As you get older do you find yourself playing more or less video games?
I've met a number of gamers on forums that have seemingly lost interest in gaming as they got older and older. I find it strange because I've had a reverse feeling..
I know in my childhood I didn't have very many games. My parents bought me a NES and a few games here and there, but over the years as I'd build up any NES game collection, they'd get financial trouble and need to pawn my NES off. (which usually meant I had to wait for them to get me a new one later) I had a NES as my only gaming system from age 7 to age 15. At 15 I finally talked my mom into getting me a SNES for my birthday at a used gaming/music store(the N64 was already out) This was only a year before I'd start working and immediately bought a N64.
So as a child I played very little amounts of games even though I loved them. It wasn't till I started making my own money that my gaming started taking off and became a primary pasttime. My current height of gaming came this last generation. I owned all 4 of the this last gen consoles (PS2, Xbox, GCN, Dreamcast) And put in many thousands of hours of gaming in. (Phantasy Star Online alone has 3200+hours of game time invested in it)
My like of playing games is in no way diminished either. I look ahead now with my 26th birthday just a month and a half away and I see myself being a major gamer till the day I die. I just hope I never become that old person that no longer games because gaming changed so much I couldn't keep up with the times..like older people and Records/Cassettes, or like my mother and VHS tapes..she still buys them and prefers them... O_o

more actually... i just move to more 'advanced' games that take more and more work (i.e. going from games that can be beat in a day or two easily, to games that would take a week or so, to games that i've put in countless damn hours on [battel field 2 modern combat, battle field 2 etc] and up to games like ffxi [unbeatable, there is no ending])

Shit video games was what I did all weekend. Invite the neighbors over and play all fucking day. But I don't really play as much now, a lot of games fucking suck now, and they are expensive.

When I was younger, I was hooked to video games. Then I guess when I turned 21, my interest in video games started declining.
To this day I still enjoy them, I'd play if it was around. Otherwise I couldn't care less. I'm just not as interested as I once was, I have no idea why.

i find that when im not in school (like spring break, etc) im either partying, with my girlfriend, or playing video games.
and now that video games are getting so advanced, i play them so much more. the type of gaming experience you get now is what i used to want as a kid. i wanted to break building and use your surroundings and all this stuff. its getting to that point finally so now i can look forward to certain titles.

As a stoner of almost 5 years now, I can safely say that, although sesh'n'gaming is very fun, I never do it anywhere else but at friends' houses.
I don't have the time, patience or attention span to own my own gaming system, nor am I willing to fork out that much money for over-glorified binary; I'd rather spend my money on weed, smokes, alcohol, food, drugs etc.
That, and the amount of time spent at home and awake caps off at about 10 hours a week. The rest of the time I'm out, working, at school, in the gym, outside etc. I really don't have time.

Oh, and as a sidenote, I used to play a lot of videogames in my day, but have now outgrown them.
That, and I've realized that games just aren't as good anymore. Yeah, they have better sound and graphics, more complex and intricate controls etc., but therein lies the problem for me: I think that video games have gained an edge in technological development, but have sacrificed the fun of gaming in return.
What happened to the days where we could play Mario Bros 1-3, Duck Hunt, Metroid Prime etc. for hours on end? I can't even play a video game for two hours anymore, because it feels to me that they're trying to imitate "real life" so completely that they've forgotten that video games are just that--VIDEO GAMES
You shouldn't sacrifice your real life for a fabricated one.

I'm definitely playing less video games than I did, but I don't know if that's because of age or some other reason.

i see your point cannabisativism, but remember, if you go into something with an open mind, theirs very little chace it will be boring!
(yes im an insane optimist)
i hated video games (i also hated pot, i was a total straight edge), i smoked a joint with my friend cause i wanted to know what it was like, now im a total stoner (and lifes only getting better, im happy all the time, my grades are going up, i love WEED)
and video games a learned to seriously love.
the point is, if i just focused on the stuff i didnt like about pot (what its done to my brother, which i now blame on him being damn lazy) i would never have found it, and i would be a very depressed and boring person now.
if you try playing them with a blank slate, no expectations, and just lay back and enjoy the movement of the game, the stuff they put in to give you interest, you will be amazed at how much you could love it!

Ive found myself slowly starting to play video games less and less over the summer cause there is always something else to do. Besides some of the games they are coming out with are directed at children. The last good game that came out for the 360 was Dirt and im possotive halo 3 will be a flop because its the people who play it online that ruin it. If one more little 12 yr old punk calls me a N***a or anything like that in that game im going to throw the game into the street and run it over.

now that im older i can appreciate what goes into a game and the lack of stuff in bad games. so i only play a few games and only buy top quality games. sometimes i buy games that are reduced. but i normanly beat in and sell em. i have a 360 for the legendary halo 3 and gta 4 and i will buy a ps3 just to play mgs4. probably will buy heavenly sword and assasins creed eventually. not sure of any other decent epic games that are coming out soon.
i dont have the time i used to anymore really. working, the gym, climbing, snowbaordin going out, working on my car or bike, runnin people around. usually though on a sunday afternoon ill have a decent session after the pub.
i still enjoy games, but i like being around people. plus i get board at kicking the ass out of games. people on xbox live
i pwn halo 2
