Hell Im smokin some skunk here and I need some assistance
Basically I am investing into a hps light, my rooms average size, and I sleep in here, its my bedroom....I got a ac vent, fan, but my room door has to stay shut due to a cat...can it be done?
I've grew once with cfl's, but now Im growing for medicinal purposes, now its VERY important to have quality medicine.
Anyone lend advice to a medicinal user/ future grower I'd sure appreicate it
The simplest way to grow in your bedroom and not have to deal with a lot of BS is to invest about $250 into a grow tent. The Homebox XL is a GREAT product; there's a couple threads about it in here, and the user dusto2k3 is running one, if you can find his logs.
For about $1000 you can get the tent, a NICE light or a couple average ones, a reflector, an extraction fan, and even a carbon scrubber. The footprint is 4x4 and has 6 feet of headroom.
If you don't have a full room or closet to dedicate to a grow, this is the way to do it.

I have a closet, I planned on hanging my hps light off the bar that runs horizontal, so the grow I reckon is in the closet, just no door, but mylar could solve that, and possibly keep the heat over "there"
My rooms like 8 feet high, 17 feet wide...anyone with advice?

Im an experienced person myself, but hps heat is a problem, lookin for input.
MEh, I'm old for canncom but young compared to the REAL growing oldtimers... 30ish...
Mylar is not as easy to work with as panda film and lets light through. Panda is what you want to use for a 'door'.
But keeping heat 'over there' is not your goal... you want your PLANTS to be comfortable, not yourself.
I'm not kidding, I literally sleep downstairs on the sofa in my own home when it gets into the upper 90s outside, so that I can dedicate all my a/c power to making the girls happy. One must suffer for one's art :D
Let me tell you it sucks living in the same room you grow in! But it can be done, and I would do it again if necessary.
First off you got the buzzing sound of the ballast (mine was 1000w) it is the most annoying sound in the world durring your veg cycle, you try to set the timers on/off at reasonable times. But you try to sleep in on your day off, after a night of heavy drinkin, and you have to wake up to an annoying buzzing sound!
Then theres heat issues. I was living in the redwoods so the temp outside was always above 32f, and below 75f year round. My room with the light on was anywhere from 70-85f, so if you live in a warmer climate this could pose as a huge problem around summer.
And the biggest problem is security!!! When your trying to grow pot in a small ass room, it gets really hard to keep people from finding out. Close friends family, you dont have to worry about much about. But people that come over for this, that, whatever, people you dont know too well, they can smell it, or notice an eerie light shine from under the crack of the door (HPS, and MH have a distinct color of light), or hear the ballast buzzing and fans, this can create a severe security risk.
All the problems addressed, the knowlege of indoor gardening, being able to frequently admire the beautiful plants you grew, smoking it up, and the fresh oxygen in the air, make it all worth while in the end I think.
im growing in my closet with no door i hung the light on the clothes bar on chains so i can ajust height and when it gets hot in there middle of the day i open the blanket and move the fan to blow a/c in kinda ghetto but i can put big holes in wall or ceiling so the supplys for my grow was a fan a 2 of each bulb ballast and nutes whitle walls and its doing great i know it could be better but IT WORKS!
back when i was a young lad i used to grow em sideways in my fishtank canopy along a fluro tube.. you can do grow anywhere u just have to be creative.. :thumbsup:
Cut a hole in the ceiling and vent in the attic if you can, that should help with heat and smell in the room.
Save the cut-out and the repair will be easy.
just get some of that cardboard stuff that they use on the back of dressers, and nail that up as a door, works great, I dont know if thats what that mylar stuff was, i have no idea what that is, so maybe this sounds really dumb. and for heat and that do what dizzy said if you can. other then that sounds like you have everything ready to go:jointsmile:
