Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
I have a habit of grind up ALL my weed the second I get it. I hate gring up every time I want to smoke, so I just do it all at once.
A friend told me that you're not supposed to do that. When I asked why, he said he didn't know but just don't do it because you're not supposed to.
Is it just one of those ritual thingys? Or am I actually harming the bud by grinding it.
Another reason why I grind. Don't know if some of you guys go thru this, but I do. When I buy a 1/4 or an 1/8 some buds are stronger then others. Sometimes I'd get high as fuck off of two hits and them sometimes I'd need an entiore joint. I always smoke on an empty stomach (because I enjoy munching afterwards). I've found that when I grind it all up, it's more consistant. I know exactly how much I need to get waster or buzzed.
What are your thoughts?

i dont grind it all because i find it makes it more dry than i like it after a day or so, i cant say its any better or worse but what ever is easier i say go for it.

yeah i know what you mean of some being stronger. that could mean your getting ripped off though. and theres nothing wrong with grinding it up al at once different people do different things

Well I never buy so little weed that I end up smoking it all in one day so I probably wouldn't grind ALL my weed up. I'm guessing if you kept your ground up weed in a glass jar it really wouldn't be much of a problem since even when there's no crumbs left you could take your finger and rub against the surface of the jar and smoke the kief, unless you accidentally dropped the jar and all your crumbs went flying every where and you're sitting there trying to collect all the kief and shake that spilled rather than picking up the solid bud mass and tossing it back in the jar. Don't ignore that, I never thought my bud would spill either but one day...it did. Luckily for me I didn't have the habit of grinding it all up lol.

I don't grid it all up because the resin just piles up in the baggie and it's hard to get off. I just grind what I need.
-
Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
Only if your going to put it into one joint lol but theres no point because you may think it makes it easier for you but you waste quite a fair amount of the THC, also you tend to use more of your weed when its all grinded up.

You can scrape the crystals out once you have a decent buildup. Plop a pinch over a fresh bowl and you'll be as high as a kite... Or turn them into hash. I think there's a tutorial on here, right?

whatever, do what you want with your weed.
My opinion on the matter is if it is sensimelia, leave the nugs alone until you smoke them. If it is the cheap stuff, go ahead and break up all you want.

You've got a point. I'd only use a grinder if I was grinding up some shit that I planned on rolling into a shitload of J's (I went through a phase where I carried J's on me and that's all I smoked, haha). Your fingers work just fine ;) But there really isn't anything wrong with breaking up all your bud at once.

Personally, I don't see what the hassle is grinding it up every time you want to use it, lol.

This is basically my feelings on the matter. I don't think you will lose much if you do it your way, as long as you keep it in an airtight container...but when its seedless, I prefer to wait. If it has lots of seeds/stems, then I completely understand.
Hell, I actually have a small container of preground weed with me right now. LOL I was rolling up a bunch of jays for the week when I stopped and thought I'd roll a blunt for the video I'm making, so I put it all into a medicine container...I'll be making that vid soon I hope. Otherwise, it's gonna be ashes to ashes. :smokin:
Little bit of a tangent there, but you know...anyway, I don't see a problem pre-grinding it other than smoking it up faster just because it is so readily available. Everytime I do that, I end up rolling joint after joint (or smoking bowl after bowl) just becuase it's RIGHT THERE and ready! But, hey, that's not necessarily a PROBLEM. :D

I buy mine from a dispensory and it's in an air tight container. Looks like a pill bottle (same shape, same color) but it's got a flip cap that isn't child proof. Ive been thru two 1/8 containers and one 1/4 container and there is nothing in the bottle when I'm done.
Why do I grind it? Because I smoke on the sneak, it's gotta be fast fast FAST. if it's already ground up, I just pack my one hitter and I'm done.
-
Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
hell, it's understandable...
you should invest in a grinder with a Kief Collector, if you don't have on yet...
this will make sure you get the most out of your weed, and no thc is getting wasted.

Ritual or obsession?-It does not matter one bit. If I smoked with you and you had to grind your weed, you would not here a single complaint. I might even double-check your grindage to make sure it was shredded to your standards! You roll joints, I presume? Although it is a bit more time consuming to twist one up opposed to loading a bowl...Smoking before work with you might become a hassle if we had to tend to your marijuana obsessions, however I am sure that once we smoked it would have all been worth the wait.

id at least really small nugs to put at the bottom of bowls so the really fine ground up bud wont get sucked into ur piece
-
Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
It's not wrong man...different strokes for different folks. Personally i hate when i receive totally ground up weed and i never grind up all my stash, but a lot of my friends do. I like to have a bag of buds, and i always have a grinder on my person. However i see no problem with grinding it all up at once, because i can see why it would be more convenient for some.
I guess i just like grinding it up as i go along...and i smoke bongs a lot.

Who said THC escapes the buds? That's just plain stupid. THC is not fucking gas is it?
Grinding all your bud wont do anything. You'll get lots of crystalls left over though, so you can either collect them and smoke em on they're own and then smoke the weed, or just add the crystalls back in the bag with your groubd weed. Either way, grinding your weed all at once wont make any differnt at all to how good it is.
I dont grind it all when i get it though, i grind up half oz for the day and im set.

i ussally grind bout an 8th at a time and store in a kinda pill thing i got. did just have it in a baggie once then my mate put his finger threw it and it went alover the carpet, i cryed. u gotta watch that kief though cos it will stick it things and you lose so much goodness.

Yes, i agree completely that if any bud is left out it'll dry and start to degrade in potency.
But, we're not talking about leaving them out, i was under the assumption that everyone stores their bud in something airtight - and if the bud, or gound bud is stored in something air tight, in a cool dark place, nothing will degrade, and it wont matter how much surface area there is.
But you are right, if left out in the open, ground up bud would degrade faster than non ground up buds.

damnit he beat me too it. apparently reaper is a man of science as well. i would stand on the side of not grinding it until you need, because of the increased surface area leads to a faster degradation of the bud and like someone else said what happens if you spill it? accidents are a part of the game. i wouldn't want to have to try and scrap up a quarter of shake. but to each their own, i personally wouldn't do it.

Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
even if you keep it in a air tight jar when you open the jar you are letting more air into the jar containg the bud with increased surface area. so yes the bud will dry out sooner. an air tight jar is not the end all be all to keeping your weed fresh. to keep any new air from getting in the jar the only time you could open it is if you opened it in a vaccum. practical huh? lol

man if its grinded up id prolly be rolling baseball bats everytime...and that shit would drain my weedsack

I was waiting for that response, 'cause if someone else didn't say it..I was gonna.
I have a kief catcher on my grinder so I'm not worried about losing any of the fun stuff..most grinders have 'em so I assume your's does too?
I like to grind as much as I can at once. It's easier.
-

Meh, I usually do it at the time I need it.

Keeping it in an air tight jar is the best way to keep bud at it's optimum, and opening it for a few seconds will not make the slightest bit of a differnce.
Curing bud is the most important part of drying, not only does it give it it's weedy smell and taste by breaking down the chemicals like chlorophyl, it also activates more THC.
Now, to cure, the bud is placed in [normally] and air tight glass mason jar, and the top is opened for an hour or two everyday. Now, in this hour or two that it IS exposed nothing is lost. Infact, it gets more potent.
Think about it logically. Opening an air tight jar for a few seconds isnt going to make a differnce at all.
Weather the bud is ground up or not, it makes no differnce.
The bud wont degrade faster [unless it's in the open all the time]
So, in answer to the question, theres no reason you shuoldnt grind it all up at once, it makes no differnce - it's your choice.
And yes BFA, i have a couple of crystall catchers.

Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
what? its probably bad if u grind it up and put in a plastic bag, but if u put it in an air tight jar, who cares?
I grind my oz up everytime i buy one, then i put it all in my mason jar. Its just easier, and faster. I just grab my weed and pack it...i dont notice any THC being wasted.
AND you should see my coffee grinder cap, it collects soooooooooooooo much keif, some of you are missing out.

Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
i find weed gets stronger if you leave it. I can honestly say i've never smoked some weed and thought "oh man, this bud isn't as good as when i smoked it lst week" or whatever...
-
Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
I grind up all my weed at once, and put it in my inconspicuous little jar with cork topper. Never had a problem with my stuff losing potentancy or anything like that, and it saves so much time if I want to pack a bowl really quick or stuff a blunt asap.

Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
There are little pockets, at the end of the bud, which act as "well-closed" containers for the potency.
Go ahead and smash it with blades.

Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
Just cause you grind up weed doesnt me you have to smoke it in a blunt/joint anyway. I find it burns and creates better hits everytime. Anyway i need my weed grinded so it ready to be packed cause when im delivering pizza i have no time to break up a nug. I just grab my tin can, pop it open, pack a hit and then i take the hit........while im driving.
-
Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
I guess i just like having nugs, i don't grind mine up normally unless it's some schwagg or i am going to put it into a joint or blunt, but throwing into a bong especially i find that nugs don't seem to burn and waste as much, but not trying to argue with anyone, just saying i rather have a sticky nug then a bunch of shake.
-
Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
i grin g all of it up if it is "regs" because then i just open my bag pack a bowl and enjoy and it takes much less time but neverr mids or cryp
-
Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
this is what my crew does...
when we buy our weed we keep it in the nugs in a bag, and then when we're ready to smoke we bust up maybe a gram or so in nug and smoke it and then when we need to smoke more we just bust up another gram, to help keep track of all the weed we have, and also because its somewhat easier to store weed in nug form because its not gonna fly all over the place if you drop it or anything.

Is it wrong to grind up all of your weed at once?
When I have weed, I never grind or cut it with implements. I break it up with my fingers as needed, and keep the rest of the stash in ziplocks bottled up in airtight jars. Also, it's important to keep it in the dark to maintain potency.
