Does this bud look healthy? (effects description included)

Hey there, first post!

I got a 1/2oz bag of my usual Swazi Gold (sativa) from the same dealer I normally do.

I've only been smoking for about a month and has only smoked this strain, so I have no basis of comparison. This is a very common strain here in South Africa, it's considered average because it's naturally grown just across the border and goes for about the price of a six-pack for a bag.

This batch seems a bit weird though, there's a faint brownish tint to some of the buds and it feels quite dry, although it is sticky when he mulls it between his fingers. It has a strong pine-needleish smell.

Smoking one bong yesterday gave me some harsh smoke and a nuttyish aftertaste, but quite a warm, vibrating high.

Is the look any cause for concern?

Effects -

I have seen this strain on the menu of some Amsterdam Coffee-Shop pictures.

Anyway, I'm interested if the high I get (off this batch and others) is good, or characterstic of low-quality weed, seeing as I have no basis for comparison.

- Warm waves, mainly from shoulders upwards.

- Slight vibrations in the head.

- Rolling, weird and almost random thought patterns. It's like my mind will unpredictably pick a thread and follow it, generating lots of amusing thoughts and vivid mental images. I can look at something, and perceive it differently, such as maybe walking past a person and instantly creating a whole life history for them. Or seeing someone doing something and feeling that I know for sure why they're doing it, and what they're doing, even if I'm totally wrong.

- Sometimes laughing so hard at mildy funny things, my sides ache.

- Deeper appreciation for flavour, noticing layers in taste.

- Deeper appreciation for music and much more observant of sounds not previously noticed in a song.

- More vivid colours.

However, the problem me and my friends who smoke this weed experience is that it always makes us really tired, I can lie on a bed and be out in a few minutes till the next morning.

Does this sound like good or bad weed? Should I start looking for better?

Is this batch, at the very least, a bad grow?

How much did it cost? I'm just really jealous is all.

It cost 80 rand, which I believe is about $10 or 5 pounds or so.

Just smoked a bong an hour ago. Thoughts were muddled and random, but not severely (I didn't smoke a lot). Body was definitely tingling, like the feeling you get in your stomach going down a rollercoaster. A certain fuzziness in the head. But not really those vivid thoughts I love so much. However, I were lying on my bed listening to an MP3 meant to induce a catnap. My eyes were closed and after a few minutes as I began slipping into a half dream state, I had absolutely vivid closed eye visuals. I didn't even remember my eyes were closed but I was looking at a fully formed, fully coloured fish tank, complete with little fish swimmming around behind my eyelids.

So...Good stuff I guess :) Just wish there was more of those weird thought patterns, but I guess if I smoked more there would be.

If the weed were worthless - as in terrible - would it give me any effect at all? Or is the fact that I'm feeling the above testament to it being functional?

Splurge once in a while.

For $10 I'd take a 1/2oz bag of dog shit covered pot if it got me high.. You got nothing to complain about for that price.

No he probably believes you're a cop or suspicious because you can get a hold of weed like that and not know anything about it. All I can tell you is if you don't like it you can either deal with it and smoke the rest or try to sell it and buy some different shit. Btw honestly next time you take a pic make sure the shadow isn't over the buds, that way we might have been able to see more detail, the buds look like mids except for the one in lower left. It looks like it has mold or something I dunno.

dude u paid 5 - 10 pounds for it.. what did u expect killer dank super crystall sticky icky sick bud ?.. from the pic the bud looks fine.. a couple of brown spots and a little fade is not gunna kill u.. and again from the price u paid i expected big fat stems and like 0 bud..

the best think by far to do with cheap/shwaggy/ugly bud is to make honey oil or a nice batch of hash ;).. i wish i could buy that bud at that price, i would make a fuckload of hash and oil :)

it makes you tired because the grower let it mature longer allowing more amber trichomes...this increases the amount of CBD which is believed to have an increased effect on the body and a rather sedative effect..there's nothing wrong with it, but put some of it back for when you've got an ache, I bet it'd clear it right up :)

Well, I only started smoking last year with friends who only bought from one dealer, and now that I've started smoking more frequently I buy it myself from the same guy. I don't know anyone else.

Prices obviously didn't mean much to me...I know $10 is cheap, but I didn't know it was THAT much cheaper.

Indeed. Last year I had managed to resist all forms of drugs - with the exception of alcohol - because I fully believed they were bad. After my first joint in the beginning of the year, I realised that drugs, specifically psychedelics, can't be good or bad, they can either be abused or used to advance the psyche and explore the self.

Since then I've used LSD and Psilocybe mushrooms ($10 for 2 grams of P. Cubensis) and begun smoking more often. I'm very knowledgeable on LSD, but not so much weed :)

I can pack a bong, smoke it and enjoy it...But that's where it ends knowledgewise.

Oh yeah, it's hit and miss regarding seeds. Some bags will have quite a lot, some will have barely any. Does that indicate anything?
