I wish I had brought a camera. I wasn't expecting him to shake all several hundred of our crew whom were on the flight deck for his speech on live TV.
The jet with my name on the landing gear door, just happened to be the only jet on the ship, it was also in the background (the nose barrel) of his speech. I was an enlisted plane captain, at that time. Navy, plane captains or crew cheifs as the Air Force, calls them, take resposability for the aircraft aboard the ship, during start up and recovery operations.
