Little things you do to minimize the damage... regardless of if it really works
I worry a teensy bit about health concerns from smoking. So far so good, but I've been smoking for 20+ years so I won't be surprised if it catches up with me someday.
Whenever I'm smoking I try to fully exhale allll the smoke out after each hit. I smoke alone 9 out of 10 times but even if Im w others I dont look like a dumbass doing it, I've got it down to where no one can tell Im being weird, lol. and I most always take a drink after each hit too, I guess I figure it washes any baddies out of my mouth (and I guess I try to not think about the fact that it washes them right down to my gullet, but whatever)
I am pretty sure that its futile, but somehow it makes me feel like all will be fine.
What about you?

Smoke out of a bong.
Filters out all the "Baddies".

I hold it in as long as I can....if no smoke comes out when I exhale, did I really even smoke? baHA!

I've got it all backwards. I always take huge rips and cough my brains out, having little or no concern for my health.

I do care about my health, so i only smoke hash oil. Thus, the amount of smoke is far smaller, and so the health damage... i only hold the smoke some 5 seconds, and as txgirl said, i also drink some water after each hit, for cleaning my throat.

Vaporizers can't even get all the "badies", and there's no way a bong's as good as a vaporizer. You're still getting your carcinogens man.

About fifteen years ago, my friends and I were sitting around a table, in my basement, when one of my friends blew smoke into the daylight coming through my basement windows, and said, "Look how much smoke stays in your lungs."

Doing anything aerobic on a regular basis will help the lungs clear themselves, the vaporizer too, and there drugs called 'statins' that can help (see link).

I've toked for 40 years now, and Crispi- I'm not quite 60 yet, that will happen later this month, lol! ;) After all that toking (I don't use tobacco, except to kill ants), my lungs were a mess! Two weeks after getting my vaporizer, my lungs were clear! No more morning cough! It was worth every cent! If I were you, I'd get a vaporizer, ASAP!
I also take vitamin E- Back in the 70s, my Dad was on atomic submarines. He told me that the Navy insisted that all submariners take vitamin E to offset the effects of being in a low oxygen atmosphere. Vitamin E apparently improved work performance. Since smoking affects the level of oxygen in your system, I figured it would work for tokers, too! And Crispi's right- I ain't quitting any time soon! Maybe when I hit 100, but I don't think so! - Granny

That's interesting about the Vitamin E stormcrow! I knew it helped with a few things, especially the condition of my skin, but I've never heard of it helping your body utilize oxygen better. Although, Vitamin E is a huge contributer to helping your body absorb and maintain Vitamin C, which is a powerful anti-oxidant and immuno-support agent, as well as tissue repair and a few different anti-cancer mechanisms. So I wonder if the effects for the submarine crewmen was actually from the E, or the C, or both. Either way, glad you're into studying nutrition too, I love it!
