Message: I have an idea about the web-site, how about fucking off with all
the bull shit. It's called above the influence, but all I really see is
"above the weed". Stop attacking people who use cannabis as if we're some
type of different human species, of course there's people who abuse
cannabis, just like people who abuse prescription drugs and food and other
things, a lot of things are abused but we can't help that. There is always
two sides to a story. There are responsible users also and marijuana surely
doesn't have the worse outcome of illegal drug abuse. Start making
commercials about other drugs and make it above the WHOLE influence, not 1/8
of the influence you fuckin' weed bashers.

Although no one is going to be seeing this conversation making it pointless.. I would like to say just for the record that marijuana is NOT more potent than it was a decade ago. I'm sorry but if some one actually needs treatment for marijuana then something must be seriously already wrong with that persons brain. I know over 100+ marijuana users and none of them need treatment to stop smoking. They just stop, including me. It's not as highly addictive as other drugs such as crack cocaine, meth and ecstasy to name a few. Those drugs with short lived highs leaving them unsatisfied coming back for more to satisfy them selves again eventually leading to addiction. Many claims marijuana to be stronger than it was a decade ago because before then most marijuana was grown outdoors, since the government decided to take matters into their own hands and spray crops with poisonous chemicals and go out and burn thousands of fields people decided to move their grows indoors where it was more controlled thus eliminating any chance of pollen traveling thousands of miles allowing the discovery of the "sesimillia technique" which basically brings out the full potential of the potency of the Cannabis plant.

It's not like this was not already going on, but being forced to bring growth indoors eliminated all outside influences to degrade the trichomes containing THC and many other intoxicating cannabinoids and definitely allowed easier monitoring to eliminate any pollen from flying by killing the males. As more and more people started moving their grows indoors the more and more "sensimilla" bud became familiar and available, eventually just as easy to get as any marijuana with seeds. There is no such thing as STRONGER marijuana, the THC levels of Cannabis has never exceeded the limit of 15-25% THC and even so it may have only increased by a small percentage and that still isn't 1/4 close to the LD50 of marijuana. The only thing I can say is this "stronger" marijuana is meant for experienced smokers, and I don't believe it's for novice users..but I can't help it if you guys are making these younger kids curious with all the strange commercials about "stoner's in the mist" and all this stuff that totally misrepresent marijuana users, especially the responsible ones. People abuse prescription drugs too and those are LEGAL. I know what you're thinking, you'd need a prescription for those pills. But with our brain washed America, most of the adults are the ones with the pills. The kids are the ones that go in the medicine cabinets and find them. You think that simple pressing down and twisting child proof cap is actually stopping them from getting into those bottles? They aren't retarded. They can read instructions. The same kids are getting alcohol out of the refrigerator and coolers of their alcoholic parents every day. You guys need to expose the truth on things that are actually more dangerous. You can die from alcohol poisoning. Not to mention alcohol intoxication depends on your weight and size, unlike marijuana which I suppose the kids you are aiming your message to weighs nothing more than 90-150 lbs avg. Imagine if they accidentally consumed too much liquor, not everyone knows you can die from alcohol poisoning not to mention alcoholics act fucking stupid under the influence. At least I can still maintain my composure and keep things logical when I'm consuming marijuana. Why don't you expose this on commercials rather than on your web-site which requires the internet that not everyone has access to.

There were only a few Cannabis strains to begin with. Any one with common sense will know that all the strains that exist today is the result of the few original strains being cross bred time and time again eventually creating thousands of new varieties as these crosses are bred. What's the point I'm trying to make? That there wasn't any spectacular boom that caused an explosion in potency. Everything we have today still has roots to the marijuana that was consumed back in the 1960's-70's basically back to the beginning of time. But wait, that's the same marijuana that you claimed our parents to have harmless fun from isn't it?....First they feed us reefer madness and claimed it made you crazy now a decade later you claim that stuff was going around during the time of reefer madness was harmless fun? I don't mean to knock you guys but honestly you guys might as be real with me and real with your selves. The more you lie to America, specifically the teens the more they are going to fail to believe anything you say and that will cause the weaker minded ones to believe you are just lying about any other substance. Once they try marijuana and realize 99.9% of the things you guys say aren't true they are going to think the same about every thing else. Just don't bring any campaigns to my city because if I attend any of them they are going to have to throw me out, especially if they give the chance for anyone to ask questions, I will not allow any crowd that I am in to be lied to. I will interrupt the b.s. and tell them the truth if I have to. You should find some way to get on television, through a public access channel or something, and tell them how you feel! People have to know that smoking marijuana is not as hazardous to your health as they make it out to be! Do something you fuckin' geniuses!

Hello there. I was just writing in because of concern over the accuracy of one of your more frequent claims. I hear your group, and many similar ones, justifying the stance that marijuana is particularily dangerous because "more teens go into marijuana rehab than any other drug". That's all well and dandy, but if you did any objective research you'd be aware (if your not already and ignoring this fact) that the majority of kids sent into rehab for pot do so under coercion of parental or judicial authorities.
You can't very well claim its addictive or destructive potential based on this fact, when the "rehabilitation" is due to mandated action, not people who know they have an "addiction" they want cured.

I would also like to take issue with your (mis)representation of stoners as people who sit on a couch for hours staring at the wall or television in some zombified state. My stoner friends and I have as much ambition as anybody, and I particularily love reading novels (The Wheel Of Time, Shogun, Lord Of the Rings, etc). I'm currently in the process of attaining my BA, my best friend who's blazed since she was 12 just finished her business degree at the age of 21, while my other best friend is in his third year of Sciences majoring in phyisics and biology. Every time I smoke weed I want to work-out, or go for a run, walk the dog, get excited about a book I want to read and read it. If marijuana MAKES people lazy, I've yet to see it. Is it not so plausible that people who ARE lazy and sit around all day would be drawn to weed for something to do?

Have you researched the many studies that show marijuana use alone has a significantly lower rate of cancer, and that cannabinoids found in pot aggresively and selectively destroy cancer cells.

Have you considered that even if marijuana is "twice as potent than 10 years ago", it's still one of the least toxic substances in the world and still not even close to capable of causing toxicity to the piont of overdose, organ damage, or even somewhat acute detriments of health. Perhapse if you included facts like these in your webpages, we wouldn't all believe your organization is incredibly biased and cherry-picks its facts.

Myself, I've smoked weed for 3 years now. The only consequence of my use thus far has been relief from the constant physical pain I live in, and a significantly helpful means of dealing with stress when it becomes too much. Before smoking weed I suffered from constant panic attackes, twice resulting in hospitalization, and since starting the herb I've never had anything like that again, and my chronic anxiety is gone. I also can say with 100% honesty that my grades went from C's to A's and B's after I started smoking pot. Not because it enhanced my mental capacity, but because it made me a significantly more relaxed and peaceful person, calm of mind; and invariably led to my initial interests and conversion to buddhism, where I learned how to deal with the many harsh sufferings in my life.

Do any of these issues concern you? Are they justifiable? Do my questions warrant a response, or am I merely a "dopefeind" not worthy of your consideration? If you could actually send me a response, I would be most impressed and grateful for you taking the time.

I really didn't think the reply was automated because last time I sent them a message I didn't get any reply at all so I tried completely lashing out at them and I got that message they sent me lol. I guess with the words I used their letter would have been a little more harsh if some actually replied to it..I dunno if they replied with a message on the same subject as me then I'm guessing some one at ATI saw it.

What gets me is...why is there such a push to be above the influence? Why is it imperative to never try marijuana or even other drugs? When did curiousity become a negative thing?

At least in my opinion...I believe it's healthy to be curious in life, and if you want to see what the deal is about something, better off trying it yourself, rather than standing in the middle while 2 sides try to pull you left or right.

If I went through life never trying weed or other drugs or getting wasted beyond recognition a few times, or partying recklessly, I know for a fact I would eventually regret it...I think getting high and experimenting are part of life [at least for some part of your life], and are similar to other experiences in which one might ponder. But since the label 'drugs' is applied...it's considered bad to be curious?

I would question myself and my live if I DIDN'T live it up and experience what I have experienced with weed, alcohol, pre-marital sex, and drugs...I would feel as if I missed out on a big part of living to the fullest. But, that's just me.

I think you forgot something. The reason why teens are in rehab is because the court has ordered them to get treatment. In other words, they never necessarily needed treatment. Also, I think it would have been a good idea to state how the "War on Drugs" doesn't actually exist, and this phony war on drugs actually hurts innocent people a great deal. Good job, though. Except one more thing... swearing probably wasn't the best idea. What you want them to do is listen, not become defensive, and irritated.

But good job! Only thing is, they won't listen.

Simple things we use everyday are very dangerous - water and potatoes for example.

Interestingly, that's how most people die when on ecstacy - water poisoning.

trying to get them to change is pointless. they have heard the truth and they still have the same agenda. i sent them a similar email about 2 or 3 years ago and it was the same shit. starting something like it to spread the truth around would be the best way to combat what they say. you could call it above the lies
