dont know if you can call that faith

Okay, I apologise for using the word 'fact'. It is not a fact that God does or doesn't exist, so I guess, in that respect, we both have to show faith for believing one or the other. It is impossible to prove that something does not exist, but if that thing can not be proved to exist, then it is a logical and reasonable assumption that said thing does [i]not[i/] exist. Anyway, smoke on :p

He was thinking "This ones for Larry, I love him so much and so badly want him to be happy." The forgiveness is there for you Larry anytime you want it. All you have to do is ask. Not even out loud. God has been there from day one in your life and he will still be there on your last waiting to show you all the love you haven't seen all the forgiveness you haven't experienced. This was one of the good things about christianity... but the funny thing is... almost all christians that I know are blessed and most of them are extremely well off myself included... it seems all the world does anymore is christian bash....

For me, personally, i don't like it. it's a big threat. like "if you don't do this or that ur goin to hell, if u do this ur goiin to hell, this is a sin, that's a sin" it's like what the fuck? how are you supposed to enjoy ur life if u have to worry bout all that shit? all that shit was put on me when i was a kid, that's why i don't really like it. (that's why i started that other thread, to see what ppl thought about that) then back then the church's would rule everything and fuck over ppl with their money. yeah that wasn't cool. i don't have a problem with the religion, just it's followers. and the religion makes the followers the way they are. not all of them just some of them, depends on how they interpret what they are taught. and i think ppl should find their own path, not follow one that they were taught. (another reason i started my other thread aobut kids) i don't follow what anyone says. i don't care how rational it might sound. i find out for myself. i have more respect for catholosism. but i think that's because i'm 1/2 mexican, and that's what my parents wanted me to be. ok i think that's enough of my thoughts for now.

Yes, some churches give money, food, shelter, clothing and whatnot to people who cannot afford them. But, if every church were to do so, then there would not be nearly as many hungry, underclothed homeless people. Instead of giving a hand up they are giving a hand out. They are keeping the homeless the way they are, because it makes them look good. If the churches actually gave a shit, they would take in the homeless people, clean them up, get them any medication they need to become as "normal" as possible and get them jobs so that they dont have to be homeless anymore. As a Satanist, I believe that Jesus did exsist, as a man. I feel that he had some good ideas on how to live ones life, but I do not believe that he was the son of God, or that there should even be a Bible. The stories in the Bible are some of the most gruesome stories ever told, yet it is worshipped as a textbook from God.
Also, if the church wasnt in it for the money then why would they ask their parishioners to donate 10% of their earnings before taxes? Does God really need money? Does God really need an elaborate set up of a church? Does God need people to preach to those who dont want to hear it? The answer to all these questions, if you believe in God, is no.
And what about those televangelists? They are ordained ministers of God and Christianity. Are you to say they arent in it for money? I was flipping through the channels a few months ago and happend to stop on the Christian network for some reason, and guess what I saw. I saw Benny Hinn on TV wearing expensive clothing, paid for by church tythings, and what was he on TV for? To announce that they had just launched their 50th $10 million satelite into orbit. Now, you do the math here. That is $500 million spent on satelites alone. How many homeless could that have fed clothed and got jobs for? Figure, if they were to provide each of the homeless people with a fully furnished house and clothing and food for one year, that would cost about, lets say $300,000 per person. That means they could have easly turned close to 200 homeless people into upstanding members of society. But did they? No. Why? Because launching all those satelites makes it so more people can hear their word so more people can contribute money to them and believe that the money is going to help people such as the homeless.

Why is it only the churches job to give? What have you done for the needy? Before you go pointing the finger, look at yourself. What have you done to better the lives of others? There are so many people who hate Christians, but I don't see much hate coming from Christians themselves. Christians are human like everyone, nobody is perfect, but Christians do try and improve their lives and the lives of others. Of course you can't stereotype Christians and say they are all good people, they are about as good as the rest of us. But what is wrong with believing in something that betters the life you live? What if...just what if Christianity is right????

most christians read the bible and understand the writing in the literal way. they actually beleive that noah built the arc and his family were the only people that survived the flood...

About the Christian churches and the people who work there; the majority of them are for real. they beleive in god and run the church because they want to save other people's lives. Donation money goes to the utility bills of the church, upkeep, and charity events.
Considering the catholic church,its mainly the same. personally i think that it is very sexist on certain things. and i also think that it is wrong to deny anyone the pleasure and right of the sex act. look what celibacy has done to several of your preists(not all), it has made them homosexual pedophiles. (and im sure most of those sisters are lezzin out in their private quarters... lol, j/k)

I never said it was only the churches job to give. I myself, as a Satanist, have gone out and fed the homeless at homeless shelters. I have given to charity before and not claimed it on my tax forms. As to your point of there being so much hatred towards Christians, this is true, although there is just as much hatred coming from Christians towards people of other beliefs. I cant tell you how many times I have told Christians about my religion, and been told immediately after saying the word Satanist that I am damned to Hell and eternal torment. My own mother, who has read Anton LaVeys "Satanic Bible", still believes that I worship her Catholic version of Lucifer, known falsly to many as Satan. The only way any Christian, other than my mother, has ever tried to help me better my life, when in drastic need of help, was to pray for me. How the fuck does that help me? When I was in drastic need of money so I could get away from my pedophile ex-gf, the only people willing to help me were the Atheists that I knew in the area and the one Satanist that I knew. Modern Satanists do not perform ritual sacrifices of animals or children, as Christians would have you believe. In fact, those are the 2 most commonly respected things in Modern Satanism, simply because of the fact that they have not yet been corrupted by mans many different religions.Quote:

As Im sure you may have heard from various Christian groups/people, Satanists worship Satan right? Wrong! Satanism is based on the meaning of the word satan as it was used through out the Christian Bible. It was never used as the name of the Christian devil (whos name according to their own Bible is Lucifer, who was an angel of light, who was stolen from ancient pagan beliefs that Lucifer was the God of light.) The word satan was mearly used to describe one of 2 things. Either something that was opposed to Jesus and his teachings, or someone/something that became an adversary of the Christian belief structure. As a Satanist, I am opposed to any religion or person who teaches that a person must deny their true selves (desires/ personal needs that can only be attained through a "sinful" way) in hopes of reaching a better afterlife that cannot be proven to exsist.
I spend much of my time online debating religion on MSN groups and have come to enjoy teaching about my beliefs to anyone who is interested.
