Carrying a knife while taking a walk at night
Do you think that carrying a knife because you want to talk a walk is being paranoid? I mean, I don't live in the safest area and my dog doesn't know how to walk properly, so a knife is my only defense.
It's a decent sized knife with a case that I can keep concealed. Its more like a fillet knife. Anyone fucks with me...they may get a throat slashing. God forbid that happens, but thats what happens when thugs with no decency try to jack you.
I can scream pretty loud anyway, lol, so that is another deterrent.
Hey, if I didn't have to live in such a shitty neighborhood, I wouldn't have to worry about protecting myself.
-
Carrying a knife while taking a walk at night
Well, if you feel you need the protection and it makes you feel safer walking around your neighborhood then I don't think it's that paranoid. Hopefully you dont have to use it ever though.

Not a bad idea depending upon how you feel and where you live. You're only really carrying it for self-defense so I don't see why you seem (at least, seems to me) like you have a negative attitude towards it.
I don't carry a knife around with me, but I'll be conscious of whatever neighborhood I might be walking through, just being alert and street smart. But then again, I don't have a dog with me so it's different for me.
I'd say yeah, take it with you if it makes you feel safe. Worst comes to worst, unless someone is trying stab you or has a gun (basically a situation where your life is in immediate danger), don't go for the throat. If you just show the knife and keep your cool, they'll probably run. If you need to use it, try to stab their thigh or something. They can't chase you, you'll get your point across to: don't fuck with me, I'm not afraid to kill to defend myself if I have to.
But you'll probably be fine.

I might offend some people but it's what I believe. Unless you are protecting a family or a grow house haha you really don't need to be scared for your life. And I believe if you are protecting something VERY valueable, it's okay to have a firearm locked up in your house and unlock it every night for easy but hard to find access. like my pothead uncle does. he has three beautiful baby girls which i would protect with my life. infact, when I go there.....i know where the gun us, again, just for EMERGENCY reasons.
-
Carrying a knife while taking a walk at night
Id say so. I used to livein the shittiest neighborhood of new haven and wouldn't bring anything with me to defend myself. The more you worry about shit like that the moer likely it is to happen.

Unless you know how to use it your probably just supplying a knife for your attacker/s.

i own a knife and when i walk around late at night whether im in a nice part of town or a bad part i carry it. i already own it and there is always the off chance of a serial killer springing up who stalks people who walk around at night. cant hurt i figure. i just found it again as a matter of fact.

Knives are too suspicious. Try Mace.

I use to carry a knife, still do sometimes. It's a switchblade. Comes in handy for random shit, and helps keep people from fucking with you, you pull it out and assuming they dont have a gun, chances are they will be more cautious when trying to mug/fuck you up.

I respect fairness haha.. i realized the SAME thing but at the exact moment of that realization, i read my post again(in detail, like he did:wtf:) and i might not know a lot about growing but i would NEVER protect three plants with my life. sounds stupid.. lol

I don't know the legality of carrying a concealed knife but if you are going to do it don't use a filet knife. Get a Microtech Halo II. They come in different finishes and such and they are expensive but they are the knife. But listen to P4B and don't let them get this out of your hand.
Ever think about going with the collapsible baton?

Yes, I read that part and I couldn't edit it. People sometimes are scared for their lives without protecting a family or grow house(or MANY other situations for that matter)
I was just....kinda keeping my thoughts based on what the orignial poster commented about?
I should control my high and influenced typing. Who knows who could be paying attention lmao:stoned:

This is exactly why i recomend adults 21 and over should apply for a CWP pronto, check the local laws in your area ( Follow Them ) and be careful.

No, but I see your the type to start shit with random people. And I can't say how many times I've seen people on this site refer to female plants as baby girls. I just thought it'd be a bit crazy to throw your life away for a few plants so I was making sure thats not what you really meant.

I can understand women needing some form of protection if its a sketch neighborhood, but personally I say leave the knife at home. Its sketch if you should get patted down.
Just make yourself an unattractive target and youll never be bothered. Dont carry or wear anything pricy looking and you wont be percieved as worth the effort of mugging.

I live in a town that is fairly "safe" but recently there has been an abduction in a surrounding town, and a couple attempted abductions in my town (in broad daylight none the less) so...i would say yes. very much so

All this bad neighbourhood, good neighbourhood talk is irrelivant. Crime happens everywhere, especially when you least expect it. I want to carry a knife but i don't. I believe in England the law views that if you are found in possesion of a knife, that in itself is intent to use the knife in a crime. Therefore, since i usually have bud on me, i don't need any extra weapons to potentially add a more lengthy jail sentence. I wish that i could walk the streets free of fear, but i can't. I am always aware. I only have a crappy swiss army knife, that i've mainly used to scrape my rezin in the past. My safety is extremely important to me which is why i am not considering purchasing a decent knife for protection. Luckily i haven't needed to use one but the thing is you never know what the future holds. I feel i'm always outnumbered by chavs, there seems to always be 5 or 6 of them and just one of me. I want a gun more then a knife but that's 5 years if caught...

Oh you can't be more wrong with that statement. Crime can happen anywhere, yes, but it is MUCH more likely in certain areas. You don't live based on "crime happens everywhere." If you did, you'd be one paranoid sob who never left his house and kept a shotgun by his side. You live on probability. Alright and good neighborhoods are where people usually walk and not expect anything to happen. Worse parts of town is where people walk and know if they're not careful and/or lucky, something could happen.

It's that kind of attitude that will catch you off guard in your 'safe area'

its bogus that there are even places where people are scared to go out for a walk. especially in america. used to be a nice place. for a little bit lol.

Yea carry it if is legal to. Around here, I've seen people get so fucked up...carry the blade everywhere, just incase something like that happens (muggers, mistake me for someone else, etc). I refuse being stomped on like a fire.

putting that shit on the news everyday is a big reason for bad things happening. of course something like that is going to happen every day we live in a country of 300 million peple for the love pete. the odds say there are going to be at least 365 wackos and rapists, probably way more.. media likes to keep us living in fear. it doesnt happen nearly as often as the news would have you believe, even if it is every day
this says it all:
"The eyes of fear want us to put bigger locks on our doors, buy guns and lock ourselves away.
The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one.
Hereâ??s what we can do to change the world right now to a better ride.
Take all that money we spend on weapons and defence each year. Instead use it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the worldâ?¦. which it would, many times overâ?¦ no human being excludedâ?¦. and then we can explore spaceâ?¦ togetherâ?¦. both inner and outerâ?¦ foreverâ?¦. in peace."

lol it was more of a steak knife actually. pretty long. i had it pretty well concealed under my shirt. All I had to do was just whip it out quick and the jacker would be fucked. i have physical strength to so the jacker would have to wrestle me pretty good in order to rob me.
i'd rather carry a 9mm though.
its a shame that my city has become very shitty over the last few decades that I have to resort to this. it used to be really nice.
not to be racist at all, but a lot of the crime where i live is being committed by blacks that come from New York and Philly. and they bring their shit with them too like their crack. fucking crackheads.
you can never be too careful.

dude... i dont see any problem with packing a knife... but if i was you... i would just get a great big dog that no one wants to fuck with(E.G. husky, great dane, pit bull, rottwhilers...) then you wouldnt have to worry about a knife... but i rember in my younger days (14, 15, 16...BTW im only 17) but when i was younger using different things... i would pack a knife on me at all times... mainly a butter fly knife... but the butter fly was just to scare people... 100% novelty, it wasnt sharp enough to even break a blade of grass let alone some ones skin... so i always had a second knife... just your basic fold out knife... that was sharpend on a real rough wet stone(to take all the chips in the blade out) then a little bit finer wet stone... and then a real fucking fine wet stone... and then to get a real fine edge on it, it would go across a thing used to sharpen the old fasion razers, the ones that folded out sort of like a knife... now let me tell you what i kept that knife sharp all the time,,, you could set it on you thumb... and just let it sit there, and the weight of it alone would cut your finger..
but now im a bit bigger, a bit faster, and a bit more exprinced in fighting, and have the knoledge of weather or not to run when it comes to a fight... so i dont carry a knife on me anymore.(alot of its due to the fact that most of my knifes were illegal i dont want the courts to find out im packing a butter fly knife, or a pocket knife, after my resent charge, it would not make my judge very fucking happy)
and also... if i wasnt a felon, i would most likely be packing a hand gun around if i was still using htem.... sad sad world we live in... i mean a fucking 16 year old toting around a consealed hand gun cause some one wants him dead....

Just to play devils' advocate for a minute, what to the americans here think of this argument?
If gun ownership was made illegal, the murder rate would drop dramatically making things generally safer thus reducing the desire to carry knives/concealed weapons.

my mother always taught me to carry a knife wherever i go, so i keep one in my car, and sometimes i would carry one. My uncle Dan gives me knifes almost every time i see him i am starting to get a collection lol. My mother made me practice with a butterfly knife until i stopped cutting myself lmao.. i remember being stoned and slicing my fingers over and over.. I finally got it down though
edit: i have never have used a knife on someone before... but i have used knifes to carve wood..

Well most of the murders done with firearms are illegal to begin with. I don't think you'd see that big of a drop in the murder rate. It's usually either illegal weapons (usually fully automatic guns) like a tec-9 say, or ones that are bought/owned illegally, ie not registered.
Good point reefer, I see what you mean. However, I'll live on probability. If I'm going to a worse part of town, I'll be much different about things. But if I'm going to a part of town I know I should be ok, I'm just going to assume I'll be fine. I'm very observant and street smart so I can usually catch something before it happens, but I'll deal with things as they come, I have in the past, and will in the future. I'm not going to live in fear. And sorry if I came off a bit rude, I just really disagreed with that statement. I don't want any hard feelings. :)
