Ok well I got this idea from juggalo and I feel it is sort of a religous/moral question... How do you guys feel about executing people who are retarded....
Personally I feel that if someone commits a crime worthy of execution be they mentally retarded or not they should be killed... the fact that someone is retarded doesn't change the fact that they killed someone... you do the crime you do the time/execution weither you be retarded or not.
Well psychologists say. That mentally retarded people do knowwhat the hell is happening. I say just put them in some sort of insitution. My friends aunt has... I am going to butcher this spelling. god I am not going to attempt it. Its a common sydrome. Skitos?? Anyway she constantly calls the cops saying that her neighbors are cutting off the heads of people and that their are vampires hiding in her attic. She will call my friends parents up saying "You killed mom, "I hope you're happy" even though their mother is still alive and well. So ya they dont know what the hell is happening
If the mentally retarded person is stable enough to take care of themselves,and doesn't go around stabbing people, i think they should live.

There are alot of mentally retarded people in institutions, their family don't visit, they just keep paying room and board. If they don't the tax payers do.
Theres no real use for these people. Their either in an almost coma like state, are so medicated they couldn't respond if they wanted to, or are on the streets attacking people because they can't pay for their own medication. Better off dead i say.
But thats just me.

My Mother needs help dressing and doing normal everyday things, she can't cook or work or be productive - Does she need to be exterminated now that she's fulfilled her usefulness?
Since reading this thread initially it has played on my mind so much so that I feel the need to post some of my thoughts on the matter.
As a civilised and compassionate society how can we not see that the strong must protect the weak?
Are people to be treated as instruments of gain rather than as free and responsible persons?

Our society is becoming one of strangers, obsessed with personal rights and severing the ties of duty, compassion, and love to the weak and unwanted.
It has become a culture which favours those who can assert themselves, their power and rights etc. which in some cases leaves an inhospitable, even dangerous, place for those too weak to compete effectively in this contest of rights---the young, the elderly, the dying, the handicapped.
The widespread availability of prenatal diagnosis has altered the way people consider mentally handicapped people. The birth of a child with a chromosomal anomaly is now widely considered as a medical error and in certain countries, doctors face lawsuits because they failed to diagnose the "condition" in utero. People now regard persons with a handicap as someone who should not be there. In some cases the person themselves know that had their condition been diagnosed in utero, they would not have been allowed to be born. They have become true survivors of the search and destroy missions performed in our hospitals.
We have a neighbouring family here whoâ??s daughter was born with Downâ??s syndrome. At the time of her birth there was much anguish and sorrow surrounding her condition. People didnâ??t congratulate them, they didnâ??t know how. Yes this child has brought immeasureable joy to them, us and everyone sheâ??s touched. Sheâ??ll never hold down a job or live what we would consider a â??normal lifeâ?? but holy shit can she love. It absolutely bursts out of her. Her mother worries about her future though, who will protect and love her after theyâ??ve gone?
A few years ago a woman drove off the pier in a Dublin coastal town with her son in the passenger seat. He was a Downâ??sSyndrome child and she had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Who will protect and love him after Iâ??ve gone? Was probably her question too.

Schizophrenia, by the way is a mental illness, Not mental retardation. There is a difference. I know a lovely young woman with Down's syndrome. She works bagging groceries at the local market. She is as delightful as any 4 year old. When a child in the store is crying and carrying on it upsets her so badly she has to be "taken for a walk". A friend of mine that works there explained that she had been mistreated badly at a daycare center for mentally handicapped children. She tends to want to attack whomever is with the child that is crying. She's very lucky, she has a whole community that looks after her. As for being useless, there's group of young men (15-27 yrs old) that do nothing but get high and play with their skateboards in the bank parking lot while living off of parents or girlfriends on relief. This young woman contributes a lot more to the community than they do and is much better liked. So anyway, that's my 2 cents, Kuu

If mentally handicapped people are "useless to society" then so are those with physical handicaps including obesity, missing limbs, the deaf and blind, people suffering from terminal illness, the elderly, children between the ages of 1 and 5, George Bush (both of them), jews, gypsies, the poor...hmm this is starting to sound fimiliar.
Anyways you say its the tax payers who end up paying for these people and they should be killed? It does cost money for lethal injection you know. Though I suppose you think we should just throw them all into camps for now until theres room in the gas chamber for them huh?
OR We could stop wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on these wars on drugs and terrorism and put that money instead into medical care and research and education. This way we wouldn't have to kill anybody.
By the way many mentally challenged people are fully functional members of society and likely contribute just as much if not more than me and you. If you think about it most people never really "contribute" anything do they?

A five year old is different from a grow adult with teh mentality of a 5 year old.. I say that if you kill someone you should be killed... Okay French,.. which is it? The mentally handicapped or the mentally ill you are speaking of. Being "slow" or "retarded" is a completely differant thing than being mentally ill. A physcopath is not the same as a person born with down's syndrome for example. If someone with the IQ of a 5 year old commits a crime it is because they were not being properly looked after. A sociopath on the other hand can mask their mental illness and has no remorse.
Read Of Mice and Men, its really a good book. I especially liked how my teacher read it to the class since I went in stoned everday.

ok, if u do a crime u should get punished, it doesnt matter who u r or what circumstances ( disability, mental illnis ) a person with down syndrome shouldnt b sent free if that person with down syndrome killed someone else. u can argue that they have no understanding, but they r a crimanal if they did the crime.
and btw, say for ex. a mentally challenged person is givin a qaurter of weed by sumone he knows. that person ditched the quarter b/c cops were searching him. the cops then search the person whos mentally challenged. they find the quarter. and ur gonna argue that he had clue what was going on but here he is breaking the law by holding that quarter. no matter what circumstances, he did a crime, and therefore should b punished.
