and if not, why? :(
just a week ago, the quarterback from my old highschool died in a car crash, he was ejected from the car... didn't have a seat-belt on...
i feel like everybody knows at least one person who's died like this...

i have a bad habit of not wearing it, but ive gotten better at remembering to put it on recently
Don't give the man a reason to pull ya over.....buckle up for safety!
Have a good one!
yeah, but ti's not cuz i want to...
i was in a high speed chase, no seat belt on.. 120 mph in a compact sports car (no airbags, no fluffy cushion to hit either) and we flipped 2 1/2 times.. i escaped without injury... i knwo i got lucky, but if you look at seat belt injuries my god... they're ok or 50-60 mph... but when you start hitting 70, 80etc... the only real seat belt that's gonna help you, atleast worth enough to wear it is a 5 point restraint, and i've yet to see a production car with one :p
the normal lap/shoulder belts at high speeds have broken collar bones, ribs, etc... even at lower speeds then i was going at... it's probably all just based on chance and what not... but after my wreck i'd honestly rather not be wearing one...
besides... those things chafe my neck -.- goddamnit i hate that.... that's my only qualm over them, besides the statistics i've seen... (btw don't mis construe that, they greatly reduce injury at lower speeds, it's just higher speeds, nothing can really help you, airbags, seat belts, nothing, it's all dangerous... it's just too much force and not enough resistance from your body to handle.... some are lucky like me and walk away, and some go straight from what used to be a car to a body bag)
but, the fastest we ever get to around here is 40 (we're in a small town) i only wear 'em cuz again, small town but we've got a shitload of cops who've got nothing better to do (i've honestly seen them pull over 60-70 year old women and give them a ticket cuz they didn't have one on) so i wear it just to avoid paying for it... i tend to put the shoulder strap behind me tho... >.< god i can't stand that chaffing..
i don't know about you all but in miami it's a secondary law. Meaning, a cop cannot report to dispatch that it's pulling you over for a seatbelt.
I made sure to ask in traffic school. lol
so sometimes....when I know that speed is "necessary". and in miami, folks, sometimes speed is the only way to avoid getting mad.
My brother died in a car crash because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt. The cops say he bounced around that car like a ball in a pinball game. He left behind a wife and little girl. ALWAYS wear your seatbelts! The people you leave behind will be devastated. I have never before, or since, experienced that kind of grief.:(
I always, or almost always put mine on. For a while I didn't, but then I realized how stupid it would be to die just because I didn't feel like putting it on. So many bad drivers around here, and wearing a seatbelt is the law.
I have *ALWAYS* worn seat belts. I figured out early on that if a race car driver can hit a concrete wall at 150+MPH and walk away from it, thats good enough for me. Consider that in my life, I have already driven close to a half million miles, thats a good thing. For seat belts, my personal favorite for comfort is a 4 point harness with a quick release.
like isaid earlier... that's a 5 point restraint system.. much diffrent... i actually think all cars should require them, they're alot safer then lap/shoulder belts....Quote:

Why would anyone travel in a car and not wear a seatbelt ? First and foremost from a safety standpoint and secondly as P4b pointed out don't give the law anything to single you out for.
I always wear a seatbelt..
Feels wrong, if I don't.. I just got used to it.. It always pissed me off at first, but not anymore.. Plus, my car has one of those annoying "BIP BIP BIP BIP BIP BIP" things if I don't have it on..:p
I knew a person whose car sank and the seat belt prevented them from escaping.Quote:

The only time i have worn a seatbelt is when im going over 100, like when i had a fiesta ST.
But when theres other people in the van i make them wear it, especially if it's my little cousins.
If i get hurt thats my own choice, but i dont want anyone getting hurt coz they were wearing one.
It's the first thing I do when I get into a car, force of habit now.
Regardless, I'd still rather come out with broken bones and or bruises than be dead. A belt is a belt, and that's all that's on offer to us at the moment. N' no matter what you say, it's better than not wearing one at all.Quote:

I had a 5 point harness and bucket seats in a fiesta ST turbo, and it was great. You feel alot safer too. Not to mention the seats warmed my arse while i ragged it about.Quote:

I usually always do. Just so i don't get fucked. And so my friends wont be pulled over. Clicket or ticket =\
Never wear it. No one ever made me do it when I was young or anything so it's a habit I suppose. Yeah yeah, I know that's not a good reason...
Dude.. Fuck the law, I'm not going to pay with my life over 2 seconds of safety..:rolleyes:Quote:

I like to do what I can to ensure that I die later rather than sooner, so yes, always.
Yes. Always. I worked as a paramedic for too many years not to know what not wearing a seat belt can do. It's not pretty. Even when the accidents aren't fatal, the facial injuries are appalling.
Buckle up. Please. If you don't do it for you, do it so some tender-hearted medic doesn't have to come scrape you up out of your car or off the pavement and live with that memory for the rest of his/her life.
here in town I don't..because city cops don't even wear theirs and don't really bother to enforce it..only highway patrol..
stupid fucking law...it should be our choice...I personally would rather take my chances being thrown out than stuck in the mangled tin can of a car bleeding waiting hours to be cut out..
Always, even before it was law, why wouldn't you want to wear one, I worked in an accident and emergency unit many years ago and trust me after a few months in there you would always wear a seatbelt, those who brag about not wearing one, well put it this way, laminated windscreen and hard dashboard versus very soft human face and skull....No Contest!! only one winner!!
Cheers

Only if I am driving because the car won't stop making a beeping noise until I put it on. Other than that I will if I remember or if someone tells me to. I think it's really cute when my boyfriend tells me to buckle up, and not in a sexual way.
I try and remember. I broke my back in a car crash because I wasn't wearing one. Since then, I made a good habit of it until I got my motorcycle. Now I feel so much safer in the car, I kinda got back out of the habit. But I still always wear it when riding with somebody else, especially on the interstates.
I got in a wreck last year and if I hadn't been wearing my seatbelt I would have likely gone through my windshield and been in ICU. I was only going 45mph.
Never belt up,,,people look at me weird and some make me do it in order to ride with them...
I ALWAYS wear a seatbelt. Even if I'm just moving my car in a parking lot. It's just a habit. When I used to hang out with my friends in middle school, some of the times, their MOMS would not care if we wore a seatbelt or not- my friends didn't, but I did. They laughed then, but one of my friends who DIDN'T wear a seatbelt- in the back seat- ended up being in an accident, and killing the driver of the car who was wearing one- he flew right over the seat, caused the driver to lose more control, and he went into the other lane on an interstate.
If you're in my car, you WILL wear a seatbelt. Out of safety for ME.
We were doing about 80, maybe only about 60 or so when we actually left the road. Fortunately the dash stopped my face from going through the windshield. Still busted my eye wide open. But yeah. It doesn't take a whole lotta speed to hurt. The brain only has to hit the skull at 13 MPH to kill ya. Tha's what my motorcycle instructor said.Quote:

i used to have that same thought, except i wore one but i did not think it should be law. then someone pointed out this situation. you get in a car accident with someone else, you are at fault, but they arent wearing a seatbelt and die or get very seriously injured in a way that could be avoided. first of all this is going to cause not only some insuranceproblems for you, but also i dont think it is fair to put someone else through the guilt of it all just because they were at fault but you could have saved yourself had you buckled up. if you know what i mean i feel like i havent clarified it well enough.Quote:

Since the addition of the below said substance track officials tell me seatbelts aren't even enough , harnesses and cage now if I wanna play. :D
