high yields, whats your secret?
ok i just have a question that has been bugging me for awhile. I often come to this forum to read up on other ppls grows and I often notice that you guys' yields are enormous compared to mine...some of you get pounds at a time from just a few plants! how do you do that? do you just let it veg for a long period of time?
im lucky if i even get half an ounce (dry) from one plant. I have tried LST and regular old fashioned growing... and i just cannot even come close to what some of you guys yield from one plant.. I dont get it =(
i am currently growing, 3 plants are about to be harvested in a couple weeks and i just started 7 seedlings, i just want the best for my babies this time around!
your help would be greately appreciated!

Well, what kind of lights are you using? That can have a huge impact on yield. Also, are you using hydro or soil? If soil, perhaps you need a bigger container. There are a lot of factors that can effect yield.

Hey, thanks for your response...
to answer your questions, im growing in soil -- using fluos for veg and 400 watt HPS during flower. Im growing in pretty big containers too (18 cm diameter during veg and then i transplant to 26 cm pots for flower). got a fan going, temp seems to be ok -- maybe a bit on the warm side when i grow during the summer, i dont have a pH meter though (using tap water that i usually leave out overnight) and i dont have a humidity meter either....
I use veg nutes during the veg cycle and flower nutes during the flower cycle -- maybe like once a week.
does that help?

I'm doing about the same in my grow except with a bigger HPS. Are you harvesting at the optimum time? The last 2/3 weeks can make a huge difference. I love that $10.00 pocket microscope from Radioshack. Takes the guesswork out for sure.

yeah i got the pocket microscope... and i dont believe i am harvesting too early.. i guess i ll be more patient for this next grow, just dont wanna be too late.
anyhow, i will also let them veg for a longer period of time to make sure they get a little bigger than usual.
thanks for your input though. peace

bluntwiz - if you read how the people with the big harvests grow their crops, you will discover the little things that can make a difference in your yield.
But you have to do a lot of studying, not just drool over the grow logs. LOL
I'm not going to pretend like I know a lot about growing, because I don't. However, I do know that nutrition and environment are very important to your plant and you seem to be really neglecting your plants in those areas. You need to get a ph meter (or at least a cheap test kit) and a ppm meter and start dialing in your nutrition.
Good luck!

I see you say that you have 26 cm pots....thats only about 10 inches. Generally, you want 1 gallon of pot for every foot of plant you have. You might want to jump up to using bigger pots, say at least 3 gallon size.

LOTS of red spectrum light during flowering, and LARGE pots (#5 is usual size) ... :smokin:

high yields, whats your secret?
I use a soiless mix sunshine #4. A 400 hps, 20 gallon rubbermaid tub,and earth juice products, superthrive weeks 2 through 6 of a 10 week veg cycle. this is only 1 plant clone. i also use 2 fans one pointed at the bottom and one at the top of the plant this increases the stalk thickness big time! after it gets abought 1 foot high i top it then at 2 feet high i start to slowly bend it over so its level with the ground and continue vegging untill the 8th week then switch to a 600 hps for the rest of veg and flowering bending will let all the side shoots to grow up to tried this only once so far and dry weight was 8 ounces

Alot of factors need to be taken into account, Hydro seems to yield higher than soil, Aero yields higher than hydro. CO2 adds to yield, good lighting, nutrients, veg time, Did I miss anything?

to get bigger yeild you need better lighting bigger pots bigger space better reflective material soil ect...its all how u treat the plants and what ever and fimming your plants gives you bigger yeild too...

Well Bluntwiz,
You gave us a little in site into your world but not enough. The suggestions I can give you are based on what you have gave us.
So you want a big yield? Well, after one week under the CFL move them under the 400watter for the next month. Then flower under a 1000 large pots no transplanting. No 1000watter you say? Get one or stop complaining. No pH pen? Go to the pet store they sell kits $8.00.
What are you feeding them? Try FoxFarm Soil & Fertilizer Company What is your venting like are you getting by or big pimping? If your big pimping then your dealing with several Inline Centrifugal Fans.
Now this information is only suggestions based on unknown information about your grow situation. If you desire more then please post more detail about your complete setup then maybe we can get you to more than an oz for three months work. But what do I know?

high yields, whats your secret?
Yield is not so much what I go for. My colas I grew where the highest of thc concentrations as I only use a low tds of short half lived organics. The same size nugs with synthetic or mined elements for npk would have weighted 4 times as much. I use earth juice grow at 80ppm and 20ppm maxicrop flakes. The taste is unmatched and you will not have to worry about burnt tips or flushing really. I keep the same mix through flower as switching npk can cause stress and P only adds weight with lack of balance (scar tissue) and speeds flowering through stress. People do not use it in veg as it injurs genetics. From my experience the heavier the nug the more head ache or dumb feeling which is not getting high in my book. Light and fluffy is the headie shit

you should probably vegg at least month and a half if only doing a few plants. plus make sure the ventillation is set up well.. makes for better flow off carbon dioxide which is what the little ones love.. make sure u have well drainage soil.. coco mix works wonders too... and dont be impatient. lol hope this helps a little

u should be able to pull half p easy when u get it just right flowering 4 plants at 2 1/2 feed tall

I concentrate on plant health, light, and ventilation, and let the plants' genetics take care of the rest.
