remove the post count!
I worked hard to get my posts...why remove it?? and exactly how much space does it take up? like almost none?
CRAP! I voted wrong. I want to leave post count.
It is important in some forums like growing and drug testing to see if people know what they are talking about or if someone justs comes by once in a while and doesn't really know how to grow weed or pass a drug test. I spend a lot of time correcting misinformation in the drug testing forum and it is helpful to people to see who has experience. If anyone has been in the drug testing forum you will see me arguing with people about niacin all the time. For like the 50th time that was a myth started by L Ron Hubbard the father of scientology which makes you pay to join their religion and gave us couch jumping Tom Cruise who also thought niacin was going to cure Brooke Shield of her postpartum depression. It is helpful when I have to argue with a newcomer who hears this myth and thinks he has discovered the wheel and posts it. I still have to argue with veterans but science is on my side there. I am sure that goes on in the grow forum as I don't post there because I don't know anything about growing. I'm sure there are other times when you would like to look at a member's post count to help gauge whether they know what they are talking about like recipes, vaporizing, who knows what else. It's a good thing.
Here's another example. Before Birdgirl became a mod, how many people asked her for advice and you could tell well maybe she knows what she is talking about because of the post count. Not the only factor but probably one factor for some people.
Damnit I need my vote reversed! Sundance leave the count!
like rep, country and join date it is merely a bit of trivia about the member. though relatively meaningless, they do give clues about the personality behind the screen name.
for instance:
someone who joined three weeks ago and has 5,000 post most likely has little to say, but insists on endlessly repeating it.
or
someone who is obviously from the us and insists on flying the flag of another country undoubtedly has sever mental problems and should seek professional help immediately.
I wouldnt die without it but I do like it. It really shows who knows whats going on in cannabis land. Like you know p4b knows his shit or billion for example or Slip!
*cough*
i feel naked i have like 2 posts
LOL....giving props to CC also!:thumbsup:Quote:

yeah fuck that... i worked hard and long for my post count... getting 10k posts was always a goal of mine... it don't mean everything, but it does show alot...
and as P4B already put it, it is a moderating tool.... very easy to single out the shit starters and just those people with strong opinions very easily...
either way i say fuck that.... and if it really does bother you, why even pay attention to it? one way or another.. i've seen a few people here complain about people who put pride in their high post count... if it doesn't bother you, it shouldn't bother you either way... you getting 'irritated' by it only shows jealousy :p
nuthin' wrong with bein' nekkid :jointsmile:Quote:

Well now we're getting somewhere ! haha
If that were the case, I'd sign in as a new-user everyday. Just keep making up handles. I posted 10,000 in my first year. I kind of like a number of that size.
How many times have you had sex? "10,000"
Sounds great.
I don't know what would be more damaging to CC, taking away his post count or the ability to post polls!!!Quote:

hello, Birdgirl :) ... I am just fine, and hope you are, too ... (I thanked my teacher ;), like the ad says) ... :D
I don't post on forums that have no post count, it's too confusing to figure out who is just some random newb and who the regulars are. If I am new I want others to know it so they are more understanding if I post something stupid.
Ever since Xbox.com removed the post count on their forums I stopped posting, they now have some retarded system where I guess the mods decide who gets more reps, but I was a fucking Xbox Live beta tester and I never got anything higher than 1, while people that had no clue what they were talking about had a higher rep. Maybe I am just a little bitter that they took away my orange B, (if you were an Xbox Live beta tester you know what I'm talking about ;)), but I could have lived without that, but taking away the post count didn't help anything at all as some people thought it would.
Keep it!
I agree, you'd be surprised how much removing a post count kills the community. It was done at the SteamPoweredForums, it's dead there in comparison to how lively it used to be.
I say we keep it.
Post count is really useful in cultivation land.. sets the nOObs apart from the nerds, and gives a hint as to whose advice you should listen to (not that infrequent posters don't sometimes waltz in here with a fucking degree in horticulture... like one of them recently did.. but... :D).
Doesn't really matter to me.

WHOOOOOAHHHHH!!! LOOK AT ALL THAT SPACE I CAN BARELY SEE ANYTHING ELSE ON THE SCREEN.
i dont really care one way or the other, but if you want to get rid of it i think you need a better reason than that
If we are discussing taking up space, how about obscenely large siggys? MUCH worse than the 5 digits MAX of post count...
obviously those with a high number of posts are going to have a personal bias against it. I don't care for post counts. It is not a reliable indicator of a person's credibility. It is often an indication of how much time someone spends on their ass, and an indicator of how eager they are to rally up their count with useless posts. Maybe there should be a system in which the counts are directly related to rep points. i.e. it wouldn't count as a numbered post unless others approved it as a meaningful posts. Either way, I will only attempt to deliver concise, meaningful posts in areas in which I feel I have knowledge, and to cram maximum meaning into the fewest number of posts.
boy, can I ever agree with you on that over-sized signature crap ... it gets tiring to sift thru a half-page of monstrous-sized fonts, just to get to the next posting ... evidently a case of 'over-inflated sense of personal importance' ... bottom line: frequently, people annoy the shit outta me :DQuote:

Im proud to say that I made my sig smaller haha
I say keep it, merely for the enjoyment of people celebrating their 420th post....that's the only landmark I care about.
I'd say scrap the join date, if anything...
my thoughts are people with over 10000 posts need to put down the keyboard for a while
"cannabis.com, its not just a message board, its a way of life"
Bless you.Quote:
