My room has two 1thousand watt lamps, and a 600 watt lamp in there. Definitely a good sized room.
Would this puppy work for a room about 150 sq feet?
Wow, those fucking portable jobbers are quite expensive. Thinking maybe I'll put wood over the window and mount a window a\c unit in the wood. Hopefully this wouldnt create light leeks.
All I know about a/c's is that you measure them by room size and btus.....more btus the more cooling power. Check things carefully because theres nothing worse than not buying one that will do the job......a good window a/c ought to do you fine.....lots of btus is what you want.. ;)
Someone told me those portable ones are far less efficient than a window one, and that makes sense, because you need to put the heat somewhere.
Just a small window a/c from home depot should not cost too much- I think I paid like $80? for mine and it does the trick.
Razza - Did you have too much fun on your vacation? LOL Here's what the website you linked sez about that a/c
"This is a personal portable air conditioner, ... Because this product is not vented and no installation is required, it cannot cool the whole room, it is a personal air conditioner and blows cold air to where it is pointing. Lot colder more than any air cooler or a fan."
So that pretty much answers that question.
Lowe's and Wallymart both have some real good prices on a/c units right now. If you go to Lowe's website you can see the a/c units and also it has charts for how many btu's you need for how many sq.ft. you have.
Fortunately, btu's increase much faster than prices, so it's very affordable to oversize your unit.
Personally, I'd buy from Lowe's - they seem to have the most bang for the buck a/c wise.
PC :smokin:
for a cabinet grow, that A/C should be fine, but you can do a lot better, price-wise ... I bought a cheapo 6000 BTU A/C from WalMart about 3 years ago, for $60 (buy your A/C in the winter, they practically give 'em away) ... keep in mind, while it pumps cool air into your cabinet, etc., you will still need to exhaust the hot air outside ... ...
P.S. RazzaPiggy, you don't need to post a new thread for each and every sentence , people will think you're being a "post-whore" :smokin:
...Damn ...that's a lot of light!.......Quote:

if so ...I would hook up to the central A/C floor vents and use dryer duct hose to blow between the lights and the top of the plants. I did.
Oops, I must have linked the wrong one because I was looking at one that said it could cool 150 square feet and under. My bad.Quote:

Nope, no central air in this house... I live on the California cost...it really doesn't get extremely hot here though it's been warm lately. I think the Window unit will take the temps down a good 8-9 degrees which would put me right in the 85 degree area (in the canopy)
ya, Dutch Pimp's idea of running the central-air ducting, that would be the cats'-ass, if you could set up that way  my present cabinet has very poor ventilation (my 4th cabinet, you'd think I'd have it figured out by now :wtf:) ... my temps run to 90 easily, but plants still seem to do well (70-75 is ideal, but weed will withstand damned near anything) ...
Was just reading another thread about how high temps can cause the buds to not tighten up as they usually would. I have to admit I've noticed the buds arent super dense. I'm dealing with some genetics that apparently pack on a good amount of their weight in the last 2-3 weeks so I've been told... curious if they will tighten up? I am getting the A\C unit put in today.
in the old days, we didn't know as much about pot, and we were taught the excessive heat stimulates resin production, so for years, I happily grew in 100+ temps, LOL ... oh well, we live and learn, but I don't remember any real obvious problems regarding the heat ... of course, I don't remember much of anything at my age, anyway ...
That is encouraging...I think. :) Yeah, I figure if they are given the correct temps for the last three weeks they should be able to dense right up. They are producing pretty nicely for being subjected to such warm temps by their bad father who has neglected them a bit because of his busy life. Well, at least I caught it early... hopefully I haven't done a ton of damage.Quote:

If you get the conditioned space down to 68 degrees or lower, the evaporator coil is gonna freeze....I can't change the laws of Physics. Same if the temp in the unconditioned space(where the heat is being moved to) drops below 60 degrees unless it has head pressure controls that are mostly found on large commercial systems. All this being said, Its better to go with a little bit smaller system or unit than what you think you will need(it helps to do the heat load calcs) for himidity control. Also keep in mind that with the humidity removal, you will have to water your grow a little more frequently.
However with A/C, there is an added bonus.... In a closely controlled space that maintains 75 degrees at 50% RH, the incidence of molds and such will be reduced to almost nothing.
Can you guess what I do for a living?? LOL
...guess how I grow?...mold free......:pimp:....
