ok another question....

i've been told that my plant is small for its age.....but i see all these people talking about (in some other threads this is what i've seen) "how big you want to grow your plant (reffering to how long it takes.) ok my question is...theoreticly can you just leave it on 24 hour light until it gets as big as you want and then flower? or will it just kill it after a certain point or just start flowering anyways? just curious....cuz i have all the patients in the world and i want the max yeild i can get from this plant (not expecting even an ounce or two at this point). thanx for any answers.....and before someone tells me to read..i do read...like everyday i study up and read for an hour or two on growing websites.....i just want to make this clear with myself. thanx again

I reckon,that you could leave the light on for 24 hours,but after awhile,the plant may start experiencing stress because of not gittin any rest..the basic rule of thumb-is 2 months veg..then flower. However,some growers veg for 3 months,because they are trying to establish a good mother,or for breeding purposes,or simply because of the increased yield and potency,that comes from a more mature plant.

If you wanted,you could force clones into flower-as soon as 2-3 weeks of vegging. So..if your plant,is a female,then what you could do,is to take clones from her,veg them for 3-6 weeks and then put em to flower. That way,you'll know in advance,that your plants are all female,and you won't waste any time or resources on male plants.

Keep on reading,basic knowledge goes a long ways-to success..once ya git the basics down pat,you can start thinking about more of the complicated stuff-like breeding for potency,yield and reliability.

I would just like to add that a 24/0 light schedule can be used through-out the veg cycle, but many I know say that you will only gain (in plant growth) a small amount more than you would using an 18/6 light schedule.

In the end it seems to me that an 18/6 light schedule is better, because you are not losing hardly any growth, your plant gets some down time, and every four days you save an entire days worth of electricity and light usage.

Was doing some reading in a garden book.They are statting that 18 hrs of light the best for growing as allows the plant durring the no light cycle to put energy into growing the roots. Bigger root system more the plant can support the topp plant and bigger storage area for when you go to the flowering stage. I am new to this and have found the size of the room a bigger facter in the hieght of the plant therefor the time in growth. Also from what I read the higher the plant more energy the plant has to use to bring the food to all parts of the plant and less food for the flowering.

cannabis can live for up too 20 years under 24 hours light then it will autoflower, and you wont do it for that long anyways

llamaman666 - Are you using the 20 year mark just as an example, or are you suggesting that at twenty years old cannabis WILL autoflower?

I am sure that you were just using 20 as an example, but want to make sure. There are clones still in production from the 70's. They do not autoflower.

I heard about this plant on the side of the highway.... the car lights hitting it everynight prevented this little bugger from flowering... today the plant is over 300 feet tall !!!!!!!!

Student, no, that is not an example, around that mark the small portion of ruderalis genes will show up in every plant. ALl cannabis plants have some ruderalis as a reccesive gene, but it comes up after that time.

o, and about the clones, they are several generations deep allready so it wont do it because the actuall plant isntthat old.

Is a clone, and in this case I reffer to a cutting, not part of and as old as the rest of the plant? It has just been turned into its own being, but still has the exact dna make-up and age as the original specimen.

when the rooting hormone is produced it also tips another hormone that is like a clock, it will vary plant to plant as in all traits, but it is going, so it is connected to rooting hormone, auxin?, not the original mothers birth.
