Ever feel like you've met the one?

It's such a big thing to say, but I feel as though I may have.

I returned back to my old job for the summer and ran into a girl I had seen before I left a few months earlier. When I saw her, well, hopefully most of you know what it feels like when you see someone who you think my be the 'one'.

I ended up sitting with her and a mutual friend and that was where we got talking.

We havn't had any deep meaningful conversations or anything, seeing as we've only spent time together at work (gave her a ride home one night after work) but we've really got along brilliantly for about 3-4 weeks.

From the start we've found each other's sense of humour (which i think has been the biggest thing to bring us together) great and we really think along the same lines. She's certainly acted like she has a certain affection for me and has said things like 'you make me laugh' etc, and is very relaxed around me (although she is fairly easy-going anyway).

I'm so confused right now, which I think is why i'm spouting all this drivel now.
This should be a great time, but I'm feeling so much anxiety and a general level of depression. She's gone on holiday for a week and I'm so down.

I'm feeling so impatient for her to come back. I really miss her, so much, and I know it's crazy to miss someone you've only been seeing at work for the last few weeks but I'm so wrapped up in it all. I'm worried that I'm putting way too much thought and pressure onto the whole idea and that I'm going to ruin any chances of a real relationship forming between us. But I can't help it....Even cannabis is failing to soothe me.

I'm sorry this is so long and so about me me me but I needed to get it off my chest. Is anyone else going through this right now? Am I reading too much into her being friendly, or might she return the feelings?

I'm not really looking for an answer, because I don't really have a question about this but if anyone could write anything that they think might help me (in any way) to get my head around this or if you're going through something similar and want to chat then go for it.

Im going through the exact same thing. Met a girl, known her for about 3-4 months and we get along great. We both smoke reefer, we have an interest in antiwar stuff, we even go bed and get up at the same hours. And I do feel depressed because I feel that she is way outta my league. I mean, this girl is a STUNNER, it doesnt matter to me if shes got makeup on or not, I dont care how her hair looks, its always amazing. Shes just the epitome of beauty, but I dont love her for her looks. I love her because she is such a caring person, a giving person, and she just makes me happy to be around. Not like other girls where Ive only been truly happy when in the sack, she can just be playing the guitar and singing and that on its own makes my heart melt.
Dont know if I can offer any advice, Im just rambling on here :)

Edit: fuck it, im gonna ring her now and see if shes at home. If she is, im gonna ask to come round. I cant hold my feelings in any longer.

I know exactly what you mean about the whole idea of the beauty of her personality as opposed to physical beauty.

This girl I'm on about, in my books atleast, is one of the most beautiful girls i've ever seen, but I don't really think about her in a sexual way. Sure I'd like to express my feelings in the traditional manner *wink* but the things that stick in my mind about her (read: obsessed about) are the things she says and does. I take it that's how you feel anyway..

What was it like when you met if you don't mind me asking? Was the relationship easy-coming? Did you notice anything about how you both acted with each other that was different than with other people?

Well she wasnt in, but I sat and had a spliff and a few beers with her mum and her boyfriend whilst watching big mommas house and jonathan ross.

What was it like when we met? All I remember is chatting to her for a few mintues, and when I left I was like 'wow, I really, REALLY wanna be with her!'. Shes a bigger pothead than me (and that takes some beating!) so we were both really chilled out with eachother. We just get on so well, I just hope that she feels this connection too...

i found the one! i think.. lol we're all a bit too young to be spending the rest of our lives with one person, although it is ideal.

I've found the girl I think is 100% perfect for me, after 2 1/2 years of perfect conversation and understanding, and only now is she available. But unfortunately I can't start anthing until a) she's had some time to deal with the breakup, and b) I have a job. I really can't feel worthy until I'm making money and have something to offer, some amount of money is necessary after all. But it's a bitch trying to get work when you can't stand for any length of time.

*sigh* I'm getting impatient sometimes though, wanted to be with her for so long now.

why are you people putting so much pressure on yourself to finding someone to spend the rest of your life with? Just have fun and date as many people as you can and worry about that sh*t when ur older. Soul mates don't exist, not in a country where 2 out of 3 marriages end in divorce, I'm sure each and every one of those people thought they found "the one" as well. Just have fun, don't put so much pressure on yourself and the person you are hooking up with

honestly don't know what to tell you dude...

if you think it's right, go for it... simple as that.

don't let someone who may be the one just slip through your fingers.... you'll regret it forever and ever.... i can promise you that now...even if you do find out later she wasn't, you'll still look back on it and kick yourself...

And I gotta ask how old you people are, no offense but you guys sound like you're all still in highschool. Some of you sound like you just fell in love with the first girl that actually talked to you lol. I've been there, we all have, just warning ya to not get so serious at a young age ;)

Six years and no regrets at all. We still feel like teenagers, even though we're in our forty's now.

i'm 22 as of july 13th btw... i've known my wife for like 8 years now... got together like 7 years ago, and we've been married like 3 1/2...

yeah i kinda knew it was who i wanted to be with.. i knew at first sight, but she was with someone... after he broke up with her (cuz she wouldn't put out... i about slapped him for being a fucking idiot pussy hound) well.. yeah it's all history :p

Just because most people settle for something less, doesn't mean there's no such thing as soul mates.
And money doesn't matter either. I've been disabled for decades, including when we met. She loves me for who I am, not what she can get from me.

But what i said was true, however I know it's just anxiety causing my brain to just throw out all these thoughts and I needed to vent.

As for my age, I'm 19 (20 this year). I don't know if Im looking too much into it, I rarely meet girls who i consider to be the one though, so I'm still gonna try and see if anything comes out of it all.

I understand it all sounds a bit high-school-ish or whatever but I like to think most men feel like this occasionaly when they meet the right kind of girl, at least initially.

Did you have to make a concious effort to 'make things happen' at first?

Things seem to be happening quite effortlessly with this girl but there's gonna be a time I have to step up and take the lead, unless she does.. hehe

I thought my ex was the one... but I guess he wasn't considering he's my ex now =\
