if not, i've heard nothing but love for the nl99 and it's what i'd like to grow myself if i can't get the clones i want; i've heard it tends toward the sativa in the high department
I am also a fan of NL99, but I don't know how it would do outdoors - it's very easy to grow, and will NOT hermie on you, I've never seen anything as stable as NL99, BUT, I have no reference as to how it holds up against outdoor pests and conditions - it was specifically developed for indoor growing - 50-65 day flowering, grows to about 30"-36" tall - I think there would be better choices for an outdoor plant, but that would be outside my area of knowledge :smokin:
Frank, the only thing that tree is missing is some lights and ornaments.
What's the flavor like on that one? Does the c99 influence come through in taste/aroma?
that's a NL99 clone I gave to my neighbor, Custom39 - it's about 36" tall, yielded over 9 ounces of dried, cured bud, if I remember right (yield was boosted greatly by Custom39's brainstorm of placing the pots on a 30-degree angle, and rotating them daily) - yeah, the Cinderella99 influence is very prominent - almost no odor, but if crushed, smells like fresh lemons, mild,fresh-tasting flavor - I harvested mine at about 10% amber trichs, and it was a very spacey, no-anxiety energetic high - great stuff - helps with pain, and for depression, it is especially helpful - :jointsmile:
Couple things: It's leaves look very sativa,but the buds are tight. The buzz is sativa,up, trippy , visual....no paranoia, and I harvested at day 50! (I wanted no couchlock or 'chill' effect)
I got one pheno that smelled of pineapple (which I cloned the hell out of) and another that yielded twice as much as the others , including Pineapple Girl (again, cloned that one too).
Will the pineapple smell hold up? We'll see , curing it now, we'll know in a month.
Does it grow well outside ? I'll know in October. LOL
I live in California and I have 3 NL X C99 plants coming along great in the outdoors and in pots. They may have been bred specifically for indoors, but they love the sun. So far so good...they are in their 3rd week.

i'm getting a bubba kush clone which my fellow tells me is fantastic so i wanted a sativa-ish mother to compliment it and i think this might be it
i may also be able to get a trainwreck clone: can anyone compare trainwreck to nl99? or is trainwreck hard to grow or very tall?
anyway, i think the nl99 high would be a nice strain when i've got the kush stone; kush for night, nl99 for day; sounds great to me
thoughts?
btw: it's a cab grow in a garage; i am in socal, am a med grower (thus 2 mothers, 2 veg, 2 flowering (under 250w hps) is my plan, organic soil for simplicity to start

getting different phenos kinda surprises me - that's one thing that always amazed me about the Joey Weed NL99, it's 'stability' - of the 50 seeds we grew out, ALL were 100% identical to each other, we never had that happen before - they grew from seed to harvest, and if not for numbering the pots, we wouldn't have known one from another - regardless, I'm sure you were happy with the results - if you like a very easy-growing, fast-finishing plant that gives a good yield of 'up' smoke, excellent taste, smoothness, and doesn't stink up the house, this bud's for you :thumbsup::jointsmile:Quote:

Frank, at glance, they all looked similar, but one had a pineapple smell in flower, all the others smelled that citrus pine smell. And one produced much more bud .
To look at them in veg, yes, you would think they were clones. Yes, I am VERY happy with the results . I have no problems with JW at all in fact I am a fan.and am going to try some of his other stock, I just havent made up my mind as to what.
Is there a walk in seedbank that carries his strains in Canada?

if you want some couchlock, I would grow it out to 9 weeks, I specificly <sp?> did NOT want any couch lock, so I went the 50 days, I may run 57 this time to see any difference.
yeah, like Lido said, growing out till the trichomes turn more amber should do the trick, if you prefer a body-stone ... I prefer a heady, active high, so I harvested with about 10% amber ... it sure is a great plant for a beginner, too ... VERY forgiving, not a big nutrient hog, plus doesn't stink up the house ... in reference to that photo I took of Custom39's plant, I sent it to Brad at Hemp Depot, just for shits and giggles ... he replied with an e-mail for permission to use it on the NL99 webpage, and gave credit to my friend, Custom39, for growing it ... quite the compliment, indeed :thumbsup:

I'm sad that c99 is sold out, anyone have some thoughts to share as far as picking up the BlueberryxC99. It says it has the same C99 high minus the paranoia, however I like the idea of growing a pure sativa... hmm i wonder how soon til they restock
in the past, when I have seen a favorite strain sold out, it was listed again, after a short time ... I suppose it depends on timing, 'luck of the draw' ... :smokin:
If I ever grow indoors im getting some joey weed strains. Its pretty much too late for outdoors now and I have enough of other strains to work with as it is. Thanks for everyones input:rastasmoke:
Its already been a couple weeks :( Like to put them under the sun for a while to veg... but c99 came from no where and is now all I can think about. No thought about a BB cross?

Hello everyone. I've grown out a few NL99's and just wanted to chime in
It's my favourite strain, and for a number of reasons, but it does have its (often ignored) down sides.
The wonderful fruity smell you get while growing doesn't stick around after a cure. The taste however, does.
The strain is not as "up" as a lot of people would believe, likely by influence of the C99 in its title. It's one of the hardest knock out strains I've smoked in my life, especially near the end of the high. C99 is not a pure sativa, and NL is far from it. Even skunk #1 is uppier and more psychological (in my experience).
They are fairly uniform in general, but I grew out 4 most recently, and none were identical, I could tell them apart - ie: leaf profiles, height, smell (they all smelled a little different. The same thing happened my first time as well.
Now, onto the good side:
It's potent as hell. Nothing more I need to elaborate on that really.
It matures fast and is extremely easy to grow. I grew it on my first grow, and it was easier than growing grass (the real kind) :) - That was inside a PC too.. take a look if you want: International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - NL x C99 Computer Case Grow .
There is no odor at all.. not even low.. but none. Fantastic for stealth purposes. It matures quickly as well.
All in all, good stuff, but approach it with an objective nature that some Joey Weed fans may be missing (eg: I think Image Reaper/Road Cam/Other psuedonym here, is affiliated with them, his picture is the one used in the breeder description, and he's plugged it on every pot site I've come across on the internet). Not to say that in an offensive way.. just keep objective people. Later.

just for the record, again, I have posted this same explanation before ... I, (and also Freewheelinfrank, and Custom39) are in NO way connected with Joey Weed, or, Hemp Depot ... we are simply very happy with the seeds we've grown out from Joey Weed ... my friend, Custom39, came up with the idea of putting his pots on a 30-degree angle, it boosted bud formation on the lower branches, and produced that big-yielding NL99, that you saw in that photo ... I was so impressed with his results, I mailed that photo to Hemp Depot ... I got an e-mail response from 'Brad', asking for permission to post it on his Joey Weed NL99 page ... and, that explains that ... also, if you got a 'knockout' stone, rather than a spacey head-high, my guess is you matured to many amber trichomes ... harvesting with about 10%-15% amber, would have given you a totally different effect ... my NL99s have been a high-flying spacey ride, and doesn't even make me sleepy, let alone 'knockout' (maybe pot affects us differently after smoking it for 40+ years :D) ... just goes to show what you can manipulate with the trichomes ... :smokin:
Alright, that makes sense. Like I said, I didn't mean that in an offensive way or anything, its just how it appeared to me previously.
PS: I harvested after 7 weeks flowering. Heres a pic from my grow log of the tric's before the cut (and a couple more for fun :). Perhaps we are indeed affected differently.
no worries :) ... your photo looks about like the way I harvested mine, I went 7 weeks the first grow, and 8 weeks the last couple of times, pretty much the same results ... I just crossed my NL99s with another C99-hybrid, and something 'special' may have happened ... I haven't harvested yet, but the offspring started frosting their leaves WAY early in flowering ... I don't know if it's the genetics, or just an example of 'hybrid vigor', but they are looking great right now ... harvest in a couple more weeks, probably, then I will know if it was successful ... it looks bitchin', but that don't mean nuthin', it's all about the smoke :D ... have a good one :thumbsup:
So, I just sent away for NL99, mostly because it's all I read about.

A11 is almost identical to C99. Slightly better yield, slightly less on the head high. Same smell, taste, and look.
well, from what I read, a11 is c99xgenius. So, I'm thinking about a11xc99. It would basically be c99xgeniusxc99. I can't decide between C99, C99xA11, or C99xBlueberry.
I chose the C99/Northern Lights hybrid, and was blown away by how easy it is to grow, the yield, the power, she's a beauty ... but, I also was interested in his C99/Apollo11 cross ... I chose the other, only because the C99/A11 synopsis suggested it has a bit of variance in it ... no big deal, but not right for what I was doing at the time ... a friend is currently growing out Joey's C99/Blueberry now, but it's pretty young right now ... good luck :thumbsup:

as far as I know, his Blueberry/C99 is still being vegged ... he got called out of state for a few days, and tried to put his plants into a state of 'suspended animation' until his return ... his experiment evidently didn't work out too well, and most of his plants died ... I think he only has a couple plants that survived ... I will get an update from him before long, he keeps me posted ... :smokin:

That's the kind of marijuana I smoked when I first started. It was all sativa, and at times caused severe anxiety, but I learned to recognise it as an effect, and began to enjoy it.
But, unless I buy mexican brick weed, it's hard for me to find nice sativas.
So I want a plant that produces an amazing sativa high, and c99 seems to be what I'm looking for. But, c99xa11 sounds like it would produce an amazing sativa high, but more mellow and giggly, without the anxiety.
Well, I guess it all boils down to if I want the anxiety or not. Because I would hate to harvest c99 and not be able to enjoy the high, but at the same time, if I wouldn't be effected by the anxiety, then it's definitely the plant I want.
So, now I'm deciding between a11xc99 and c99. Because, a11 appeals to me, but I figure a11xc99 would be more of what I'm looking for. Any advice or suggestions?
I also figure if I get the a11xc99, I'd hopefully get a c99 phenotype and a a11 phenotype, so I can sample both highs. It would be so much easier if I could try both buds before I order seeds...
Hey image reaper. Could you suggest to Joey that he adds Sensi Star F2 and a Kush F2 to his list?
C99 for sativa and Sensi Star and/or Kush for a nice indica. I would never need to go anywhere but Joey Weed !:rastasmoke:
After hours of trying to decide to get C99, C99xA11, or C99xBB, I decided on...
Northern Lights F2.
After reading all of the Joey Weed strain descriptions trying to pick something, I all of a sudden noticed things in NLs description that I fell in love with. Such as, "extremely fast growing and high yielding plant", "very potent with a delicious sativa-indica high", "buds have an extremely frosted resinous appearance", "Growth rate of up to 3 inches per day", "100% stable", "selectively inbred to bring out the best qualities of all the subvarieties".
Hopefully I'll enjoy it. Anyone have experience with Northern Lights?
I think you'll be VERY impressed with his Northern Lights (I read somewhere that he hybridized several varieties of NL, to get his mother plant) ... the Northern Lights influence was very noticeable in his C99 x NL that I grew out, lots of budding lower branches, good yielder for a short plant ... she should be a light-medium feeder, very stable and tolerant ... she will get 30"-36" indoors under a 400-watt sodium ... she shouldn't mind topping or taking cuttings ... my C99xNL cloned EASY, I suspect the straight NL will be similar ... I veg about 7-8 weeks, (I like 'em big & bushy :chainsaw:), and flower for another 7-8 weeks :hippy: ... that gets me about 10%-20% amber trichomes ... good growing ! :thumbsup:
